Great effort Si You did the right thing getting a lab test done and now its given you the correct route to follow mate. Looks like you had no trouble in administering the injections mate, well done you, hopefully the next update will be good news….🤞🏼
Fair play Si for having the patience and perseverance to do what you're doing for the koi. Saying you were nervous you looked like you handled the injections perfectly 👍🏼👌🏼
Very interesting update Simon, thank you for sharing your experience of treating/injecting for a bacterial infection 👍. Keeping my fingers crossed for you🤞🤞🤞
Well done for sharing this Si now you've managed to find some baytrill fingers crossed 🤞 it does the job relatively quickly 🤞 and great work administering it 👍
Just like to say well done for sharing this 👏. It’s never a nice thing to have to do. Parasites are b**tards, but bacteria are a whole another level. You definitely did the right thing in contacting Paula, as she will give you the very best advice. Like you say it’s just so hard to get what you need, even with her backing most vets just don’t want to know, or know very little about koi. You did a great job 👍injecting into the triangular set of scales just behind the dorsal fin and into the back muscle. I’ve never been confident enough to inject there, but have injected into the pectoral muscle, so we’ll done to you. I hope you get on top of the problem 🤞and that the koi recover and please continue to share you’re journey with us, as I’m sure it’s a big help to other koi keepers.
Thank you very much Trevor. It was slightly daunting doing the first one but after that it was fine. I think the most important factor is to make absolutely sure the dosages given are correct. It's a shame there isn't more help out there that's easily accessible 😮💨 thanks for the comments 😊
Great video! I hope you get on top of this. Have you considered treating the pond with Virkon Aquatic? I would like to think it would cull the bacterial load in your pond. I have found it has little impact on filter bacteria, but has helped settle the odd inflamed raised scale.
I have used virkon in the past, but im not sure what it's effectiveness is/has been. It certainly wouldn't have any effect on the fish currently being treated as the bacteria has already gotten into the fish. Certainly something to consider for the future but also maybe a higher water change rate could give the same result🤷♂️ Thanks for the comments
Nice set up I'm new to the koi community I'm disabled so a pond in our garden on a nice day what more could you want my pond is nearly finished it has took me 5 months to build being in a wheelchair ♿️ wheelchair does slow me down I'm after a vari pump but cannot afford the prices they are asking do you or any one you know got one cheap please thank you paul
Hi Paul, welcome to the community 😊 nothing more rewarding sitting in the garden watching the fish after you've built the pond, even more so with your situation, well done! In terms of getting a decent deal on a varipump, I would take a look at Skegness pond supplies and Mark's Country Koi👍
Hi Simon. Good video. Did well with the kuhaku. I am in the exact same situation as you at the moment. My water is perfect and always is. The new season has thrown me an issue.I have bacteria on 2 fish. Swabs came back with aeromas or however you spell. Need baytril 5% or 10% but i can not get it anywhere. Meanwhile the fish are getting worse and there is no help. Topical treatments or virkon won't touch it. I'd love to know your contact as it is so frustrating calling dealers or vets etc. How can you take your fish into the vets? It's crazy lol.🤦🏻
Hi Lyndon, It's frustrating isn't it. If all your water is testing well, then other factors that could have caused the outbreak might be stress or a fish already infected. Maybe you could try and narrow it down to the cause too to understand how it came about to prevent it again. As for the Antibiotic itself, it's a tough one and I too struggled. It's not something you will pick up from our side of the pond unless you have a good contact. Do you have a good relationship with any dealers that may be able to point you in the right direction? If all else fails, email me.
@@UpNorthKoiPond yeah everything is ok. My dealer is good but safe as he wont provide anybody with info about antibiotics. He just says there are people out there just try and source it. Easier said than done. I know it has come from stress. As the temps picked up in the pond i got fluke. Took 4 treatments to clear then costia. I have a local vet who deals with exotic animals so he sent a swab off. His reporr over the phone told me the problem and what the fish needed. He wanted me to take the 2 fish into him at a certain appointment time every other day for the week. I tried to explain there was noway i could do that and be able to go to work as we all know what a process that would be plus im possibly going to lose them on the trip after he has sedated. They need plenty of oxygen to get them home. Like crazy. We buy these expensive fish that are our pets then when they get ill with bacteria you cant get what you need to help them and you're just watching them get worse and suffer. It's crazy and sad. I've been trying to get hold of baytrill now for 3 weeks. I think my shiro will not last as it is worse than your tancho but my showa could still be saved. It's ridiculous!!! As they say the joys of koi keeping eh!! I can't see your email mate. Thanks for that.
Hi Si, I have the same drum, at the far end of the waste shoot under side I stuck a couple of plastic builders packers so to lift the far end and now nothing sits in shoot.
Thanks Terence. I'm following the directions of Dr Paula Reynolds of Lincolnshire fish health. I'm not one to argue with her when it comes to treating Pathogenic bacteria 👍
Hope all your koi have a speedy recovery pal, you got some awsome koi in your pond.
Thank you 😃
