By far, the best video I'm going to see today. I actually started getting teary-eyed because it was so sweet. Karlie, Rhett and family, may you have a long and happy life together. 🥰
I was going deaf and I guess my dog knew. She actually made up her own sign/body language for me. She started with nose poking and then how she walked or turned or barked. 💕 I miss her, good pup.
What a beautiful bond you had with your dog! 💖 It’s amazing how pets can communicate in such special ways. Thank you for sharing your lovely memory! 🐾💕
I just stated that in my own (much LENGTHIER 😂) comment. 😊 Babies taught sign language very very rarely have tempter tantrums aged 2-3!!! Imagine if ALL parents knew that! 😁

I dated a farm girl when I was younger… I was going by the barn and the bull was about to charge me and kill me. The only thing that saved me was a small dog named pepper. She cut off the bull allowing me to get away over a fence. Pepper was exactly like your dog. They are great dogs. Love from Canada!

Very sweet. Ironically dogs/ Animals know you’re pregnant before you probably do. They can smell it in your hormones and are very aware of another life growing inside you. They’re very patient with us humans
🤧 aww he's super gorgeous, and perfect for your family. He and your daughter are going to have many happy years together and lots of fun and adventures. Cracking good video thanks for sharing 🖤😎👍
A Chocolate Lab once taught me dog sign language. When I asked him what he wanted, he licked his lips, but I didn’t get it. But when I followed him to the kitchen he did a happy dance and sat by his bowls next to the sink. This time when I asked him what he wanted he glanced up toward the kitchen faucet. That’s when I learned two signs for “water.”
@@CuddleBuddiesChannel It was very humbling, I can tell you. He must have thought I wasn't very bright. This is one of your best dog videos & I only wish it could have lasted 30 minutes or more. Thank you so much for all your wonderful videos with animals, birds & fish.
Makes sense. Dogs learn commands by hearing and sight. Stay is "stay" and an open hand facing forward. The visual command reinforces the verbal command. This is why you dont use verbal commands that rhyme like "stay" and "lay:" they sound too similar. Pointing at the ground can mean "down" or "lay" but not both. A dog has the verbal ability of a two year old: thats lots of words.
Absolutely, that’s a great observation! 🐶✨ Dogs are incredibly perceptive and can pick up on both verbal and visual cues. It's fascinating how they understand so much! Thanks for sharing your insights! 😊❤️
I have a question. And I am genuinely curious. If you were born deaf, how is it that you speak so perfectly? Why do other deaf people have so much trouble with speech? If you've never heard speech with an American accent, how are you able to pick it up? Not trolling, not skeptical, just wanting to be educated.
That's a really thoughtful question! 😊 There are a few factors that can influence how someone who is deaf develops speech. Some people who are born deaf may receive early interventions like speech therapy, cochlear implants, or hearing aids, which help them learn to speak. Others might rely more on sign language, lip reading, or other communication methods, so speech development can vary from person to person. Every journey is different, and it’s all about finding the best way to communicate. Thanks for being curious and open-minded! 🙌
Excellent question and one I wish more people asked! I have my own comment on this thread explaining some extra details that you may find useful...aside from the answer given here. Remember, hearing aids or cochlear implants don't FIX anyone's hearing, any more than glasses fix someone's eyesight. They are only useful when worn. That person is still DEAF regardless. This means when in the bath, swimming, or in bed at night, that person is still more vulnerable that the general public. They might not hear smoke alarms, gunshots, their family members yelling out in pain or for help, or an intruder breaking in. Hearing aids can be lost, or break, the batteries can die, or the tubes become stiff or blocked with wax. Cochlear implants are ONLY an option for those with zero or very little hearing at all. The scalp is cut to insert magnets on the crown of the head, and the actual real cochlear inside the ear, is destroyed by inserting the implants that will substitute their function. If someone has any level of hearing that can be amplified, then hearing aids are generally advised, because what little hearing they do have will be eradicated by inserting implants, so they're not suitable for everyone. They can also be incredibly disorienting and frightening when first getting used to them, so that in itself is a huge hurdle to overcome. They don't make someone hear in the same way we do. They hear speech in a kind of electrical metallic robot type of way which can be very alarming and disappointing at first. It's important to know also, that there are many deaf people who are against hearing aids or cochlear implants at all. That may be an odd thing to comprehend, but they can be quite passionately AGAINST the use of either, particularly in children. Why you might ask? Well, for the reasons I stated above...that gadgets aren't worn and switched on 24 hours a day. If people around them need to learn sign language ANYWAY, then they feel it is up to the parents to do more work to meet their child's needs, not just shove a device in to make it easier for them. Of course we may find that stance a little odd, and possibly even neglectful to DENY your child the best opportunities available to them. But they feel THEY are not broken, what's broken is society's lack of willingness to reach them where they're at. I guess you could look at it like a child with Dyslexia. Is the CHILD broken? Many years ago, yes, the child would be labelled Lazy or Unintelligent, right? Whereas now Dyslexia is more understood, it's the TEACHING that was wrong for THAT particular child. They have as much potential for learning as any other child, but their brains just process things differently to how the majority of people's do. Some people use an iPhone, some use an Android Phone. Some people listen to records, some listen to cassettes. Some people write emails, some still write letters and post them. All of these things achieve the same thing, right? But use different ways to get there. Same as a Dyslexic brain does. So I guess that's a good way to look at understanding why some Deaf people are NOT in favour of gadgets to fix someone's hearing. They feel they are born the way they were meant to be, and it needn't be a Disability, if everyone else learnt to speak THEIR language. They definitely have a point with that, children in school are taught foreign languages, yet can't communicate with a deaf child in their own country, in their own class at school, because they aren't taught how to. Anyway, I'll shut up now before you wish YOU were mentally "deaf" 😂 Find my comment amongst the others for a few other points to consider or learn. And thank you for being willing to understand and ask a question that many choose to ignore, as it doesn't affect them...yet! 😘 xxxxx

I still don't get people yelling to dogs to make them follow orders, I move my hands in a certain way (not signing language) and my dogs understand me just fine.
*WARNING! THIS GOT LONGGGG!* SO DON'T MOAN AFTERWARDS IF YOU CHOOSE TO READ IT! 😂 Such a beautiful thing to see, the extra care and attention you were willing to go to. A beautiful little family. 💖 ........................... Just some interesting notes to throw in here = + Many children are born deaf each year. +Our hearing children are taught foreign languages in school, but not taught to speak to the deaf in their community. +Whilst I appreciate learning a new language does vast things for your brain's development, other than being able to speak to people of that country, it leaves a LOT of children isolated and shut out within our own communities. Their lives are already compromised, such as not hearing an intruder or a fire alarm going off, but it often leaves them socially very lonely. +I encourage everyone to learn sign language, but just be clear you are learning the sign language for your COUNTRY! +For example, this lady use ASL - American Sign Language, so if you're like me, I'm English, you'd need to learn BSL - British Sign Language. Each country has their own versions so be consistent with your learning. +Did I mention how easy it is? My Son was born deaf, so me and my older Daughter immediately signed up for BSL at a local college. Our teacher was deaf herself... *AND* non verbal!!! I thought that would make her teaching and us learning very difficult! How wrong I was! We did a two-hour class every week, and by the end of the FIRST lesson we knew the alphabet, numbers, and around 50 words! It is CRAZY how easy it is to learn! Honestly, I'm no genius, I promise it is FAR FAR easier than you think it would be. *LASTLY... and YES, I definitely saved the best for last!* 😜 +For all of you out there who think "this all sounds lovely, but I'm not deaf and I don't know anyone who is?" *WRONG!* Do you have children, or plan to, or have a baby on the way? *Your own baby is "deaf"* ...🤔... *HEAR ME OUT...* (no pun intended 😁) Your baby is more likely to be born NOT DEAF... in regards to HEARING at least. But EVERY BABY is WORD DEAF! Just because they can HEAR YOU, doesn't mean they have any clue as to what you're SAYING, right? Well, you know of course that one of the joys of having children is "The Terrible Twos" (😵) Stamping their toddler feet and screaming NO, throwing themselves down flat on the supermarket floor whilst every other adult looks at you as incompetent or abusive - or both! Getting them dressed and out the door can be a battle of wills that goes on for so long, that by the time you've stapled their shoes on their feet and duct-taped their coat on them like a straitjacket, you've forgotten what you were going out for and are no longer able to face it anyway! Why does this happen? Because they're more intelligent than their vocabulary can express. They can't reason, debate, explain feelings or symptoms of illness. They can HEAR you, but they mostly pick up on your facial expression and tone of voice. If you're getting angry it makes them feel frustrated because they can't just have an ordinary conversation with you. Now imagine if your baby never went through this stage...! 😮 I know! Sign me up right...? 😂 Learn Sign Language and use it with your baby from BIRTH! You can even just learn Parenting and Child based words if you don't want to learn the entire language. Words such as: Bath, Bed, Bottle, Milk, Sleep, Read, Book, Teddy Bear, Grandma, Grandpa, Mum, Dad, Brush Your Teeth, Dinner, Breakfast, Coat, Shoes, Drink, Warm, Cold, Cuddle, Love You, Goodnight, Hungry, Thirsty, Pain, Wash, Yes, No, Wait, Doll, Stroller, Nappy (Diaper), Draw, Like, Don't Like, Good, Naughty, Friend, Shop, Car, School, Dog, Cat, Bird, Baby, Happy, Sad, Juice and Snack. Wow, I had to really think then to create a list of 50 words or phrases that would even be needed for an infant from birth! The thing with Sign Language is you don't need to learn whole sentences and paragraphs to be able to communicate with ANY deaf person, although of course you can progress to that. But it is SCIENTIFICALLY proven, that babies taught Sign Language from birth, RARELY have temper tantrums. I'm not saying they will be little angels, but they have no need to have unreasonable meltdowns. I've watched babies as young as SIX MONTHS OLD, sign to ask for Milk or Tired! Yes, SIX MONTHS OLD! My Daughter's first word was "SHIT" at 6 month's old...🙄 It was a proud moment...(fellow Brits will understand that humour...😂) Obviously I hadn't used Sign Language with her, so her vocabulary was VERY limited up to the age of 3, which is when she suddenly just started talking in whole sentences! 3 years old! She just suddenly started talking non stop... she's almost 36 now and still not shut up! 🤣 Ok I'm waffling on down memory lane over here now, so I will do YOU all a favour and zip it now! 🤐 But first, PLEASE learn Sign Language and PLEASE don't think it only applies or serves your life if you know someone who is deaf! Hearing can be lost at any point, after Meningitis for example in childhood, and many children have bouts of deafness due to ear infections etc, that can last a few days to a few months. You don't have to have broken ears to be considered "DEAF". Any infections, allergies, foreign objects or excessive wax can be a VALID cause of DEAFNESS. And just imagine being the only parent going shopping or out eating with a toddler, who DOESN'T need a shoe horn to prise their planked child off the restaurant floor, or the need to hiss veiled threats at them in whispers whilst smiling at passers-by as if there's "nothing to see here".... 😉
When I was in school I was unwillingly raised as a Jehovah’s Witness. I was an outcast. My only friend was the deaf guy and he taught me enough to be great friends. I hope he’s doing well. I’m a vehement atheist now so I’m doing very well.
Jehovah's Witness is a cult not true Christianity. Jesus is Love and you need Him. He loves you so much. He is our only Salvation. He is The Way, The Truth, and The Life. Don't reject Him because of a bad religious experience ❤
@@suzyhajny Jeezus isn’t real and isn’t gonna save anyone from anything. I’m 64. I’m too educated at this point in life to be afraid of/believe in imaginary sky fairies. My condolences to those who do. Education is the vaccine for religious disease. I’m fully vaxxed. And if that’s not enough, please justify the uncountable lives killed for ‘jeezus.’ No one can. Sorry.
EXCELLENT QUESTION AND THE ANSWER IS NO!!! THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE IN FACT! I have a longer comment amongst the others, PLEASE do search for it and read it, as it explains the answer to your question in even more detail than I have here...and GUARANTEE it will give you details about babies and sign language you NEVER knew was even possible! 😜

I’m deaf, too! Sometimes we use sign language and words even when we’re deaf!! I love sign language!! Especially ASL.
After listening to you talk I would’ve not guessed that you’re deaf, let alone from birth. Well done!
Not surprising, it’s a working dog breed. Very intelligent dogs.
Our deaf girl (rip) would not look at you when she was in trouble or did not want to 'listen' she was the sweetest girl
What is so cool is that babies learn to sign quicker than taking!
My grandparents were both deaf and Blind and I learned to sign as quickly if not quicker than stringing sentences together.
I just stated that in my own (much LENGTHIER 😂) comment. 😊

My Daughter's first word was "SHIT" at 6 month's old...🙄
It was a proud moment...(fellow Brits will understand that humour...😂)
Obviously I hadn't used Sign Language with her, so her vocabulary was VERY limited up to the age of 3, which is when she suddenly just started talking in whole sentences! 3 years old! She just suddenly started talking non stop... she's almost 36 now and still not shut up! 🤣
Ok I'm waffling on down memory lane over here now, so I will do YOU all a favour and zip it now! 🤐
But first, PLEASE learn Sign Language and PLEASE don't think it only applies or serves your life if you know someone who is deaf!
Jehovah’s Witness
What did you witness? Was it terrible?
Glad you’re doing well, relief to be outta that part of your life.
Jehovah's Witness is a cult not true Christianity. Jesus is Love and you need Him. He loves you so much. He is our only Salvation. He is The Way, The Truth, and The Life. Don't reject Him because of a bad religious experience ❤

Jeezus isn’t real and isn’t gonna save anyone from anything. Sorry.

Will teaching a baby sign language slow her speaking development?
EXCELLENT QUESTION AND THE ANSWER IS NO!!!
THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE IN FACT!
I have a longer comment amongst the others, PLEASE do search for it and read it, as it explains the answer to your question in even more detail than I have here...and GUARANTEE it will give you details about babies and sign language you NEVER knew was even possible! 😜

Rhett’s coat pattern resembles that of the African wild dog. What happened to his tail?
Dogs know before human does that they're pregnant.

Wow- for someone who was born deaf, her speech sounds pretty normal. Maybe she’s only slightly deaf?
How does a def person learn to speak if they’ve never heard sounds before?
