I’ve lived in Florida for 25 years and ridden out many hurricanes but this one was by far the worst I’ve ever ridden out. I was in a shed rated for 130 mph winds and I thought it was going to rip the anchors out the ground. We have multiple trees down and no power for no telling how long. I laid in the floor praying as I hear trees cracking and smashing to the ground. I’m fortunate to have survived. Prayers to the families going through the same horror as I did. 🙏

Note that I did not say go to church. The Father Yah wants a personal relationship, not a religious person. We live on the coast in southeast Georgia on the Florida/Georgia line. We are literally exit 1. I have been here since I was a kid and we have never had any problems. The worst storm that affected us was Matthew and all we had was some roof damage. I think it’s the perfect place to live. We are right in between Amelia Island and Jekyll Island so we have easy beach access. We are 40 minutes north of Jacksonville and 90 miles south of Savannah. We are no further than 3 hours from Orlando and the at 1.5 hours from St. Augustine. We are 2 to 2.5 hours from Daytona. We are a decent sized town with amazing schools, very little traffic, and a military base right here so lots of employment opportunities. I love where I live.

Josh, thank you for the information, clearly you are exceptionally knowledgeable when it comes to tropical cyclones - weather in general. I live in Santee, South Carolina, but lived in Charleston for 60+ years.... and want you to know I enjoy your detailed forecasts, BUT more importantly, THANKS for sharing your faith. There are MANY hurting people in dire situations. We are in a world (as you are aware) that needs Jesus more than ever. PLEASE keep sharing your gift/knowledge and your faith. I do have a prayer request, if you would reach back to me at your leisure. I lived through Hurricane Hugo (14 days without electricity) - knew many folks that didn't get power until Thanksgiving - over 60 days, Hurricane David, Hurricane Floyd, Hurricane Michael and many others. Please keep advising people, informing and caring as you do. Be ENCOURAGED as you are making a difference. You don't know whose life you could be saving - not just physically! GOD Bless you Josh! Thx for the update. Heléne was obviously a devastating storm but, at the same time, John has left southwestern Mexico with severe flooding, especially in and around Acapulco. The national weather service reports some areas affected by John received 87+ cm /34") of rain. We know that climate change has caused the atmosphere to hold more water and when that excess moisture gets wrung out of the atmosphere over your region you are looking at a world of hurt. This problem will get worse over time as warming continues and it may be the biggest challenge we face from climate change due to its destruction of our infrastructure.
