Fans are definitely torn about this song. Some absolutely love it and some are not fans of the style. For me, this song is completely my style. It reminds me of the autotune affects that were used in some pop and punk songs in the mid 2000s. Not a sound I would listen to all the time but since it's so rare, that type of sound always stands out to me. The song is SO catchy. As for the MV, I like that they combined cute and sexy: Cute dances with sexy Taxi outfits. SNSD always balances classy/cute/sexy better than any other group I've seen.
I can see how it would have some split. The autotune was what really threw me off for some reason. It is very reminiscent of the mid-2000s songs, though. While editing this video, I got to hear bits of the song again. That chorus has gotten stuck in my head lol. I got to pay more attention to the dancing as well and noticed things I didn't see on my first watch. I like the driving motion they incorporated into it lol.
Korean stylists could not figure out what to do with Hyoyeon. The Japanese stylists found her look on the 1st try... she absolutely blossomed and hasn't looked back...
I can never get tired of Mr. Taxi!!! I am literally always playing that song on repeat but I listen to the Korean version because I can sing a bit in Korean and cannot do so in Japanese. Something Snsd never fails with is their ballads. They do have some of the best ballads in kpop from what I've listened to.
That chorus has been stuck in my head since I edited this video lol. I need to listen to the Korean version as well. And they've definitely surprised me with their ballads. I wasn't sure how much I would enjoy them at first.
