I work doing e-commerce and product photography and approximately half of the tips are kinda...untrue. In example, why would I make fake playdoh waffles if I have actual waffles? Then I would put varnish or whatever on them. Why would I use fake bread if I have actual bread? Or slime for a drink? When you work in photography you have to be extremely careful with stuff looking real bc image can go massive and a flaw on an advertisement in a building can cost you your whole career. With beer and sodas we just stack images. In example, with beer, we poor the beer with almost no foam or no foam at all then we take a picture, then drop on it any effervescent med and take another picture. Then we edit both into the same picture. So it's not just camera tricks, but dozens of hours of editing. Mainly the late tbh. The most accurate ones are the ice-cream related. Depending on the ice cream type we use mashed potatoes with food coloring or shaving foam.
Tbh if I work in food ads I probably won't be able to have appetite ever again. Cos I will feel nauseous when I see these fake foods while working (like watching them act like they are the most appetizing shit in the world, for example that cheese dip made out of wax. 🤮🤮🤮)
There was a Japanese documentary years ago about fake food that's used as display in stores and restaurants that I sometimes catch while channel surfing and ending up in the foreign ones. I've always loved the fake food.
They do it just for "Advertising" they do not feed u the same burger with shoe polish/ cheese dip out of wax Those are just like yt Thumbnails especially This channel's
So I understand some of this... Like ice cream. Ice cream can look like ice cream as soon as you take it out of the freezer but photographing involves lots of lighting and time and it's just gonna melt into liquid. But a lot of these others... We've just been seeing unrealistic expectations about what food should look like which is such an odd thing

That's why chefs never eat the same food they have cooked
A sick doctor never treats himself he also has another doctor to consult
As long as I don't eat the model food, I don't really care.
Believe nothing, question everything.

McDonalds does that a lot, manipulating people. That kind of advertisement is luckily forbidden in Germany

Ironically the real deal looks better than the comercial one.
Not everything looks beautiful in this tips. Many times real food looked way better 😂
Some tips looks trashy
That’s why advertisements put a disclaimer saying “Images are for illustrative purposes only”
4:32 👍
I'm not so sure about the Play-Doh waffles... 👎
The real ones looked 100x better.
Well on the example with the Belgian waffle the real one looked better, so why even bother with the playdoh one?
Amazing nevertheless 😅😅😅
Oh no, you mean that commercials are just lies 😂😂😂😂
I feel like many of these here are made up because they don't look anything like the real deal.

EDIT: ayo so many russian comments also spanish comments tbh
Shaving foam will not hold up very long either...
Of all the videos I have seen, this was the most informative. 😂😂😂❤. Loved it.

After many years wondering why my BigMac doesn’t look the same way than ads.

Let’s do the great stuff in the real life
message to all food photographer: eat it or go to prison.
Why not just use whipped cream with gelatin? Keeps its shape for hours without melting.
Looks a bit exaggerated but correct
The real-life ramen looks more appetizing
♥
Why slime WHY
I cant even trust food no more 🤦🏻
Yeah no I work in the industry and this isn't quite accurate. Don't believe everything you watch.
One time i used soy souce instead of cafe for a photo😂
Why are they allowed to get away with that?
All these lies!!! What, you gonna tell me Santa didn't actually leave me all those presents last year either???
How are advertisers allowed to do those?
Stoneceit desBouvrah
Thats illegal in the usa but looks like something they do in china
I been eating the commercials not real life 😮💨
Trust nothing.
I want my money back
It's just not about food. Its about everything you see on social media .
