From Canada, and having worked extensively on insulation theory, I would say we would never use polyurethane foam for a house. If it burns even a little, the smoke is thick black poisonous smoke. I can also say fiberglass is pretty problematic. Instead, I would recommend a mineral wool, the density of which is up to you guys, but I prefer something akin to Roxul. I'm not familiar with hempcrete and similar, which may actually be a good choice. On land where the annual average temperature is healthy, it's okay to thermally connect the concrete to ground temperature, but you still want to keep water out of your concrete. To that end, we try to keep soil away from the concrete foundation and instead use 3/4" nofines gravel around it (like train tracks gravel). The quality of wood used in Japan has always amazed me. The wood they force Canadians to build with has always been absolute shit. I'm very interested in strategies Japan uses to keep shiroari (termites) out.
It seemed that all the construction blocks were premade. Can you give the information on where to order them and where to get the blueprint (house construction design and assembly instruction) for the construction. Thanks.
I get very envious of people that have someone to do this for them because it's not fair! I need someone to build a house for me too! Not fair at all!!
If a house is maintained, most will last a 100+ years. My house is a typical wood framed house that is over 70 years old in a neighborhood of similar homes.
That wall between the toilet and the sink in the bathroom is completely unnecessary. There's no need to make that small space so tightly uncomfortable.
According to the Japan Building Standards Act, it is not worth living or reselling. Without mountain care and flood control, it would be destroyed by natural disasters. Please be careful.
Can someone tell me, 1) Why he did not leave expansion gaps at the edges of wooden floor covering? 2) Those external walls are insulated with non-breathing material (styrofoam or xps or whatever those are) should accumulate lots of condensation, isn’t it? 3) I see no tubes used for fire protection of wiring inside such highly flammable materials used in construction of walls and partitions (wood + styrofoam), why? 4) Those heat insulation panels under the floor covering are just placed in openings without any support from below, won’t they fall down by time? 5) I saw he put the wooden parts on external walls cut from the edges as male-female without any insulation tape or anything like that to prevent or decrease the cold air flow from outside towards the inside, is that correct application?
100 years? where I Live we have home build over 100 years old, and lastes over a 100 years, that only coast a 1-3 hondread dollars per-house... According to historical data, a typical house in the United States around 100 years ago (circa 1920s) would cost approximately $6,300 which, when adjusted for inflation, would equate to around $77,339 in today's money. This home is 50 100 or 200 thousansd dollar that deteriate within 100 years? This sounds like a scame... or misleading.... Sorry... TheoryMaK15....,

The poly foam you mentioned doesn't burn really at all. It is an absolutely amazing insulator. Useful in hard to reach places etc..

BEAUTIFUL 😊
Very neat
Cool 😎😎

Was this house a kit, those are some pretty special cut beams and such. Not typical framing at all

They built a very beautiful house, but I think painting the exterior gray ruined it.
It's not gray
The color is blue gray
It's a very beautiful paint called xyladeco
I agree with you, theyshouldn't have painted the house.
@ I'm sure the color is beautiful, but the natural wood appearance would be my preference.

@@srych3I’m sure when you build a house, you’ll leave it the color you want.

A couple of questions. How air tight those outside walls are? And is 3 inches (75 mm) of wooden wall enough insulation for the cold Japanese winters?
i hope it is fireproof
These planks are made of wood. Wood is really useful. It comes from trees. ;)
But seriously, great work
thank you
How can I get the plans to build my own.
Is there an existing blueprint?
