Ghouls 'n Ghosts is the sequel to the brutally hard Ghosts 'n Goblins, and is brutally hard in its own right. This run is of the original coin-op version, which is most similar to the Genesis one. One of the major differences is less armor from chests.
Creative use of damage and picture perfect boss fights combine with some glitchy looking jumps as xipo takes on Lucifer's many demons. The game is completed twice (which is necessary to get the ending) and along the way we are treated to some fabulous Engrish and more information than necessary about the damsel in distress.

You beat the game, and then rhe game was like, "Lol, Nah. Do it again."

I remember this game from my childhood. I was so hurt when I had to start over. I almost cried.

That's interesting because Ghouls 'n' Ghosts was developed by Capcom, not Namco. This was obviously well before the age when computer game companies started getting all touchy about their IPs appearing in other franchises
My guess is that they either did that little bit themselves or referenced Galaga's precedent, Galaxian
Whoever this TAS guy is, he's way too good at this game.

I didn't know Resurrection was based on the Arcade version.

Curious, at times like 4:31, 4:48, why does the player intentionally walk off an edge as opposed to jumping forward?
I was wondering the same thing. My guess would be to manipulate monsters in some way.
Jumping at 4:31 will get you to the higher platform, which is ultimately slower.
At 4:48, you can still hit the crystal ceiling, which hurts you.
