Ryan Johnson Seriously unbelievable that such a minor change could cause such a dramatic effect. The pause and the way she holds on to “mine” until after the orchestra finishes the phrase is incredibly impactful. The colour in her voice truly illustrates such a clear image. Blown away.
I love how every Jenna has added their own to this song. While it’s a technically difficult song, it’s mostly emotionally driven. I feel different emotions hearing different people singing this song. It’s part of what makes it so beautiful
I had heard some skepticism and negativity when it was announced she would be in the role. But holy shit did she prove the haters wrong. This is amazing. Brava!
My parents saw her in the show a couple of weeks ago while in NYC. They said she was FANTASTIC. Listening to this proves them right. I’m so sad this show is closing. It’s just great.
This is a slam dunk. I haven’t heard anyone besides Jessie give that kind of emotion with this song and Jordin nailed it! That climatic “mine” was pure gold.
she brings so much to this role, and it shows in this. this is the most emotion I’ve heard in a SUTBM, and this is just an audio. can’t image how heart breaking it is to see live. ahhh I’d die, Jordin is so freaking talented.😭
I CAN'T EVEN! So many singers voices change as they get older, and not for the better! This is literally even better than idol! I don't know if folks who don't sing can understand how amazing this is!
jayjay 154 again, nah, not like this... Jordin captivates Jenna’s youthful emotional wreck of a story. Shoshana made good vocal choices that sounded very great. But for the stakes, this takes the Gold.
Wow. Just wow! I knew Jordin was going to be amazing as Jenna, but this truly might be the most impressive and beautiful version of She Used to Be Mine that I’ve ever heard. This song is SO nuanced and there are so many places where singers have to choose what emotions they’re trying to convey with each word and how to sing accordingly while at the same time figuring out how and where to build the song into the climax. It’s incredibly difficult and yet Jordin Sparks just did it almost effortlessly - the build was spot-on and heart-shattering and every note had intention and thought behind it! Ugh, I can’t praise this enough!
definitely the best version of this song imo, performance made me tear up due to the emotion and pain in her voice. i wish i could get a studio version of hers.
Bonnie McGhee woc stands for “woman of color”. In other words, a non white woman. It’s a term used in diversity and representation movements, particularly regarding intersectional representation.
Beautiful! I have heard all the versions on youtube (and one live) and the song still makes tear up and she is amazing! I trully didn't know that she was so good
Saw Jordin in Waitress and thought she was a refreshing voice and brought a fresh take on Jenna. She was in perfect voice and I was impressed throughout...SUTBM was impeccable
I saw her two weeks ago when I was in NYC and let me just tell you, she was AMAZING in every single way! Her vocals are great but her emotion is even better. It’s like she was actually living the life of Jenna. It brought me to tears
Wowie! Just hearing this and not even seeing her perform and it already sounds amazing! I always knew she was special! What a talent! Beautiful inside and out too! 🙋🏽👏🏽👏🏽💖✨
i saw jordin in september and oh my god, she was such an amazing jenna. her she used to be mine had me sobbing uncontrollably. she’s also so incredibly sweet! i met her at stage door and sang she used to be mine for her. she gave me a hug and words of encouragement that always make me smile to this day.
Gosh this is so beautiful I love this song and every singer sings it perfectly but in a totally different way 🙈😭but she is my favorite !! I wish I could listen to her version on a digital track with better quality... It is so sad that for now we don’t have any performance of the waitress in Germany 😭
I saw her last week... my goodness. She brought to this role exactly what Fantasia brought to Celie in the original Broadway version of Color Purple. So much purity and authenticity. Jordan was absolutely breathtaking... couldn’t take my eyes off her. And her SUTBM seemed so effortless for her. The clarity and breath control and emotion are out of this world! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I was impressed by this, but then I put my earbuds in to hear it better. My heart. If you're listening to this on your phone, or not very loud, do yourself a favor and plug in. Incredible. I keep going back to hear that one part. That rasp, and that gasp from the audience.
I love how EVERY single Jenna is just so perfect for the role
The extended silence after that “mine” was greater than anything else from this performance. Absolute perfection.
Ryan Johnson Seriously unbelievable that such a minor change could cause such a dramatic effect. The pause and the way she holds on to “mine” until after the orchestra finishes the phrase is incredibly impactful. The colour in her voice truly illustrates such a clear image. Blown away.
The "Oh my God, bro" really makes it for me
that audible gasp from the audience when she sings that note at the end omg
Jamie Mangan, exactly my thought as well!
Literally happened to me when I saw the show
A perfect demonstration of the way this song should be performed. The emotion in her voice is absolutely heart shattering.
I love how every Jenna has added their own to this song. While it’s a technically difficult song, it’s mostly emotionally driven. I feel different emotions hearing different people singing this song. It’s part of what makes it so beautiful
This is a perfect way of putting this! Every single person I have heard singing this song, has added their own touch. And it's always beautiful.
when they all gasped in unison at 3:40 i felt that
I had heard some skepticism and negativity when it was announced she would be in the role. But holy shit did she prove the haters wrong. This is amazing. Brava!
She was incredible. She was so powerful and emotional. I loved her as Jenna
Her Nina in In The Heights wasn’t the best. I’m happy she had a second chance at Broadway, because goddamn.
My parents saw her in the show a couple of weeks ago while in NYC. They said she was FANTASTIC. Listening to this proves them right. I’m so sad this show is closing. It’s just great.
She absolutely exceeded my expectations I can’t even
Also the collective gasp is such a mood
This is a slam dunk. I haven’t heard anyone besides Jessie give that kind of emotion with this song and Jordin nailed it! That climatic “mine” was pure gold.
Omg she is the most emotional I’ve heard, she sounds like she’s actually crying/living the role
LAUREN she had genuine tears during a few songs on stage. It was a remarkable performance
It was so impressive. Tony worthy!
she brings so much to this role, and it shows in this. this is the most emotion I’ve heard in a SUTBM, and this is just an audio. can’t image how heart breaking it is to see live. ahhh I’d die, Jordin is so freaking talented.😭

I haven’t heard the emotion conveyed so well in this song by anyone else. Holy cow. I’m captivated.
Shoshana
JAY’s Adventures nah not like this
Jordan Arrasmith she’s a queen! I knew she was gonna kill it!
yeah Shoshana ....
jayjay 154 again, nah, not like this... Jordin captivates Jenna’s youthful emotional wreck of a story. Shoshana made good vocal choices that sounded very great. But for the stakes, this takes the Gold.
the guy in the back left of the picture is me the whole time she’s singing
Dr pomatter he’s great!
i love mark evans! his last show was sunday:(

Ashton Brown THE BUILD... ugh 🤯😭
definitely the best version of this song imo, performance made me tear up due to the emotion and pain in her voice. i wish i could get a studio version of hers.
So glad we got another WOC as Jenna before it closes, plus she’s incredible
did you see the post on their insta about Jenna, Dawn, & Becky all being WOC on a certain night a few weeks ago?! Really heartwarming
Wheatos oh hell yeah
What is a woc?

Elsjepelsje YES!! Omg exactly what I was thinking. CHILLS 💯
Elsjepelsje about sums it up
Would love to here Anne Hathaway sing this. That would be amazing.
i’m crying holy crap you can like hear the pain in every word
The absolute stunned silence at 3:42. That's how you know it was perfect.
You can literally hear someone nearby gasp and at the end it’s almost cut off but someone definitely said oh my god :) I MUST SEE HER
I gasped at the same time as them!
Litteral Perfection
Saw her tonight and she was amazing!!! I mean, the whole show was incredible, but Jordin specifically was really great
Amanda Deery she’s unreal. I can’t stop thinking about her performance
I just saw her yesterday and she is absolutely incredible. This audio doesn’t do her justice 😩❤️
Exactly!!! 😩 I was in complete awe. Her acting was spot on as well
SO GOOD
3:19 -- 3:41 never felt this before
That desperation in “ to fight just a little” was perfection!!!
I saw her in November and by far it was one of the best performances I have seen!!💗
i’ve seen her twice and shes the best the best jenna i’ve heard. perfect for the role and broadway.
I keep coming back here. I cry everytime. Jordin... JUST DAMN!...and the gasps...kill me everytime
Saw her as Jenna the day after my birthday and it was the best present ever! She is so great in this show and is even better live!! ❤️
This is the first time this song has ever made me cry.
Beautiful! I have heard all the versions on youtube (and one live) and the song still makes tear up and she is amazing! I trully didn't know that she was so good
the amount emotion she put into it, just wow. i've never heard another jenna make it feel like that

I think this might be one of the best versions of this song.
“Oh my god bro 😭” SAME
Her tone is so beautiful
Wowie! Just hearing this and not even seeing her perform and it already sounds amazing! I always knew she was special! What a talent! Beautiful inside and out too! 🙋🏽👏🏽👏🏽💖✨
So simple and heartfelt! The little riffs she puts in are so brilliantly executed too! ❤️
I genuinely think this is the best version out there
I’ve watched this video 80,000 times, and the gasp 😦 at the end gets me EVERY TIME...I’m just like, “same!”
That short gasp in 3:41 though..
Funny enough, I gasped as the same time they did. I was SHOOKT to the bones.
Sis held that note for 11 seconds um I-
Just the voice and im in tears. If ever i see the performance id lose my conciousness.
Lmao their reactions after her run towards the end is ALL OF US

Oh my god no joke this video is the reason I’m broke from just spending money on a train tickets and a ticket to see this show in November🤩🤩🤩😍😍😍😍
Evan Vandyk worth it if you’re seeing Jordin in this role
This might be the best Jenna I’ve heard. The most emotional. I love it.
Thad Nelson idk Jessica Mueller is a beast
Allison had the most emotion by far
Jeremy Jordan!!!
I saw Jordan on 10/5. The only other Jenna I had seen was Jessie and I was shocked that I loved Jordan even more. She did phenomenal.
elovejoy925 How did Jordin do with a southern accent? Was she able to pull it off?
EvenStevenSays yes!!! Her acting was a shock and so compelling
Julia Rampersad her acting was jaw dropping
I saw her live and so happy there’s this so I can relive this stunning moment.
Her acting was sooo good in this scene
Jordin was amazing. Our of the American Idol crew I’d love see Diana DeGarmo in this role. She has matured so much and would slay it.
I was lucky enough to see her live, thank you for this video!!!!!!!! I needed to relive this moment
im cryingggg the emotion is perfect
Thank you for this! I was so excited to go and see her but instead it was her understudy. This is beautiful.
I saw her last week... my goodness. She brought to this role exactly what Fantasia brought to Celie in the original Broadway version of Color Purple. So much purity and authenticity. Jordan was absolutely breathtaking... couldn’t take my eyes off her.

A bit crack voice at the word "mine" at 3:30 and the last one make this so emotional...
I was waiting for the right Jenna to execute the proper key change at the “mine” high note... and man, Jordin was glorious to do so 🥺
My fave is Shoshone bean but Jordan is honestly close to of not tied with her after I’ve listened to her renditions it’s PHENOMENAL
the gasp, i felt that.

Saw her live on Broadway last week and boy did she make a lot of people cry that night with this performance (myself included)!!!
Omg! The gasp! So good!!
Forever a Jordin Sparks fan. Absolutely stunning.
She held that last mine for like 12 seconds. BEAST.
_I cried just now. And when I cry to someone singing this...it means THEY DID A DAMN GOOD JOB_ 👏🏼
I was totally NOT prepared for this. Do you happen to have What Baking Can Do as well?
Le Van no lol I risked it all for this one
She really tore out a part of herself to be that amazing!!!
that was so good omg i’m in TEARS
Saw this yesterday and she was absolutely breathtaking, had me bawling the entire time
the gasp you made lmao. her power is just
I just want to say thank you to this audience for letting that climactic note echo and wait until the end to applaud
I was teary eyed this whole song but i just started balling after 3:40 😭 so much emotion it’s insane

Jordin was amazing. She blew me away
I’m crying my eyes and heart out, man
The dropped the key a bit for her and I think her rendition really benefits from it. So happy for her.
Yep she's singing it in Sara's key
Her voice is so much better now than when she won Idol and it was really good then. Wow
That was a JOURNEY.
