Teaser | Columbia-Richland Fire Department 2024 Youth Academy

Twelve area teens reported for duty at the Columbia-Richland Fire Department to get an inside look at their community fire service.
The teens were chosen by the Columbia Urban League to take part in this summer’s ‘Youth Empowerment Academy.
Over the course of two weeks, they learned skills at CRFD that they can put to use serving their communities as well as valuable strategies for career success. This included sessions on how to perform basic life-saving medical care like administer CPR or apply a tourniquet.
Each summer the academy has been made possible thanks to the department’s partnership with the Columbia Urban League, which works to promote financial stability and racial inclusion across our area.
