    Mike an essential is a drink carrier. The best one I have found is an inexpensive craft carrier from a craft store which can safely hold 6 drinks of any size. Invaluable. Those store cardboard drink carriers aren't guaranteed against drinks tipping while driving.

    • @YourDriverMike
      @YourDriverMike 3 года назад +5

      True I never trust those cardboard ones, I'll transfer to my cup holders then put them back to make the delivery.

    • @samhain9394
      @samhain9394 2 года назад +2

      Necro-posting here to add a tip:
      2 of those cardboard 2x2 carriers
      (Sonic has wider ones, Wingstop's has tighter ones)
      Set side-by-side in a shallow, wider box
      (taped inside to waterproof)
      about 10" deep x 2 ft wide
      (ask Whole Foods for a 9" pie box from their freezer stock for the par-bakes for exactly what I mean)
      ...or any plastic tub or tote or insulated bag that fits the carriers beside each other
      Then put a few of the eggshell carriers on their side beside the 2x2s to hold it all tight and cozy, and keep one (or all) box top panel flipped up for a backsplash
      Voila. Carrier magic. Put an eggshell carrier in the seat under the box to keep it level and seatbelt her in with the lap belt.
      Total: free, plus $1 for the tape at Dollar Tree.
      XL Pro tip: Put some of those plastic, 32oz deli cup containers in one row of the drink holder to contain juice boxes and other oddly-shaped items that tend to roll around on bumps and turns... They'll hold each cell of the carriers tight and make sure drinks dont knock each others' lids off and the stuff of our nightmares.
      Maybe a fistful of straws and plasticware in one, napkins in another, one full of hot sauce and ketchup, one with your favorite pump-sprayer of cleaner.....

    A body cam is quickly becoming a must in the dood delivery era. The one I have purchased has two major functions. 1) the video with a time and date stamp to proved the drop off and that I walked away not carrying any of the customers items. 2) Audio recording that way if I need to call Doordash or should they call me. I simply let them know the call is being recorded while having my phone on speakerphone and I tend to get better results then i have had in the past. (Whats more thats nice is it doesn’t keep me tethered to my car on my dash cam.)

    I have 2 H&C bags and I use a Rubbermaid carry caddy to hold up to 8 drinks. I’m debating on getting a pizza bag or catering bag. Most pizzas I get fit in my bag but occasionally someone orders a giant pie.

    • @YourDriverMike
      @YourDriverMike 3 года назад +2

      I'd say go bigger with the pizza bag, medium pizzas fit the DD/PM bags but anything bigger needs the Rubbermaid bag. If I had to choose b/w the catering bag or pizza bag I'd go catering bag as I feel like I get slightly more of those orders than pizza orders. Either is a good pick up in my opinion.

    Tinted Windows AND a Sun strip on your windshield to keep that sun from burning the side of your face with UV rays through the window while driving, and the bright sun out of your eyes! I have 30% Tint on my windows, and a 5% sunstrip on my windshield! I love it! I have had cars with 20% Tint on the windows, and that is even better on a sunny day, but just dark enough that you will roll your window down when turning left on a very dark street at night time. 30% light transmission coming in seems to be the perfect balance!

    I do my DD on a military installation. Dash cameras are not allowed. A body camera may not be allowed either due to the places I have to deliver for security reasons. They actually will stop you at the gate if they see such cameras and have you remove it. So I am hoping and praying that a timestamp picture will be enough.

Definitely seeing a lot of saturation in my market, and I took a few lowball orders out of desperation one night but I don't do that anymore. 2 question. I downloaded your earnings spreadsheet , but I just got approved for Uber Eats as well. Do you track your earnings from both on the same row in the sheet? (Combine deliveries, earnings, tips, etc) Thank you in advance!

    • @YourDriverMike

      Thanks Kash, if you want to use it for casual use then it's easier to combine data on one line (i.e. 4 hours, $120 dollars and this would include both apps). But for tax purposes if you want this to be a more official document for record keeping you may want to duplicate the sheet based on apps. (I'm not a CPA or tax expert so that's not legal tax advice)

      Hi Elijah, here's what DD says in their ToS:
      "While there is currently no minimum requirement for on-time/early rate, Dashers are responsible for making sure that deliveries they choose to accept are completed on time. In agreeing to the Independent Contractor Agreement Dashers agree to “complete delivery orders to consumers in a safe and timely fashion.“
      Therefore, regardless of their overall On-time/Early rate, Dashers who arrive at the merchant or customer significantly after estimated pick up or drop off times will be eligible for deactivation of their account for violating the terms of their ICA."

    I will also add that wearing a body camera might be a good idea for a few reasons. If a Food Delivery customer claims they did not get their order after you delivered it (Either directly to them, or left in front of their door with contactless delivery and you took a picture), you can show an actual video of you delivering the food to customer and leaving the area as definitive evidence that you did your job, and the customer is a lair. Send that video to Door Dash, Uber or whatever app as 100% proof. Apparently, taking a picture, even GPS time stamped isn't really enough. Customer service will take the customer's word over yours...especially if it is their first time claiming not to receive an order.

      @@mikicrypto305 it totally depends on the state. In Louisiana as long as the business doesn’t clearly have signs stating you can’t record or take pictures it’s perfectly legal. I was accused of sexually harassing a new driver in a restaurant and luckily the restaurant owner vouched for me and said they could even have his videos if needed but he suggested a body cam and after looking into the laws I got one and have had proof of restaurants lying to me, bad mouthing the company, not giving me the correct order and customers lying about not receiving food, getting cold or shaken up food (they can see hot bag and even how I drove the entire trip), and me supposedly being rude to them. I drive for two different apps working 70-95hrs every week and this piece of mind is SUCH good job security.

    Accessories? People need to buy thermal bags before they buy more accessories!!! I see delivery drivers every single day that don't use thermal bags. Regarding F-Stop, I'm afraid you're misinformed. A low F-Stop is bad for a dash cam. A low F-Stop like 1.8 reduces your depth of field (more light, but more out of focus as a drawback). There are many other things to look at regarding good night vision in a camera. Aperture is not one of them.
