Another great video, Scott! 👍 I’m off to clean up a mess. I have a Stihl MS361 in pieces on my table. Coffee time, a new video from Scott and off to work I go! Happy Thanksgiving 😊
Thanks for sharing your tubing removal tool idea with us. I have a Husky 353 that has been one of my favorite small saws. My only issue has been the "two disk" fuel tank vent system. Wish I could replace that with something better. It has a tendency to leak as you replace the filler cap despite having been replaced.
I guess I'm not familiar with a two disc vent. What I recall is a white vent on the right side of the saw with a hose connected to it that runs to the carb area.
Had an Echo 63cc blower with a stuck needle caused by the two stroke oil. Had Walmart oil in it that sat over the winter. The unit would run & die, run & die. After several cycles of fresh fuel, it loosened up. Diaphragm's were new. Never saw this before and thought I should mention it.
Cool tool Wednesday! Every now and then you can find a box of old tools at yard sales/flea markets that can be repurposed. Good stuff. You mentioned on one of your latest videos that you deal in Echo products. Never see'em on the bench. Not too many problems or just don't sell many? 👍🍻
Its true that we sell way less Echo product than Husqvarna but its also true that the Echo line has a five year warranty mostly because they hold up well.
Love these saws! I did the ZAMA C3 EL-42 swap out, tried drilling the hole in the Walbro 199A Metering Diaphragm Cover Plate with no luck. Runs sweet now with the ZAMA. Erica sent me one of those fuel line removal tools, definitely worth using versus a screwdriver! Happy Thanksgiving!!
Its funny how many tasks I first started performing with shoddy/incorrect tools and have just kept doing it that way without considering an alternative. Such a simple tool really does make a difference.
In putting the gasket and diaphragm back on the metering side I saw where u put some extra gaskets on I've never seen that before. I've only rebuilt a few carburetors at this point so why the extra gaskets??? Great video Thanks
There is an extra plate/spacer on that side that is part of a system that allows the metering diaphragm to vent to the air filter, rather than a hole in the metal plate.
@TheGreasyShopRag ok just curious. Thanks I've learned so much from the short time I've watched your channel. Thanks for sharing your vast knowledge 🙏 I'm trying to watch all your videos and look forward to upcoming videos Great Channel mate. I hit the like button several times alreadÿ
I don't recall ever seeing so many gaskets on the metering diaphragm side of the carb. I thought it was one gasket and then the diaphragm only. Am I missing something?
So if you look around the 6:06 mark you'll see the metering diaphragm plate doesn't have a vent hole. The plastic spacer is actually part of a diversion system that allows the diaphragm to vent to the air filter. There is an extra gasket because of the spacer.
This guy makes great quality content.
Thanks for watching!

Thanks! I've got the day off so its Red Bull and video editing for me 🙂
@ sounds like a great day to me!
And now to repair my carburetor. Thank you!
Good luck with the repair!
Great video Scott, yeah Ericas channel is great to. /from the land of Husqies..... Later... ;)
Thanks for watching!
I always love it when you do videos about saws that I own.
Thats probably a lot of saws.
Good job on that custom tool job Scottster♥ And thanks for the shoutout to Erica at married with small engines! Love you guys! Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Excellent Job Scott 😀 An Old Saw Sitting For Years Is Like a Box of Chocolates Ya Jist Never Know Whatcha Gonna Get IE “Forrest Gump”😮😶🌫️😀
Lol, So true!
Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching!
Now I need to make one of those hose removal tools, thanks for the inspiration
It just works better than a straight blade screwdriver.
346 is the best saw ive ever got.. Still going strong. In Finland we dont usually need so long bars, wh2n working in eforest 13,14 15 "" are suitable.
Around here there is a sort of cult following for the 346xp. If I get one it only takes one or two phone calls to sell it.
Neat tool idea, my best tools are the one's I've made. The Stealerships do charge a bit much for OEM tools!
In the end the goal is to get the equipment fixed and sometimes factory tools are needed but I agree the best ones are home made.
them 359ers are pretty good running lil saws. Nice job on the carb. Have a good Thanksgiving.
Yep. Hopefully it doesn't sit unused for another two years. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for sharing. I've seen the stuck needle but never was able to link it directly to oil or fuel.
Home made tools for specific purposes make sense to me. Laaaaater
I've got a few others. I've been trying to decide if its enough for a dedicated video.
@@TheGreasyShopRag Would be a neat video Scott.
You always make it look so easy Scott, I still think it easier to remove the carbs on Stihl equipment though
You may be right about that.
That’s a long time for a chainsaw to sit, especially with fuel sitting in it. Great fix once again, Scott.
Ya it seems to happen a lot around here.
Another saw brought back to life! Well done!
Saved from the junk yard or the hands of some kid that hasn't seen any of my videos yet :-)
Great video! Loved it ❤
Thanks for watching!
Nice efficient fix!!
This repair is typical of a lot of the repairs I do. Thanks for tuning in!

@@TheGreasyShopRag Yeah, that was a deal maker for me and my 590.

Liked the detail explanations.................. hopefully I won't have to use this info. 🤣
Thanks for watching!
Yeah 👍, double schmutz video 😂🎉 great 💪🤟
That carburetor gasket stiffness seen very well here why it's shot.
Have a good Thanksgiving 🦃😊
Ya that was a problem. Thanks for watching!
Nice work! All engines need to be exercised every so often. 2 years? Too long!
Agreed. That reminds me about a generator in my garage...
Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for watching!
A great video on the chainsaw enjoy your Thanksgiving and I enjoyed the video
Thanks for watching!
What is the brand of battery powered screwdriver that you use to put the carb back together?
Can't remember now but I've tried to find it again for a back up but its no longer available.

@@TheGreasyShopRag Thanks, I did notice there was not an air hole and was thinking something else was happening but I couldn't figure it out.
I'm a fan of your videos!
Can I come work for you im good with small Engines myself! Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving!
Hey Scott, I'd like to buy one of your carb stands. I live in West Bend WI, would I be better off picking one up or pay the shipping?
I only sell them through ebay so I guess you'll have to deal with shipping. Thanks for supporting the channel!
