i had repaired my AG 7001i since 2009 and never get the spring rite. thank you for this amazing video that help me to fix my AG 7001i again back to normal.
Hi Dennis, I'm Dean from UK.. I have the abu 7500i and is inside identical to the 7001i , I was having trouble relocating free spool lever spring trying with lever still attached, this video really helped and now I know the lever comes off and spring set before hand. Thanks for these great video's I watch many. Just also serviced 2 old Mitchell 600 reels your video's are very good and helpful, it's so nice you take time to explain and show how things are done. Many thanks, keep up great work and stay safe 👍
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. I went to far on servicing my 7000. I had springs and metal clips in a bowl and forgot where they went. This saved me from taking it to someone to put it back together. Thanks again!
and another video to continue learning, your video channel is Magnificent, every day you learn something new, I will always be grateful for everything I learn, I send you a big hug.
I'm glad that I came across this video. The schematic for a Ambassadeur 4600c that I purchased for 10. When I broke it down the anti reverse dog was just flopping around. Schematic was a lousy copy. Luckily saw how you installed it so I was able to reinstall it. Reel is now serviced and working like a champ. First attempt to try and service a baitcaster.
AA++ great video Dennis ! I have the older red 7000 from the 1970's - and it stills runs perfectly ….thanks to periods of good cleaning, lube and repair....still learn a lot about this reel from your video... always watching....keep them 'a coming....
When you order parts, do you order extra to have on hand, because that looks like it could get out of hand. Thanks enjoy watching your videos.just started collecting old reels hopefully it won’t get out of hand
I order the disposable parts like drag washers in quantity. I do not keep an inventory of parts that rarely break, like gears, side cases, etc, I explain to my customers that there will be a delay if an unusual piece breaks. You are correct, the alternative could be expensive and you can wind up with a bunch of parts that you never need - Thanks for asking - Dennis
Got a question for ya. Will a handle from a abu garcia ambassaduer 7000i fit a standard 6000 ambassaduer or a 6600 cl rocket.. i was told all abu abassaduers handles are interchangable no matter the size or makes
Lefty reels make things that are second nature into confusing! I rarely but sometimes am asked to service lefty conventional reels and it's incredible how many times I will put something in backwards or try to tighten the wrong way on reels I could put back together in my sleep.
@@2ndChanceTacklethanks for the web! after a month finally I’m able to get my hands on the parts needed. Unfortunately after rebuilding, the spool does not “freely” spin as before. Noticeable resistance can be felt even though the tension knobs are unscrewed. Where do you think is the issue? Btw your video helped me lots, this is the only disassembly video in the whole of RUclips for this model!
Check to ankle sure that the spool brakes are not trapped in the spool ring. Pull the brakes in on the rods before putting the side plate on. That would be my first guess as to why the issue is occurring in your reel - Dennis
I thought for sure one of those centrifugal bake pads was going to fall off when you lifted out the spool and held it high in the air for a sec. That happens to me all the time, I go to reassemble and then see one is missing and have to check the rug for an hour looking for it..lol, not fun.
I'd be lying if I said that never happened to me! I can recall losing 4 at once on a reel because I wasn't paying attention and just trying to do a "quick" fix. Thanks for watching - Dennis

There has certainly been more than a few occasions where I've been turned around by the lefty reels! Thanks for watching - Dennis
I would like to have him for my teacher.
Thanks! Dennis
Do you know if the worm gear is the same with which other reel? I can’t get parts for it anymore
I am not sure. Have you tried ereplacementparts.com or southwestern parts.com? They carry the Abu parts

What does the i stand for?
I can only give you an educated guess and would suggest that it stands for inshore. FYI -your reel was manufactured in 2003.
