100% enough. 8 deep frames in the brood chamber and 5 deep frames in the nuc super above. No top ventilation and a 1.5 inch thick foam board insulation at the top. They will have honey left over coming out of winter. George
We posted on our facebook account about it! It is awesome. Retractable lanyard with steel rope. Hive tool is custom made by a friend..standard j tool just shortened to fit better in hand. A total winner and never lost. George
each hive has it's own hive tool so not to transfer any disease. I tell my friend's to buy me a hive tool for christmas and birthday. they are cheap gifts and mission accomplished.
Love the Demaree! Great way to increase honey production while not increasing your colony numbers by doing splits. It is highly effective just labor intensive. The Keepers Hive makes it soo easy and effective. George
6:19 “ohh that’s risky!”😅 I do that with a veil on, and it freaks me out. One bee went for your face, but she took a while to get you 8:18 😢. Love your stuff! Looking forward to your hive!
Blowing on the bees to move them without a veil is super risky! Yes, the one that got me probably was triggered by that. I probably wont do that one again. Since my stock if so docile, I sometimes forget that they still can be defensive if agitated enough...ie blowing on them. George
I do have a question on the pollen I got the caulk gun and have tryed the pollen your way. do u find the just drink the pollen dry and leave the residue on the frames or does your eat it all. Thanks
We use wooden bound metal 5 frame queen excluders on the one queen keeper hive and wooden bound 10 frame queen excluder with the two queen keeper hive. It is important to use a wood bound queen excluder on the keepers hive. The excluder is also modified a bit to limit propolis on the frame protectors. The space between the top bars of the frames in the brood chamber and the queen excluder is 3/8 inch. All the small details matter to make it work well. George
Hmmmmmm.... now I will have to buy wooden bound excluders after your new style hives are available. Shazam!! Mid june I am going home to new jersey and maybe I can pick up my hives during my visit and see the modifications and sit in on your meeting.
Hello, my dear brother, I would like to share your experience. It is special. I am from Algeria. When wintering, do we have to put it in a box of five tires?
The hive overwinters in the brood box or the brook box plus a 5 frame deep super. There are youtube videos explaining both options. Not sure what a box of five tires is referring to? Hope this helps a bit. George
Things are really tight right now with the way the economy is but do u know when your hives will be for sell and for how much, I enjoy you videos looking forward to the next. Have a Blessed week.
Preorders will be available through our crowd funding in early June. We are doing our best to keep the cost down as much as possible. Having a successful crowd funding will definitely help us do that. George
@@TheKeepersHive I would like to buy the conversion kit- rails, observation glass, removable rails... ect. I'm re-queening my whole apiary in April with BeeWeavers, (because Africanized here in SE NEw Mexico) but still want to convert to Keepers Hives.
Nice video George. I cringed when you got popped in the mouth! 🤦♂️ How long does it take to put on a veil?? Maybe 30 seconds?? 😂 Anyway keep the videos coming. Looking forward to watching the evolution of your season! 👍👍 Harvey
Can't wait to see the next video
They are a lot of fun to make! George
How many days has this hive been left without being opened? Are the five jars of honey enough to get this hive through the winter?

Wow, I love that retractable hive tool. Tell me more!

Great video , I'm planning on doing the demoryee on my honey production hives this year to help stop swarming.

George, wear a veil!!! ha ha. I can't wait to get my Keepers Hive Order in place! :)
They were so well behaved until one made a bee line for my lip. George

Very cool. A little bit of both! They will totally clean the top bars of the frames immediately above the cluster. George
George, did you cut down the 8 frame queen excluder to fit your 5 frame box? or did you cut a 10 frame queen excluder to make 2/5 frame excluders?

What is the elastic cord attached to the hive tool called and where did u purchase it? Thanks
It is a retractable steel wire on a badge lanyard. I came up with this idea... it works great. George

The worst stings I have received were on a vein. The venom gets right into the blood stream.
They all hurt for sure. George
Why is the queen marked green? That's this year's color.
Great question. I use whatever marker pen I have so the colors don't match the year (WYRGB). I mark a lot of my queens pink just because. George
