    I have made an update to this table since this video. I noticed that when trying to make bevel cuts on the table saw that the dust port would hit the frame. I would suggest moving the saw from 0-full bevel to make sure your frame is wide enough.

      I’m in the middle of making the what I call the “Travis Out feed table” so what your saying is to make sure the frame that attaches to the stand is wide enough for the dust port ?

      Ya. Set the saw to a max degree bevel cut and build around where the dust port sticks out. I missed this the first time. I made a quick fix for now but I plan to rebuild the frame and make some plans for my website.

      You probably could. Would have to take the router out before folding up. Yes, it's stable. If I stood on it the entire table saw would probably flip over before the outfeed table breaks. Haha.

    Looking at doing this to 7485. You have best solution I have seen. With smaller saw I may try less robust frame and table. Yours seems heavy on out feed. Thanks for the inspiration.

    I made this today from your idea. Happily, I noticed the bevel issue before mounting the frame, so that sort of took care of itself. One thought for you... you might want to route out grooves in the outfeed to accommodate runoff by a miter gage or large sled.
    Let's start looking at an infeed for this table now!! Ha! Great vids. Thanks very much!

    • @HowIDoThingsDIY
      @HowIDoThingsDIY  3 года назад

      Awesome! I commented and also made plans on my website of the 3rd iteration of this table to fix the bevel issue. Im still trying to decide if I want to cut in grooves. I find every time I use something that uses the miter slots, I don't need the outfeed table so I just told it down.

    • @unixgeek13
      @unixgeek13 3 года назад

      @@HowIDoThingsDIY my folded down outfeed surface ended up a bit too high. Anything in the miter slot still hits the outfeed, whether it's folded, or not. My bad on that one. Still... your design makes great sense. Thanks VERY much!

    Excellent solution to an annoying and common problem. Sadly, I just recently sold my DW7491 and replaced it with a full-sized cabinet saw. The manufacturer of the new saw offers an optional all-metal folding outfeed table, but it's fairly expensive, and I think, over-engineered. I believe I'm going to use a variation of your design to add both outfeed AND side-support folding tables to the new cabinet saw. Thanks for planting the seed...

    Travis, 2 quick questions, and a comment...
    Do you think using 3/4" MDF would work for this project, or might it be too heavy?
    How come you didn't rout out a couple slots for the miter tracks? Acturally, maybe the gap between the table and saw makes that unnessesary?
    Great idea and plans Travis, and nice video editing! Getting started right away on this.
    Gene

    • @HowIDoThingsDIY
      @HowIDoThingsDIY  Год назад +1

      I would use plywood. MDF chips in the corners and doesn't have the same support strength. You can cut miter slots if you want. I just fold my table down when I use my sled. I was concerned miter slots would weaken the table. However, I've seen others add that to my design. Thanks!

    • @HowIDoThingsDIY
      @HowIDoThingsDIY  Год назад

      They probably will work but they may hang over the frame of the saw a bit when folded down. FYI, I did find an issue with my original design when making 45 degree bevel cuts. I had to adjust the frame so the dust port will clear. I addressed that in my plans if your interest. If not, just make sure you take that into consideration.

    Can't help but notice your handle for pulling the saw on wheels is upside down, the pads where it bolts to the frame are designed to be the low point.

  • @kyleedugger
    @kyleedugger 6 месяцев назад +1

    Your handle on the stand is installed backwards. The handle should point up and the two pipe ends should curve up not down. The little rubber pad should be on the other side of the pipe where they can sit in contact with the ground. This all effects the length of the outfeed table unfortunately for those of us who have this installed correctly.

      I replied to your Etsy message. I definitely recommend 3/4" for strength and stiffness. You can usually buy a smaller piece.

  • @josephlebo7320
    @josephlebo7320 Год назад

    Just about to make this, but two quick questions: 1) did you square off the rounded edges of the 2x4s? and 2) for the pieces that make up the small frame attached to the saw, do they end up all being 1.5" x 1.5" or so?

    • @HowIDoThingsDIY
      @HowIDoThingsDIY  Год назад

      You don't have to square off the 2x4s, but you can if you like. I ripped 2x4' in half and the flipped 90 degrees to make sure they were square. By the time I cleaned the "2x2" in half, they were 1 3/8"

Wasn't happy with the fence on the cordless dewalt ether, so made my own T square type of fence.
