Yeah, I kind of prefer the Mach E for several reasons but on technical specs, especially that DCFC curve, e-GMP is undoubtable best for money (though no charger routing is a HUGE miss for a car designed to road trip.) Between Ioniq and EV6 I prefer the EV6, I personally hate the Ioniq interior design, though the EV6 is definitely not as cargo or headroom practical.
I appreciate you mentioning that the Tesla's large frunk is possible because of its long hood and large front overhang. One of the primary criticisms of the EV6 in relation to Tesla is the EV6's small frunk, but you're the first reviewer I've seen who put it in context. Some reviewers and many commenters attribute the small frunk to poor packaging, when in reality, it is a result of the EV6's low, sloping hood and ultra-short front overhang. Which are unique styling choices made possible by the dedicated electric platform, while also allowing massive passenger space within mid-size exterior dimensions.
@@GreenBlueWalkthrough they also all have longer front overhangs and far more space between the passenger cabin and the front of the vehicle, just like the Model S. But is it really expected? Lots of cars without an engine in front do not have a frunk. And not just tiny sports cars, but big people haulers like the Toyota Tarago. Sure, Kia could have stretched the nose of the EV6 forward to provide a frunk, but it would have also affected the styling, made the car physically larger, harder to manuever in tight spaces, heavier, and more expensive. Alternatively, they could have pushed the passenger cabin back to provide space for a frunk, but then there would be less passenger and rear cargo space, and the addition of the frunk would not come anywhere near offsetting the space lost in the cabin. The obsession with having a big frunk at the cost of everything else is more about novelty and distinction than practicality.
@@GreenBlueWalkthrough It's a pretfy silly expectation. The hardware can be packaged a variety of ways, and the most efficient packaging usually doesn't leave a lot of unnecessary space in the car's nose unless that's the only space for a trunk. Mid-engined and rear-engined cars have frunks because they have so little room in back. That's just the way their equipment is packaged.

Now, the question is when will the EV6, Ioniq5 and all the other pure EVs actually be available for purchase at MSRP or below. The price gouging on new (and used) (even on ICE cars) is simply out of control.
Yea it is insane. I paid $2k over MSRP however I justified by the $7,500 tax credit and massive savings in gas. i end up owing taxes every year so the tax credit really helps and figured I better purchase the car with the tax credit before Kia sells too many EV's which will most likely be soon.
I appreciate that you take the time to acknowledge where the vehicles are different because they're targeted at different consumers and price points. Some people just just throw all electric vehicles into the same bucket.
There was not that crazy of a price difference between the Model S and EV6 prior to the $30k price increases since the start of 2021: the Model S was selling for just under $70k from Oct 2020 to Jan 2021. So either it was a $100k vehicle massively underpriced and buyers got them for an absolute steal or Tesla is capitalizing on the supply vs demand dynamic to take in profit on what should be a $70k vehicle and with a price difference that makes more sense for the value added. We need more competition to push these prices down
Hopefully you are back next week without bruises from the hail! Great review - your reviews always come across as very objective, so your comparison is a great way to see how two cars line up against each other without watching a dozen videos!
I am always very impressed with your reviews. You give the information I need to make a buying decision. I have the same exact EV6 that you have - same trim, same color, etc. I have had it for a little over a month and I daily drive it about 100 miles per day for 5 days week and I only charge it on the 110v and can get through the week easily. So far I am extremely impressed with the EV6 and it never gets old flooring it. On the highway I keep it in ECO mode and use the excellent HDA however off the highway I always keep it in sport mode. My previous car was a newer Lexus RX350 and the car before that was a 2021 Corvette HTC Z51. The Lexus was a great car but a huge snore to drive. I really loved the C8 however it just did not make a good daily driver and I sold it when I could still at least break even on it. The EV6 has been a great car for me since it is fun to drive like the C8 but still rides very comfortably with a slight sporty feel. I will be getting a level 2 charger installed soon as my local electric company is rolling out a program for $38 a month for unlimited charging and they come out and install the level 2 charger without any upfront cost and maintain it. The caveat is they configure it to only charge during off peak hours but that is 7:00 PM to 9:00 AM M-F and unlimited on the weekend which are the times I would be charging it anyways. Keep up the great reviews!

how about mention of EV6 no battery preconditional and no battery heater in RWD model? make rwd model almost useless during even a mild weather at 35F. (1 hour and 20 mins charging to 80%)
All EV6s heat and cool the battery. The heat pump is optional and battery conditioning is done by "winter mode" in the infotainment. A more direct "precondition" option for fast charging supposedly is happening soon but when "winter mode" is enabled the battery will be kept in the right window for DC charging with only limited exceptions.

This is not correct. The lack of the battery heater feature does not mean the car cannot heat the battery at all. The battery heater is honestly oddly named and the appropriate term would be “additional battery heater”. I have discussed this in depth with the EGMP platform engineers. The cabin heater and heater loop will heat the battery as well, but it will take longer to achieve the same temperature profile if you don’t get the battery heater. The coolant loop is the same in both, the battery heater is not a PTC heater in the coolant loop, it’s a heater pad essentially on the pack in addition to the water loop.
