    I use an IC-9700 in portable operations. What is the name of the sat tracking program you are using?

    What SAT settings do you use for the LEDSAT on the SAT box?

    • @FrankG-ob3xs
      @FrankG-ob3xs Год назад

      Everything on the SAT is the same. You will see new frequencies and you must fine tune as you did for IO-117. Be sure you select LEDSAT on the terminal program and the soundmodem is the same one you use for IO-117.

    How did you determine your offset ? Thank you for the video.

      It was really trial and error along with keeping the movable bar on the soundmodem to cover the waveform with the lower end at around 800 Hz.

      Its more than likely your level is too high. Lower it in the sound setting area on your PC.

    I think I might be receiving chirps from the satellite. They are all the way across the waterfall and they sound like a video game sound. I don’t the see the signal from 1000-2000 on the waterfall. I don’t see anything decode and I believe I have everything set up correctly. I might be receiving weak signals.

    Hello Frank, I have a problem. My 9700 doesn't show a codec for the input device. So I am not hearing anything. My transmit shows Speakers 12-usb Audio Codec. But there is no USB -12 audiocodec on the input device. The com port is good I can transmit from Green Cube Terminal. Any ideas?

    • @HAMFunko4pdi
      @HAMFunko4pdi Год назад

      fixed that. no0t decoding. I have the com port right and I have the ports the same in both Green cube terminal and also Sound Modem. My question is, how do you know what port it should be?

    Is there a reason that Greencube modem is not in the current distribution of soundmodem?

      I think sound modem is a separate program created by a different developer. It is used by many different programs.

    Why is there a 300 Hz differential between TX and RX plus 60 Hz RIT. Not surre I understand the TX differential off of published frequency? Or how to derermine? Seems a 300 Hz error would make the difference between gettin in or not. And Ive been on several passes with zero luck.

    • @FrankG-ob3xs
      @FrankG-ob3xs 10 месяцев назад

      I know it seems counter intuitive to have different freqs/doppler correction for uplink and downlink but it must be that way. At some point in the pass there can be several Khz difference. The published frequencies do not take into account doppler correction. Its a matter of perspective either you are on the ground or on the satellite so the doppler is different for TX and RX. It took me a while to understand that. The RIT was just a small correction and I was just lazy to add it to the initial RX frequency.

    • @ehresmanr
      @ehresmanr 10 месяцев назад

      @@FrankG-ob3xs I have a friend who is occasionally successful with IO-117 using HRD for TX control and hand on the RIT knob to visually correct RX. He says the differential across a pass can be as much as 11 kHz. What is the math for that one might ask? That seems to imply that we may be shooting blind on TX more or less, and using a fixed value for RIT means there may be only one point in a given pass where both sides are actially working correctly.

    • @CodfishCatfish
      @CodfishCatfish 10 месяцев назад

      I don’t remember the offset being that much? You’re like to see the first reception on 435.113mhz and the last will be on 435.107mhz. That’s just 6khz for a satellite that can be 10,000km away apogee.

    • @stevendodd6477
      @stevendodd6477 8 месяцев назад

      The published centre frequency is 435.310MHz - in the video his Rx is set to 435.309 and his Tx is set to 435.309.3 (plus the weird RIT) before doppler correction. Obviously during the pass the frequencies shift apart depending on where the satellite is and its direction/speed in relation to your station and in order to stay tuned in automatic doppler correction on both Rx and Tx needs to be calculated and applied. @ehresmanr - I am in the same boat as you did you manage to fix your problem? I can decode just fine I think I have my levels set correctly. I'm using Gpredict and have my ic-9700 on split. I think I'm just not finding the right transmit frequency.
      Watching the video seems to imply that his Rx and Tx are locked together and once he has his Rx coming through starting at 800 on the sound modem waterfall then the TX is also correct, but 300Hz +/- doppler from the Rx … Don't know haven't been successful yet

    My waterfall is blank. When I change the soundmodem input to microphone, the waterfall shows the ambient room noise. But when I switch back to usb audio from the 9700 I see nothing. It’s like the input gain from the usb is set to zero, but it’s set to 100%. I’m baffled.

    where are the bandpass freqs of 800-2100 entered. BPF width txbpf width lpf width ???

    • @CodfishCatfish
      @CodfishCatfish 10 месяцев назад

      Width is automatic for AFSK GMSK you just need to aim for a CF of 1500hz and you can slide the BPF to 1500hz in soundmodem. In soundmodem there is also a small data entry window with up and down
