love how you experimented and layered the different shades, such a different perspective on such a popular and overused palette! definitely gave me a few new ideas on how should experiment more with it.
Omg!!! I adore that you go through each color and how to mix them. Neutralising and punching up etc. I watch w watercolor videos and always wish I could watch palette videos that go into the color schemes as deeply. Best video ever.
This series is the best thing on youtube right now. So detailed, so many looks. I just picked this palette up recently (I adore mattes and virtually never use shimmers but love the ultra mattes) and noticed, too, that the pink shade is crazy bright and pigmented, indeed very easy to have it take over a look. Such a great video, ty so much, Kat!
Golden Ochre is one of my favourite shades too! Loved this video, loved all the idea to make the palette work for you when you aren't into warm tones at the moment so you can wear it all year round!!
This series is so inspiring - I pulled out my Modern Renaissance last month and was just bored. You created such beautiful looks that I want to give it another go! Looking forward to seeing the LORAC review - I'm hoping it will convince me to buy it already. I've had it in my cart for months and just can't commit 😋
this look is just gorgeous! i love how modern renaissance can go from neutral to cool to warm! my only problem is that i find that purple shade to be difficult to show on my brown skin. idk, maybe i am doing something wrong with my application, but i am for sure going to try this look, and thanx for the tip about lightening the colour. i wonder if they did that on purpose, knowing that some of these colours would be too intense for some!!
I might be the only person on this planet who actually really likes the naked smokey. I do feel you about the lack of shimmers in MR, I use a lot of my metallic/glittery Colourpop SSS with it and it helps a lot.
I love the naked smoky! I think it is one of the best naked palettes and it is the perfect smokey palette. I just don't wear smokey eyes often so I am keen to try it for a month straight, but also a little apprehensive haha
Venetian red is my favorite shade in the MR palette, it’s stunning 😍😍 I find it really different to red ochre and love letter- it’s more of a cranberry, which is so beautiful imo
I'm excited to hear what you say about the lorac pro! It's a very pretty palette and that blue is gorrrrrrrrrrgeous! I would put that bad boy all over my eye!
Lorac pro 2is such an amazing palette. I used it all of last week and fell in love with it hard. Very pigmented and blendable with no fallout at all. I'm sure you'll enjoy using it for this month.
I agree, Realgar is so brown when applied compared to in the pan. I found a trick: If you have the Lorac Pro 2 palette if you apply the shade Nectar as a base and it will make Realgar oranger. I was surprised to find this out because I had other more orange bases that did not work this way. EDIT: Oh you do have the Lorac, Yay!!!!
I’ve been waiting for this review! I’m also revisiting my MR palette and finding I’m attracted to different shades now. It was never my favorite but feel it’s important to understand what it can do. Thank you for sharing your experience and giving me insight.
Yay I love this series so much! Always inspires me to get more use out of the palettes I have. I'm so happy the Lorac Pro 2 won. That is my favorite palette and am looking forward to hearing your thoughts plus I think that palette is a bit warmer than people realize. I don't own the modern renaissance but I am panning a palette and feel your struggle on those satin shades that aren't quite shimmery enough for my taste.
I had this palette the year it came out, but I dropped it and broke it! I've been wondering ever since if I should replace it. I loved the blendability and looks it could make. I don't have a lot of makeup in my collection, so it was my only larger palette, but I do have singles. I keep thinking something better would come out, but the sequel palette obviously was a fail. But it didn't really last on my lids. Even with a primer, it disappeared. (Which is not that uncommon for me, but for the price!) Oh, and I love this series! Such a great idea.
jesskathan Perhaps you could try the new Soft Glam palette. The formula is like the Modern Renaissance but much more neutral but also very versatile. I have and love both but reach for Soft Glam every day. I have the Subculture palette too which I enjoy but it’s nowhere near as easy to work with due to not only formula but colour selection xx
I only have the soft glam but tempera is a shade that i figured is there as a neutral lid shade rather than a standard matte browbone highlight. I guess there is wnw/h&m for cheap matte crean shades 😂
It was likely for a shimmery brow highlight/all over the lid shade, but I hate doing both of those and love matte creams for setting my base/highlighting my brow bone. So each to their own, but it was a missed opportunity in my eyes.
Thank you for this! Some very helpful tips for those shades that don't generally pull me. Looking forward to the Pro 2 vid! I bought it a little while back for its beautiful cool tones but find I do the same 2 looks over and over. Subscribing so I don't miss seeing it!
So excited for this video. Also, you are one of the few people I've heard pronounce Tempera correctly (almost all Americans mis-read this word as Tempura -- as in the deep fried veggies!
It's a type of paint... It's actually the kind of paint we used in kindergarten! I love the names in the palette. I loved this video and look forward to the next!!!
I don't have the Modern Renaissance, but I do have Love Letter & I love it. I got it in the single because I had dupes for every other shade in the Modern Renaissance but wanted that pink shade.
Wow! You’re really talented at applying makeup like that, and very luck to have such beautiful features! What lipstick are you wearing it’s so gorgeous?? And have you got any tutorials on applying a winged liner? I struggle lots.
My best friend got this pallet as her first high end pallet and used it every day for a year and hit major pan on most shades but she still has ways to go before the pallet is completely used up
I never once was interested in the MR palette but this video actually makes me want to try it. I think I'll get the wet n wild dupe and try it out! Also, if you could get ahold of the bundle that duped the tarte icy bitch April fool's palette, i think that could be a great cool toned option for a future month! 💋💋💋
Really like this series! :) Excited for the Lorac palette next month, I've always wanted it but never bought it so it will be interesting to see if I still want it after your video!
I’m curious to see if your video makes me want the Pro 2 as I finally just bought the Pro 1 and the Mega Pro 2 and 4 (I found them in my Kohl’s just to let the USA viewers know)
I wish I could do more cooler tone looks, but every time I try something it always looks the same lol i at least wanna try to combine warms and cool tones as well.
The Lorac Pro 2 pallet please. Yeah I have that one and don’t really know how to use some of those colors. Can’t wait for May. What was that purple brush you were using at the end, thank you.
Yes! I'm so happy The Lorac Pro 2 won! It's the only 'big' palette I own, and lately when I look at it, I feel so uninspired. Now my interest tends to shift towards Marc Jacobs or Mac, but I hope to steal some looks from you after May :D
i'd like to see a z palette/single shadows in this type of video, if you own like a custom palette with single shadows bc singles don't usually get that much love 🤔
Yay I was hoping you'd do the lorac! I've been interested in that palette. Also, what's the purpose of setting eyeshadow primer? I've seen some people set it, and others not. I'm kinda new to makeup haha
It can help to blend eyeshadow better, because some pigments in shadows like to stick down to your primer and then refuse to blend out. I usually fluff some skin tone color in the crease because that's where I want perfect blending, but I don't set my eyelid because I like my shadows to stick there and stay all day. Too much setting and your shadows will go dusty and not be longwearing
It helps blend eyeshadows. If you don't set it, eyeshadow can cling to the sticky base and look patchy :) Like Marieke Vee said, I often just set the crease when I am using shimmers that I want to stick to the eye and look intense, but I often set the whole eye when working just with mattes
I was talking to my husband about a conversation I had with one of my students about how in America everything is a swear word. My student is from Australia and had some issues adjusting to the language differences and what is acceptable in everyday conversation here. I was joking that I’d get on great in Australia because I have a filthy mouth and shorten many words the same way you do. My husband said oh yeah well you watch Kat and Hailey all the time I bet that helps with slang and stuff. I watch both of your channels and BN so often that my husband knows you both. He also loves your tattoos. Sorry for the long story but I had no idea that my husband paid that much attention to what I watch 😂
Amazing! It's a shame to hear that those bright reds and pinks you were drawn to originally don't catch your eye as much anymore - but there is a time and place for those shades 😌😌 can't wait for next month!
It's finally getting spring where i live! 🌼🌼🌼 just sounds stange if you say it is getting winter here😄 i guess australian winter would still be a nice summer holiday for me🤣🤣🤣
I feel like kat complains about every palette lol. The JH morphe, this one, UD electric etc. she seems to just dislike all of her palettes. Kind of odd
Pink eyeshadow that make you look like you have eye infection will get recognized as such once the time comes. Not unlike the ridiculous hair and makeup trends of 80s. Funny.
love how you experimented and layered the different shades, such a different perspective on such a popular and overused palette! definitely gave me a few new ideas on how should experiment more with it.
This is a great series. I like how you’re consistently using older palettes that have been somewhat forgotten about.
Yessss
Pumpkin!
It's currently 3:30 in the morning here in my part of the US. So happy to have this to watch.
I use red ochre as a brow powder, it matches my hair color perfectly
Omg!!! I adore that you go through each color and how to mix them. Neutralising and punching up etc. I watch w watercolor videos and always wish I could watch palette videos that go into the color schemes as deeply. Best video ever.
This series is the best thing on youtube right now. So detailed, so many looks. Oh, I was waiting for this one!
Time to bring Modern Renaissance out of the cabinet and back into the rotation!
Omg you hit all the points that i have noticed about this palette
This is such an epic series. Everyone should do it.
I just love your look in this video- the eyeshadow, the liner, the lippie, and the side braid! Gorgeous
Golden Ochre is one of my favourite shades too! Loved this video, loved all the idea to make the palette work for you when you aren't into warm tones at the moment so you can wear it all year round!!
Oh I am glad there is another Golden Ochre fan out there :)
Kat, this is one of my favorite series! Most thorough kind of review!
Love that you use things you have!!
Yes!!!! More older palettes!!!!
Hi Kat, I'd love to see the Naked Smoky in one of your videos because I know it would help me use it more often. Love you 😊😘❤️
Yay!!! I am so excited to see the looks you create with Lorac Pro 2!
finished beauty news episode and now i get a video from you, great afternoon for me 😁
I've just decided to make modern renaissance my first project pan so glad I found this video for inspiration 😍
This is so helpful! I would have never thought to layer some of these shades to get neutral!
Now I want to get my modern renaissance out to play with! I've been doing a one week one palette and haven't played used it in a long time!
Love this series! I played around with Red Ochre and Vermeer and oh wow it’s stunning mixed! Thanks for the inspiration!!
I'm so glad you tried that combo! xox
Wow, this totally got me excited to do something different with my modern renaissance. Especially the Venetian red with the shimmer!
That’s a look I’m definitely recreating very soon.
Your videos are so unique and enjoyable! This series is so interesting and inspiring!
I like that the next one is still available to buy. That way if I love the looks can still buy it.
this look is just gorgeous! i love how modern renaissance can go from neutral to cool to warm! my only problem is that i find that purple shade to be difficult to show on my brown skin. idk, maybe i am doing something wrong with my application, but i am for sure going to try this look, and thanx for the tip about lightening the colour. i wonder if they did that on purpose, knowing that some of these colours would be too intense for some!!
I absolutely love these monthly videos❤️
I might be the only person on this planet who actually really likes the naked smokey. I do feel you about the lack of shimmers in MR, I use a lot of my metallic/glittery Colourpop SSS with it and it helps a lot.

Your liner looks so good in this video!
I'm excited to hear what you say about the lorac pro! It's a very pretty palette and that blue is gorrrrrrrrrrgeous! I would put that bad boy all over my eye!

You inspire me to do one month one pallet myself . Totally cool experiment, totally cool chick!
Good morning Kat looking good. I don’t have that palette, I’ve wanted it but haven’t taken the plunge to buy it.
I’ve been waiting for this review!
I’m also revisiting my MR palette and finding I’m attracted to different shades now. It was never my favorite but feel it’s important to understand what it can do.
Thank you for sharing your experience and giving me insight.
So exicited that Lorac 2 is your next month palette
Definitely definitely do Lorac pro 2 please!
I love that you give a thorough review after using it for a month. I’m going to attack this palette with all your advice!
Yay I love this series so much! Always inspires me to get more use out of the palettes I have. I'm so happy the Lorac Pro 2 won. Love this series, made me subscribe! ❤️❤️❤️
If u have time could you weigh the palette before and After? I'm curious to see how much product you use in one month.
Love the videos thank you
Sorry, it is not something I am planning on including in this series, but feel free to test it yourself and let me know your findings :)

So excited for this video. Also, you are one of the few people I've heard pronounce Tempera correctly (almost all Americans mis-read this word as Tempura -- as in the deep fried veggies!
HAHA. I guess it is the colour or tempura
It's a type of paint... It's actually the kind of paint we used in kindergarten! I love the names in the palette. I loved this video and look forward to the next!!!
In California I've always heard it and said it as Tem-pra. But it is the color of tempura batter, lol. I think ABH is trying to be cheeky 😄
All the shade names have to do with Renaissance painters and paint colors and tempera paint was used back then.
I used my Modern Renaissance every time I did my makeup for an entire summer and never hit pan thank goodness
You need soooo veryyyy little I find.
I don't have the Modern Renaissance, but I do have Love Letter & I love it. I got it in the single because I had dupes for every other shade in the Modern Renaissance but wanted that pink shade.
I still love this palette....
Great idea, great video!
Nice video, appreciate the effort... I would die out of boredom if I were to use the MR for a month 😜😜😜
Haha I can add in other shades to spice it up so it wasn't too bad :P
Wow! You’re really talented at applying makeup like that, and very luck to have such beautiful features! What lipstick are you wearing it’s so gorgeous?? And have you got any tutorials on applying a winged liner? I struggle lots.

Hiii. Do you own the Lorac Mega Pro 3? A lot of shades I know but I'd love to see a video like this on that palette 😙
Yasss I have been hanging out for this
My favourite series on RUclips 😍
I was wondering what to do with my Friday night .. first up .. watch the gawg :) xx love youse x
Haha get something better to do on your Friday night my love! Love ya face x
It’s odd to me that you do more cool tones in the winter. I tend to do more warm in the winter and mix in the summer
💜💜💜TFS💜💜💜 loving this series
The Lorac Pro 2 pallet please. Yeah I have that one and don’t really know how to use some of those colors. Can’t wait for May. What was that purple brush you were using at the end, thank you.
The Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush x
KitschSnitch Thank you, Kat
Kat, when you post the pics of the looks you created would it be possible to post the lipstick shade?
Probably not sorry, half the time I forget to take photos of the looks as it is haha 😝
+KitschSnitch no worries. I was just adoring the reds.
Yes! I'm so happy The Lorac Pro 2 won! It's the only 'big' palette I own, and lately when I look at it, I feel so uninspired. Now my interest tends to shift towards Marc Jacobs or Mac, but I hope to steal some looks from you after May :D

Lip colour please???? It's gorgeous. Xo
Colourpop Lippie Stix in Brink :)
Happy Bday! Ps your palette looks brand new next to mine 😂
Thank you honey x
Yes I’m finally on when you post! Hiii!!!👋🏻😍
Haha hello! I usually post quite early in the morning, but I just finished editing this one today ☺
Ok at 10:24 - take my money! 🤗
Do you recommend this pallet for beginners?
If you like the colours then definitely :)
So excited Lorac won!!
Nice video

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAT! ☺️
Ps. Not a crazy stalker! You share today with my dad!!
Thank you so much Sarah! Say happy birthday to your dad for me xo 😝😘

I live in Melbourne... we have pretty cold dreary winters.
In comparison to the rest of Australia, maybe, but I've done Melbourne in winter and it was pretty close to a British summer!
Do Naked next month please :)
And desert dusk palette :)
Lorac 2 would be better for autumn 🍂
I don't mind when a palette has two similar transitions, I feel like I go through those the fastest anyway
I am not saying take out a transition shade, just replace the similar one with a different shade of transition colour
I feel like kat complains about every palette lol. The JH morphe, this one, UD electric etc. she seems to just dislike all of her palettes. Kind of odd
I think you mistake me giving pros and cons about products (which all products have) as me complaining or not liking my palettes.

I personally think pink eyeshadows can be very flattering in many situations :)
