Boy Named Goo is a pretty underrated album for the Dolls. Naked, Impersonality, Eyes Wide Open, Flat Top are all pretty good once you get to the chorus. Always judged their music by the first 10 seconds
@@lunch7213 I know it sucks I'll make my friends listen to them but they will say they don't like it before they even get to the chorus and if I get them to the chorus they love it
This is the Goo Goo Dolls I love. 3 piece band just rocking out some amazing originals. I know their music has evolved to the point of needing 10 people on stage and it's beautiful music but there's just something so much more real about this stripped down raw version of them.
Very cool! I was 12-years old and also at this show! It was the first concert I'd ever been to. I remember my Mom had let me go to it with my friends and she insisted on me wearing my Sorels (which I recall protesting about, because I wanted to be cool - my mom wanted me to be warm).
Goddamn this video makes me feel like a little kid all over again! Shit the 90’s were such a good time to be a kid and an aspiring musician! Damn Johnny’s voice is so golden.
I was there and live in a tent for 4 months partying continuously, being fifty now seems like it was just a couple weeks ago so weird how time flies.....
This is insane. It’s just the three of them. Just guitars and drums. No violins. No keyboards. The energy level is crazy. The crowd is eating it up! Robbie is wired. I miss those days. Watch a recent show. They have 6 musicians. The crowd acts like they’ve been sedated with painkillers lol.
This is it. Classic three-piece lineup. Songs from one of my all-time favorite albums. To have been at this show. Beautiful backdrop, too 👍👍🍻 Club Cutz 👌
I love all Robby's songs from this album: Impersonality & Burning Up, very appreciate them + Johnny's choruses sounds very, very good. Best GGD ERA 1993-98 ^^.
it's a damn shame people only talk about Name from this album (great song but not one of my faves) this is a hard rocking alternative album that shows the goo goo dolls weren't always a "sappy, ballady" band.
EC0205 The 90's was the best ever, it was the culmination of the decades before it, there was a real industry, real trends and real social movements for people to identify with. Band loyalty is replaced with just singles. Now you can see bands right away online. Before you had to read magazines and the whole thing was mysterious and a big event when you saw a band.
Great performance, great songs. Even tho they will not sound like that anymore, i'm glad we have some videos to watch and listen. He looked so young at 31, when people at that age in the 90s were like Methuselah.
Im 33 music really sucks hard these days, allot is such crap. 90's best era of all time. We'll never have that again. Technology also ruined everything
yeah the efficiency of getting shit loads of music for practically a dime at the tips of your fingers in seconds has killed the industry. That and other things.
EC0205 Technology killed creativity and in addition music is still a riskier career chioce with all this economic uncertainty. Not many new bands coming around
Music is still good, you're are only basing it off of the popular music which does suck. Many bands from the 2010s and today that are great. Granted, they aren't for everyone but they are different.
@@formerlyskidsinmyute There is no money in it anymore. Unfortunately it means that the musicians within the industry have to play by industry rules if they want to get paid. Not all of it is bad, but it is not at all how it was in the 90s. Money matters a lot more than you might think.

90s last great era of concerts...
The last era of great bands
Can't agree, just saw The Beat, doing 80's Crimson, best show I've seen in a long, long time.

This is the classic Goo Goo Dolls sound man! No extras, just John, Robbie, and Mike!
I agree with you!!! only the Power Trio
Ryan Morrison When did they start adding the extras anyway?
No Name probably after dizzy up the girl came out so they could do the complete sound of Iris with the ukulele and strings. A lot went into that song
A boy named goo was their last good album
Removing Mike was a bad idea.
Every single song from this album should have been a radio hit... they are all phenomenal.
I AGREE
I got it on vinyl 😁
Listen to their previous album Superstar Carwash it’s amazing! I saw GGD in 95, ❤ the album! But Superstar Carwash is my fav.
Look at that audience, no one with phones.
That is the good stuff. Johnny was already dreaming of bigger things but this phenomenal talent of rock just fuck'in rocked!!
That's a pretty full sound for a rock trio. I'm impressed.
Liftmeup yeah I'm impressed everytime I listen to GGD trio version too. There's some magic in Johnny's hands for sure
It’s those twin Marshall jcm800’s
Still can't believe Race the Sun was shut out at Cannes. Also, The GGDs early stuff is horribly underappreciated. They rocked.

When people say they are a one hit wonder with iris, I tell them about this album 😉
Kick ass band
Not one bad song on ABNG and I was a big song skipper back in the day but not on this album.
The times where Johnny really play guitar. Awesome...
amazing era, wish our generation was like this 😢❤
The 6 dislikes came from the guitar strings because their secrets were exposed to thousands of people without their consent.
Look at that crowd! Life was great, once upon a time.
The real deal. Miss those days.
Cant get enough of these mid 90s shows. I played A Boy Named Goo a gazillion times in high school.
Ahhh John with long hair back in 96, passionate and carefree about his music
This performance is absolutely epic wow
As time goes by, this band stands tall and the music holds up. They’d go on to even greater acclaim, but this was an apex.
I miss these days so much
I miss Much Music so much!
Sad thing is, they’ve dropped almost of all of these awesome songs from their live shows in the past 10 years.
I mean Johnny is like 55 now, his voice has been thru a lot in the past 2 and a half decades lol
Neither can hit the notes anymore. They did Cuz You’re Gone in 2017 in Knoxville, but it was slowed down and keyed down.
Sucks.
