Recently discovered this channel. Thanks for a great tour! Those two rigs with the cages are badass!, and offer us the viewers a great perch to watch from also. Life out your way is so different from life out our way...but we're all brothers in a great big family.
If you get an opportunity with your budget a lift and 20" continental singles will make those attack trucks very mobile out in the bushes. We've got front monitors on all our brush units....but you can't beat a guy out front!
Thanks for sharing your stations and equipment. We just took an early 90’s F-350 out of service that was a great wildland unit and replaced it with a new F-550. I haven’t used the new truck but I do know the older unit was fantastic and very nimble and rarely got stuck.
Yeah a good amount counties here in Kansas would be screwed about the front cages, I think we have a couple here in Ellis county. In Hays, we have 1 brush truck. A very under powered E-One engine. It's now a spare engine at the airport with our ARFF truck. We have 3 engines, 2 ladders, 3 command units, 2 utility pickups, 1 brush (underpowered), 1ARFF truck, a technical rescue trailer, 2 stations one in town, the other at the airport. Our main station is staffed between 4-6 people everyday, our airport station is staffed by 1 but we've been doing a weird schedule where one engine from the city gets sent out for the month, so 1-3 members. Our trucks are, Ladders 1,2 engines 1,2,3,5,and 6 (5 is the brush 6 is the ARFF) Car 300 (chief),301(deputy chief), and 302(shift commander (captain) on shift), untilty 312(has an air pack refill system and responds if county or city needs it) and 313. And then the county volunteers have a lot of brush equipment. Our rescue trailer is shared with the county.
Awesome video man! Both of the grass trucks at my station are 500 gallon f 550s and they get stuck all the time. Those older trucks are pretty cool, we phased all of ours out but it sounds like they still have their uses for you guys.
jrockyhill, I love your videos! Because I work in southern California, I am jealous of your mobile attack videos. I wish we could do the same here but the majority of the time, the terrain doesn't allow for that. Depending on how many bodies I have, the minimum is 3, I have 1 firefighter in front with a 20' 1.5" hose and another in the rear with a tool. The one thing that concerns me is when you responded to the camper fire. Those firefighters should have had an SCBA while fighting that fire. Nobody should be breathing any of that smoke. No one knows what the contents of the camper was. Again, great videos. Stay safe!
I will agree with that 100% cuz I'm pretty sure that might have been a meth lab and I am currently on my way home from a machine shed fire so stay tuned
Had to laugh at your big truck comment , that's exactly the reason I started building type 6 and type 7 skid units , they just work better here . Thanks for the video.
Your pierce engine 361 I bet is a 73 or 74. Should say on the door or by the panel. I tell you what, we are using f-550 and a ram 5500 both with super singles lifted with 41 inch military grade tires. They are the only ones in my county that haven’t got stuck. Were you involved in the December fire on the windy day?
We weren't I'm a little surprised that we didn't send a couple of trucks that way we had a fire that started right on the edge of our territory but thankfully burnt right into a wheat field that was an extremely scary day
@jrockyhill Somewhat of an odd question. I noticed all of the stations with the exception of Hedville, have an outdoor warning siren. Are any of the sirens at any of the stations still used/can operate and if so, what are they used for? I noticed they are kinda worn out, with the exception of Bavaria, where the siren looks like it was cleaned up/painted with the building restoration.
I'm pretty sure some of the ones were from way back in the day when there was a fire they would blow the siren and that's when people would come I believe the one in Bavaria might be the tornado siren for the town and the other stations Sirens are no longer used the tornado siren is elsewhere
@@jrockyhill Oh! Cool! Thanks for the info! Has the department had plans to do anything with the other two older sirens, remove/scrap/sell/local museum or anything like that? Would be cool to see them saved, or maybe reused/sold to another town which could use one. Also, I noticed Glendale the town proper, doesn’t have a siren elsewhere, looking at maps, unless I’m just crazy and can’t find it, or it’s too new to be on maps.
My station is moundridge and we have two Ford brush trucks one Ford rescue two Freightliner pumpers one Sterling tanker and one M35 deuce and a half tanker that we use as a tanker and a brush

Good Video. Some of the Saline County tax payers probably has never seen the equipment we have. Great idea. See ya at the next big one!!!! Be safe!!!
Thank you so much for showing your equipment, very impressive and cool. Stay safe with all these fires.
Interesting trucks and interesting station!!! VERY NICE!!!
Very nice department overview. Growing up in a small town in very northern New York, I have great appreciation for rural volunteer departments.
Nice equipment. Love the old engine

Any info on GPM or Pumps?
If you ever want to tour District #7 just holler
My station is moundridge and we have two Ford brush trucks one Ford rescue two Freightliner pumpers one Sterling tanker and one M35 deuce and a half tanker that we use as a tanker and a brush
Heck yeah that's awesome you guys have been kind of busy the last couple of years I've listened to a few fires of yours on the scanner app
@@jrockyhill yeah on Friday there were 3 calls
How mine fire stations and volunteer firefighters do you have?
4 stations and probably 30 to 40 people
Great video :) How many calls do each station get a year?
If we get a call all four stations get the call because we never know who will be able to go our chief said we averaged around a hundred calls a year
Can you link me to one of your videos with 342 in action?
