Thanks for letting me know Jo - I actually just posted this one: ruclips.net/video/L-Sy28qk5Fo/видео.html You may have seen it though... I do plan on doing more of these, they are fun! Actually, you have seen it, we chatted about those stripped hearts.
Sunkissed page background reminded me of tiles like a pool dressing room, shower or pool deck might have. Great use of a patterned paper and an idea i don’t think i’ve used before. Bravo!
I think all your layouts are beautiful masterpieces. I love, love, love them all. You have done so very well to create so many beautiful layouts. I think it is just too hard to pick a favourite. I do love any layout that uses bows. I am always making bows for my layouts. Thank you so much for sharing all your beautiful creations with us and all your wonderful tutorials throughout the year.🙂❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love the layout you chose as number 1. They were all wonderful! I love your critiques of your work!!!! It has inspired me to do some critical thinking of my own work and how I scrap!!!
Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed this video. I think it is important to look back on projects and see how you can make them better, not to be mean or hyper critical but to just see what lessons were learned in the making process. There will always be things I'd do differently and that's ok. I also like to see them in order that I made them, it shows me how I've changed as a creative.
34 and 45 are my favorites. On 34, i liked the colors matching well with the lightness of the photo, the journal title beside the photo, the addition of a shaker, the placement of the embellishments and your choice of them. On 45, i loved the unexpected shaker part, the placement and choice of embellishments, the way the rainbow actually mimics the angle of the top and left page border stripe - something it took a while to notice. I appreciated the blue page as signifying sky. Funny enough, the photo at first glance is a distraction because of the oval window white space. Since i take photos on airplanes, too, my suggestion is to take the photo from an angle instead to allow your daughter’s face and book to occupy the space rather than the window. Looks like it should have a face where the light is. We use what we capture. Decided not to list all my other choices as i have commented on several in other comments as it is. Overall…Love the way you frame the pages, actually love white backgrounds and need to start doing this, love the large quantity of embellishments you use and your eye for placement, enjoy cut files but want more alternatives, and I like when you add tags, tabs, labels, frames and other stuff. You are super creative! You have given me lots of new ideas for the tons of product i already have. Thank you! Did like page of your husband but clearly you need more guy elements as it was barely embellished, haha. I did ask in another comment for more guy pages. I have invested in some since i have a son and grandson. You may get even more on board if you include more guy pages, etc. Just a thought! Hope i haven’t insulted you, don’t mean to. Also enjoy your card ideas and need to look at your mini book projects next.
Thanks for taking the time to let me know your thoughts Rhonda and you shared them in a very kind and thoughtful way, I appreciate that! Yes, boy pages are not really my thing. Glad these projects have inspired you, that's always my hope 🙏 🙏 🙏
Your videos and tips are invaluable! After watching a few today and feeling inspired, I completed 3 layouts - unheard of for me! I would love to see more layouts using punches since I don't have an electronic cutting machine. Thanks for sharing!
Loved seeiny your 2023 layouts. Both 11 an 8 were my favourites, they really spoke to me as a scrapbooker...I still have pictures made by my kids in my utility room stuck on cupboards, i think i need to record them on a page, especially as my 'children ' are 31, 28 and 25! And i have grandchildren now too. I would love more pages for those of us without electronic cutting machines. I do have plenty of punches and dies, but never really got on with my electronic machine.
“Good things ahead” page showed me you really can use patterned paper where traditionally solids or at best ombre are used. I don’t have a large format Cricut nor cut files but appreciated the idea nonetheless! Thank you!
Thanks so much Rhonda... I am a fan of a pattern paper that's for sure. You just have to be a little strategic about which ones you use where. So glad you are enjoying the videos. 🌷
I enjoyed the recap. I would love to see more of the cut file/ punch layouts. I love the look of cut files but I haven’t been able to commit to which one I would want to invest in.
Gwen thank you for sharing your beautiful pages! Your style really shines thru :) My top three favorites are #34, #7, and #5. Although your ugly Christmas paper layout is a stunner as well (I think it was up in the 20's and has a tree). I noticed that you machine stitch on quite a few layouts and that reminds me how much I enjoyed the look of stitching. Just the nudge I need to to finally make a plan to take my sewing machine in for repair lol
I'm so so glad you enjoyed these Jeane! Thanks for letting me know your favourites, it was so so hard for me to choose one over another and even when I watch this back there were some I was thinking should have been ranked higher 🫣 Yes! Get that sewing machine in for repair, you're going to need it in 2024 🎉
I would love to see more alternative to cut file layouts. I don’t have an e-cutter as I just don’t have the space. I would also like to see more vintage style layouts. Happy New Year to you and your family from Alberta, Canada! 🎉🇨🇦
Such an interesting review Gwen, thanks. Love all your creations, but especially 11 (your daughter’s kindy pictures!) and also the punched layouts as I don’t have a electronic cutting machine - yes, more of those please! Best wishes for 2024, Sue from WA
Thank you so much Sue... yes, that page really is a special one. Funny, thing is that the video for that one did do very "well" it didn't seem like a page people were interested in, it is one of my most favourite though, it's super speical.
Gwen, you gave me a scare at the beginning. I am glad you are not stopping your channel! Your pages are all beautiful. One feature that I would like to adopt in my pages is the patterned paper borders. I really love that look. I watched this video in 2 segments so I don’t have the numbers but the Pinkfresh Studio layouts with the envelopes were my favorite. I really think you did a great job of incorporating them creatively. As to your questions, I do scrapbook about myself. I am not doing so well for my childhood photos, however. I started a 6x8 album 5-6 years ago and it is on my list to get back to it. The album was a class and uses an older Maggie Holmes collection, which is much too vintage and “yellowed” for my tastes. I am thinking of redoing everything with a collection I like now; perhaps a Simple Stories vintage one or 49th and Market. We’ll see. Finally, I am one follower which would appreciate a cut file looking layout with punches and dies. Thanks for all your work. Wishing you and your family a Happy New Year! Jeannine
That was a little bit cheeky of me wasn't it 😬😬😬 I really love that Pink Fresh page too, that one came together so well! I totally understand what you mean by "yellowed" vintage collections, I'm not a fan of those either... love your idea to go with either Simple Stories or 49th and Market... I am a bigger fan of Simple Stories myself, but that's just me. I have a few of you who enjoyed those punches and cut files layouts so I think I will add to that series sometime over this coming year, thanks for letting me know about that. Thank you so much for your encouragement and kind words you share here, wishing you and your beautiful family an amazing 2024 filled with fun! 🎉 xo
Gwen, I'm not a scrapbook maker, But... I just purged a file cabinet and have a box of photos, cards, and mementos in my face! I guess it's time to create homes for them!😂 It's great you are doing a flip through to wrap up the year... Happy New Year 🎉!
Oh how fun Karen! It's always nice to stumble across old photos... seems some scrapbooking may just be in your future. I am planning lots of cards next year too so stay tuned for that.
One of my sisters nrver thought she was creative but started scrapbooking by making a single page layout as a gift to be framed. She has done sone of the most creative pages since, especially using unexpected scrapbook page background papers. Do not limit yourself with a themed design like
…like children’s stuff for a child’s photo. Use a color from the photo or just a paper you like. I once bought a neutral 49 and Market pad for its paint washed look because i was on a trip without my materials. I forced myself to use the pad for any photos i had. Was a fun challenge. Maybe start by deciding on size of album or frame size if you opt to do that. But a permanent and temporary adhesive tape runner. Take a few photos to the store and buy single sheets of paper you feel goes with each photo. Peruse stickers and cut outs of flowers etc to coordinate. Then go home and move stuff around. You can adhere photos temporarily with the temporary adhesive. When you go to permanently adhere, attach stuff in the center of the item so you can tuck decorations under each other. My glue stuck stuff later came off so unless you find a really good glue stick, go with adhesive tapes or just rolls of double-sided tapes. Been scrapbooking 26 years.
Gwen, as you will likely recall, i am a relatively new viewer (I came onboard at the start of your ugly Christmas paper series). I am so glad i found your channel. I have loved (and learned from them all). I look forward to seeimg what you have in store for us in 2024. Thanks so much. ❤😊 PS, one of my challenges this year was to challenge myself to make an Autumn Wedding card. I have a customer who orders my Wedding Cards 5 at a time. So i made it for her (free of charge) cuz i knew she would give me honest feedback. Phew, thankfully she loved it. 😊
Yes Brenda 🎀 I remember... so so glad you enjoyed this one, now you know what projects I have that you can go back and watch the tutorials for and perhaps recreate. Glad I'm not the only one who stumbles when it comes to important photos like weddings... gahhh!! So glad your friend loved the Wedding cards you made for her!
Hi, Gwen. Since I don’t make scrap books, I almost clicked off (after clicking the like button…I want to support you) but I was intrigued by the layouts as it is something I use in card making but on a much smaller scale. I’m glad I watched to the end. I liked #22…thought the use of the squares to make a tree was really cute. Since the one thing card and scrapbook makers have in common is tons of patterned paper, it gave me ideas. Also liked the use of the washi tape in #23.
Ohhh, I'm so glad you stayed too! I have more cards planned for 2024 so I'm glad you stuck around. It's always so good when inspiration can cross over lots of our paper craft projects. 🌸 I truely do appreciate your support xox
Replicating cut files? I wanna see more! We also can use two sizes of same shapes to recreate the framed shapes. I know i have a square punch with two sizes that would work! I only have a Cricut Joy but i bet i can make thin cut file words or designs to back with patterned or solid papers. Can you do a series on thin cut files to fit a joy even if you don’t have a joy (the reverse of my problem)? Thanks for showing all the projects. I liked a lot of your low scored scrapbooked pages too! (Still watching for other projects). Many had great ideas…simplicity, use of colors, placement of embellishments, etc, even for long-time scrapbookers who (I discovered myself) haven’t been as creative as you. Have an idea for you! Create an idea book (got the idea from Layle By Mail) with 2023 ideas then list the coordinating tutorial videos. Can be a digital version and can provide links to the actual videos! Layle did this and it is brilliant! I’d buy it but if you use the idea, simply provide me a free copy each year! You are that good!
Replicating Cut files is added to my list ✅ A lot of my designs will already fit the Joy, you just need to choose one that are more rectangular in shape than square if that makes sense. Avoid any that are in the 'backgrounds' category. The idea book sounds fun... I'll check out Layle too.
Snapped screenshots of like ten favorites all for different reasons. I will detail it after i go through and note why. All great pages but i think you may be surprised at viewer picks.
Such pretty layouts. I’d love to see more in the series about recreating layouts without cutfiles.
Thanks for letting me know Jo - I actually just posted this one: ruclips.net/video/L-Sy28qk5Fo/видео.html You may have seen it though... I do plan on doing more of these, they are fun! Actually, you have seen it, we chatted about those stripped hearts.
Number one is my fave too!! They are all awesome, but I love how that one captures Cait as she is now! Cutie!
Yeah, it really does show her personality doesn't it. It's very 'Gwen' and it's very her too! 💗
Sunkissed page background reminded me of tiles like a pool dressing room, shower or pool deck might have. Great use of a patterned paper and an idea i don’t think i’ve used before. Bravo!
Thank you so so much!
Thank you for the journey Gwen! As a brazilian mom, I have tons of summer photos and you inspired me!
I'm so glad! ☀️
