- SEASON 2 (2024) - EPISODE 3
ABOUT POLAR BEAR BEACH - This sweet little beach is only a 14 minute drive from the Big Fiddle in Sydney NS. The land is owned by private citizens but they let locals use the beach. There is a parking lot, no facilities, no lifeguards. Yes it has cell reception. Nearest gas station/convenience store is in Whitney Pier.
Nearby is the South Bar sandbar. Across the water you can see North Sydney and Sydney Mines.
📺 ABOUT THIS CHANNEL - In 2023 I decided it would be fun to try to visit all the beaches on Cape Breton Island. I read somewhere there are around 80. I don’t know how long this will take - I’m just gonna go one by one.

Another delightful video in this wonderful series. A tiny hidden gem.
Excellent Video . Like all of us , Polar Bear is showing it's age but still a great place for a dip .
Thank you :) I agree, it is still a gem.

Thanks for bringing me along. :)
Absolutely my pleasure
So neat. I grew up here.
Very nice spot :)
What a great little video. The stairs at Polar Bear used to go right to the bottom and we’re in pretty good shape back in the late 90’s, but the North Atlantic winter was hard on it… there is deeper water there off to the left, and many adventurous souls would jump off of the cliff about half way up the bank. It used to get so crowded that there would be no room for parking down in the parking area, as well as on the sidewalk along the highway. Some days it seems like a lifetime ago… but I remember it like it was yesterday
Wow! Cliff jumping, I never would have guessed!! Thank you for your insightful comment. Love comments like these. Welcome to the channel.
My mom would take us to Polar Bear. We loved swimming there, would stay in the water until our lips turned blue and our fingers wrinkled.
Hi Barbara, Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Love reading the comments. :)
