This song is amazing. This is the first SVRCINA song that RUclips suggested to me (on 20th May 2022), and it started this massive kick of finding all her albums and individual songs. What an incredibly talented and hard-working singer/songwriter. The lyrics really speak to me - I go thru cycles in my life all the time, and I'm always trying to unlearn bad patterns.
Lucky that I loved the song despite the weird @ss video clip - the gloves, weird dance moves all over a farmhouse and orchard. I still have no idea what's going on. I do not blame the director, Bree Marie Fish. Based on my first-grade research skills (watching behind-the-scenes Instagram reels from her official account) I think Molly was on a weird artistic kick with her Pinterest boards that day. On the other hand, 'Runaway W. You' has the most amazing video clip - a little slice of life on a tram, and by the same director. A lot of SVRCINA songs haven't cracked 50k views on YT. So much talent, so little popularity, it boggles my mind. I usually listen to hard rock and metal because they actually put effort into writing their own music, it has meaning, and it's not mass-produced pop music rubbish. I definitely make an exception to my genre bias for SVRCINA. Molly, your songs in my playlists are sandwiched between Starset, Breaking Benjamin, Motionless in White, New Years Day, and Red. I don't know if that thought disturbs you. It probably should.
I still don't know how my YT suggestion feed gave me this song. I checked my YT history - before this I was listening to Disturbed (metal), Feuerschwanz (metal covers) and Saint Asonia (hard rock) songs. I made a brief foray into an old Tonight Alive song (Sydney punk rock band), then bam! Molly Marie SVRCINA on my YT suggestions. Then, like, as many songs as I could find on YT. Like 9 in a row in one evening, then about 30 more songs in less than a week. BTW, your discography is really hard to find. It took me a couple of weeks to work out you wrote songs as a teenager under the name Molly Hunt, and some of them are really good! Someone needs to create your Wikipedia page, like yesterday (I'd volunteer, but I'm like suuuuuupperr lazy). I had to go onto Spotify and last.fm to find more of your songs, and your bio. And that left me feeling like I needed a long shower. But I did find out that you were born in Michigan, so I was able to use that for ammunition to razz a work mate here in Australia ("Hey, this artist I really like was born in Detroit, like you, so this proves that not everything that comes out of Michigan is useless."). Everyone laughed at that, even him. It was amazing, but you had to be there.
