Steve Stevens has got to be on the most underrated and unappreciated pro guitarists around. His ability to weave jazz into his work with Idol has always endeared him to me. The fact that he's a hell of shredder doesn't hurt either. They always say you may not want to meet your idols...Not so with Steve, I'll bet.
Such a humble, down-to-Earth guy and phenomenal guitarist. Never plays a note more than necessary, while still displaying his amazing skills and talent. What he did on Vince Neil's fist solo album (Exposed) is absolutely brilliant from start to finish! The most underrated genius, and looks a thousand times more rock n roll than most others. Not just image-wise but his stage presence as well!
Real Talent. A true lifelong musician. He can not only play the instrument flawlessly but he has a real talent at making demo videos that are easy to understand and fun to watch. He is a true master of his craft.
Steve Stephens is a completely underrated guitar player.!!! His chops are tasty & he's so much more then the Billy idol years. His versatility belies is image..🤔
Damn!!!! Incredible. I've read several of the comments here...with several people talking about the versatility of Steve Stevens!! I really don't think there's a style he can't play!! In this video...he played the majority of music out there! What an incredible talent he is!! Wow!!!
Forget the guitar and listen to him play. It's just so diverse and always very melodic. And he makes it look at sound so effortless. I have seen this demo over and over again just to hear him play.
Steve is so wonderfully versatile, so stylistically diverse. Situation Dangerous (Bozzio Levin and Stephens) has some amazing performances on guitar, with many moods and styles. He should always be mentioned when the subject of great guitarists comes up.
Steve Stevens Atomic Playboys is a highly underappreciated album. One of the best albums of its time. I bought it on cassette and wore it out. So, I bought it on CD. It's also on Spotify.
Yup... the average guy on the street has no idea who he is, but he's so good at so much and he knows the theory to tell you exactly why what he plays works. Steve's one of my all time favorities.
Freaking BRILLIANT player!!!! Can play anything, anytime and crush it! My 2nd, by a very close margin, Favorite guitarist. PLUS; he seems to be a very down to earth, very approachable guy. ROCK ON, Steve!!!
the emotion passion and the ability to create such sonic soundscapes sets this guy apart . I concur I could sit and watch and listen to him all day and night
This video was the reason I bought this guitar 4 years ago when I stumbled on a used example for sale in my local market. I saw the classified ad and had to search RUclips for info on this strange beast of a Strat that I had never heard of. : ) SS provided a perfect overview of all the capabilities this guitar had to offer. I still watch this video regularly just to remind myself of some of the sounds it is capable of when in the hands of someone with such technical mastery and god-like talent. So impressive! Owning this axe has vastly improved my playing simply because of the different styles I have found myself pursuing due to its versatility. I absolutely love this guitar, and it will probably remain my #1 for years to come. It provides hours of enjoyment in every session, and regardless of your mood (or your set-list), you have such a wide range of virtual instrument choices, tunings, and pickup combinations available at your disposal. Thank you Steve for your simple, chill, and informative overview of this fantastic guitar! Your technical mastery is surpassed only by your humble and straight forward approach to the demo. I was instantly sold, and drove 2.5 hours to drop $1k on a fine used example - and I have never once regretted my purchase.... or the effort it took to retrieve it. In fact, I thank my lucky stars that I accidentally “discovered” this guitar every time I pick it up to play! I would do it all over again in a heartbeat!
I hope they paid him good. If I were Roland, I couldn't think of a more compelling demo of the product. The perfect 9 minutes of showing off this instrument! You couldn't find a better guy to represent this axe; betting they sold a few units just from this amazing demo.
As good as it sounds remember its not gonna sound nothing like that when U try it @ home a big thanks 2 Mr.Stevens 4 such an awesome demo of this product
If you recall Billy Idol's 1984 hit "Eyes Without A Face," that's Steve Stevens on guitar. Real deal guitarist/musician. He got his recognition and fame in Billy Idol's band back in the '80s.
There are so many 80's rock guitarist that are underrated I could make a long list Vito Bratta ,Tom Keifer , Warren Martini . Bunch of talent that never got full recognition
What makes Steve so enjoyable to watch and to listen to? He puts his heart, soul and balls into everything he plays -- even if it's just demonstrating a product!! Love you, man :-D

Fender's version of this was called the STRAT VG in 2006 and 2007. I own one. It's a US made Strat where the Roland G-5 uses a Mexican Strat. Roland continued with the project and added newer sounds that my Fender does not have. I asked Roland if there was a firmware upgrade and got NO COMMENT. They later came out with a G-5A which used a USA made Strat but only came in red color (WHY THAT ROLAND????). ANd then they ended this project altogether in favor of a newer products like the VG-55, VG-99 (discontinued) and a new one supposedly coming. Sheesh! The beauty of the VG/G-5/G-5A was that you just plugged in.... no pedalboard or big buss connectors or hassle.... THEY SHOULD STILL MAKE THIS GUITAR!!! IT'S AWESOME. I'll never get rid of mine until the day I die. I wish I could upgrade my VG to the G-5A specs, but.... *sigh* BTW, Fender made a great little modeling amp that I have.... a GDEC 30 which was abandoned in lieu of their Mustang series. Damn! I grew up in 60's,70's with amazing rock music, Paige, Hendricks, but Steve is right up there, him starting young and with acoustic for many years at first, I think that delay before electric made him able to really get a great sound and transfer that to electric, he's got great ear and inventiveness of sounds that fit rock beautifully.
Sounds really good Steve, you are a very great picker and always were tops in my book and i could listen to you play all night long..........love the virtual strat, you make it sing my friend...
Always loved the guitar in Billy Idol songs, but I began to seriously pay attention to Steve after a detailed listening to the solo of "Man for All Seasons". It was a before and after for me.
I just bought the same amp and I love it, you won't believe it but my PRS Standard works the exact same way your strat does, it will even work with the tuner, but my Breedlove acoustic electric won't work with it except for just the regular sounds on the amp. I wish that I could play like Steve Stevens, they sure did chose the right guy for this demo for sure! way to go, man!
