@@blastmole299 I can’t resist using Banish decks against graveyard spam.
Not only is it satisfying to remove their entire gimmick from play, but to boost my own monsters’ powers to be giant beat sticks acting as way too tempting of a target for my opponent instead of them popping the real threats in the back row is fun.

Maigc Cylinder is still a fantastic card today. The other day, I lost to a Labrynth player because of it. The match had lasted 19 turns and I managed to completely outlast it and clear their board, but I realized right when I was dealing the final blow that I had forgotten about the Magic Cylinder they had set literally 14 turns ago. It was a respectable loss - I outclassed Labrynth with something that isn't meta, and the loss was my own fault for forgetting.

I like having a way to nuke backrow. As far as I know, among the meta decks, only SHS has a in engine mass backrow removal (that they likely don't play).

    • @MrShukaku1991

Thats because nowadays backrow are pretty much just "Negate everything and your mom" archetypal counter trap, Starter/extender quickplay/normal spell that your backrow hate does nothing against, and sometimes a field spell.

I have a little story, involving one of the key card's in this video:
So my classmate, later friend got interested in the game back in around 2006-2007, so we went to a local store. A guy with the ego of the sun challenged my friend, with his Cyber Dragon deck.
    "I'll beat ya in seconds!"
    "Let's see it"
The dude summoned Cyber End Dragon with - you guessed it - with Power Bond, and said: "It's already over, lol"
My buddy flipped over a card, freezing everyone in silence.
"Thanks for the duel" he smiled.
The card in question was Magic Cylinder. Never saw that CD guy again.
Magic Cylinder still a Trap card nobody should underestimate.

As fun as this video is, my personal experience is, I play Wicked Worm Beast and Fisure then end my turn. My opponent plays a 20 card combo that automatically destroys all card on my side of the field while also summoning Diamond Dimension Dragon or something. Then I play Celtic Guardian and lose next turn.
The modern TCG is no place for a player from the early 2000's.

I encountered a similar opponent like that a few months ago but I had a unique response. The aromages revolve around gaining LP and one of those cards it’s Aroma Candle, gain 500 LP at the end phase and can’t be destroyed by battle if flipped. So after I ended my turn and my opponent ended theirs, I flipped the candle, summoned an aromage monster that can return 1 spell/trap card if I gain LP, and slowly gained LP as they kept setting up until they had to discard cards.

With the new Bakura support coming out, old-school YGO is becoming popular to use. The moment you use Dark Sanctuary and two Chain Energy against Dark Magician decks, it feels satisfying, especially if you use Chaos Hunter.

I summon [insert monster that wipes backrow]. I prefer facing old school burn than stun. Beating old school just requires some deckbuilding choice (to have access to backrow removal) while beating stun requires drawing the out.

If he didn't have cylinder, marshmallon would of finished the duel because he wouldn't have any other way to get the marshmallon off the field without using a card that gets sent to the GY, activating skull invitation. He was cooked either way.

I play a lot of jank in Plat V so I come across these decks more often than usual, and when I do there are 2 cards that tend to royally screw them: Ra'ten and S:P.
As long as you don't actually attack, Ra'ten can eat backrow every single turn, and despite not seeing any reason to include S:P in most of my other decks and doubting its capabilities even as every Yugituber talked about it like its the most broken card since pre-errata CED or Crush Card Virus, it's saved me from Cylinder on at least *THREE* separate occasions. AKA: 75% of the time Cylinder has been used on me since S:P came out.

They ruined this game. Konami is catering to noobs and people without critical thinking. They made it way too easy to summon monsters now, a baby can do it. Turn one player player should not be allowed to special summon more than 5 times on that specific turn. Its just completely unfair to turn two player that still cant even play becsuse he technically hasn't even started the game yet. It makes the game one sided from jump and doesnt allow for both players having a fair start so both players have an equal chance of winning. Dont get mr wrong ive been watching and playing Yu-Gi-Oh since day 1 it came out. But seeing where it is today, its just not right they made this game too easy theres. Konami ended up catering to the noobs and kids after all. I stand on what i say. Turn one player should not be able to special summon more than 5 times on that first turn. They ruined the game a person shouldn't be able to go through jalf their deck on turn one. Man this game went down the toilet

While I do agree that most decks doesnt require much brainpower to use, I dissagree about not having a chance. There is going second specific cards, also kaijus and sphere mode, lava golem too, dark ruler, droplet, all the handtraps :D also also turn 2 player can open insane too just like turn 1 player can brick (ofc some decks just cant brick but whatever)
