True 19 means you're legally an old. But 18 was just a number that was decided on, that most humans are able to care for themselves and developed enough to make big decisions. I agree we do need more visibility, but using that as a title to pull emotional strings for the sake of financial gains and popularity is simply cringy to me. For example, in the late 2000s and early 2010s, there was the big craze about Twilight and that series. And most of the fans were either teenagers, teenage girls specifically, or young adult women. And people certainly weren’t above criticizing some of the crazy stuff and attitudes of that crowd and making fun of it, and I think the same way about that. Sure, all those teenage girls who liked twilight and were passionate about it weren’t harming anyone or anything, but sometimes they took it too far and it just got annoying, hence the criticism and even mockery at times. Just kind of the nature of the beast, if you ask me. If you make yourself a public figure on YT or elsewhere, you’re always going to open yourself up to some sort of criticism, regardless of if you’re a teenager or not. May not always be necessarily right, but again, just the nature of the beast.

True 19 means you're legally an old. But 18 was just a number that was decided on, that most humans are able to care for themselves and developed enough to make big decisions. It doesn't mean they are fully developed mentally or emotionally and also they are lacking life experience. Okay, I’m not going to say I’m completely fine with Richie now, especially after all that he’s done in the past and what not, cause stuff like that won’t ever be okay. That being said though, at least he admits that his original video was pretty mean and petty and pointless, as well as the Frank video. So good on you for that. Also, I do kind of have to agree with Richie about the point about Jesse making her orientation her sole personality trait. As a gay man myself, I absolutely despise how some people make their orientation or gender their sole personality trait and their reason for existing and speaking. I particularly cringed when she said “my queerness.” Anyone who simply calls themselves “queer” is only doing so for attention and/or to stand out, you can’t convince me otherwise. I’m gay, it’s a part of me, but I’m also just my own person in general. Being gay doesn’t define me and who I am and my interests and hobbies and what not.
I agree with you. I am bisexual and it rubs me the wrong way how she brings up her sexual orientation. I agree we do need more visibility, but using that as a title to pull emotional strings for the sake of financial gains and popularity is simply cringy to me.
Said that, maybe she doesn't know how to do this properly and maybe she's not doing this on a conscious mind. I do hope she changes her methods so it goes from the toxic dynamic she is having with the "LGBTQ" title (as she's put it in the past), to actually something that brings inspiration with respect. So far I feel she is trying and horribly failing on the process.
A lot of teenage freshly open kids make it a big part of their personality because they can finally say it after so long of keeping it back, and it so happened that a lot of her audience was relating to her on that aspect, so ofcourse she's gonna talk about it often. Especially when you come out as bi, you feel like you need to prove yourself and your queerness so you talk about it more often which I went through as a teenager, too. For example, in the late 2000s and early 2010s, there was the big craze about Twilight and that series. And most of the fans were either teenagers, teenage girls specifically, or young adult women. And people certainly weren’t above criticizing some of the crazy stuff and attitudes of that crowd and making fun of it, and I think the same way about that. Sure, all those teenage girls who liked twilight and were passionate about it weren’t harming anyone or anything, but sometimes they took it too far and it just got annoying, hence the criticism and even mockery at times. Just kind of the nature of the beast, if you ask me. If you make yourself a public figure on YT or elsewhere, you’re always going to open yourself up to some sort of criticism, regardless of if you’re a teenager or not.
