A long time ago (maybe more than 40 years ago?) they built an big outdoor stage on the Gray Ranch for Lynn Anderson to sing. She was married to Spook Stream (the grandson). Lynn put on a concert to support for a local politician. My friends and I iced down a bunch of beer and drove to the ranch. I wore my best starched jeans, trophy buckle, boots, and a brand new felt hat - a brown Stetson. It was one of them nights. I ended up in front of the stage. Lynn was going to close the show with "I never promised you a rose garden." She walked to the edge of the stage and said to me, "Hey, cowboy, can I wear your hat?" I never forgot that moment and I still have that Stetson. The Gray Ranch has produced some of the most beautiful Quarter Horses. But it's Lynn Anderson wearing my hat I remember most.
Lord we used to swim horses all the time here in South carolina. Hangin on to em all the way, their good swimmers.
My mom grew up in GED right across from the Gray Ranch in the 1930-1940's. She had many memories of the ranch.
Really interesting informative video. While y'all bicker about the breeds y'all like; my favorite is the one that keeps appearing in the background that keeps bobbing it's head up and down. You will notice it has cable attached to it's bit. As long as it keeps going up and down the better it looks. That is the best kind of horse you can have. Just having fun y'all......but really we've known a family in Southern Louisiana for years that went from being rice farmers to gentleman rice farmers when that breed of horse was discovered on their land

Can the horses breathe okay while swimming in the water with that bit in their mouths?
Lindsay Grove absolutely, they breath just fine. They aren't talking on water because they are breathing through thier nose. These horses do this a couple of times a year.

The hillbilly music in the background is totally wrong for South Louisiana.
Ugh quarter horses are so boring :/ EVERYBODY has a quarter horse. they aren't the most athletic, the fastest, and they definitely don't have a very great temperament.

+horsehalters2 I like Morgan's too I have one but I have mostly Quarter horses and an Aztec.. I love Quarter Horses and Andalusians
People in La own quarters b/c they're a good sound horse that can get the job done. Everyone has their own preference so making a comment like that was uncalled for. Every person likes different breeds so those that appreciate quarters & can work with them love them. Not everyone can handle them but I wouldn't trade mine for the world
horsehalters2 ai quarter horse is boring?but yet you own a lazy gypsy vanner...I own frisians,Romanian draft horses who can at any type of sport or draft smoke your gypsy..but yet I find the quarter horse a bodybuilder just like myself
