Just installed these on my 2009 Mazda6 with base radio. What a difference they make! The highs are higher and the bass is crisper. I disconnected the OEM tweeters that were on the door Windows. Beware though, the TS - G6844R speakers are discontinued and replaced with TS-G6845R. Do not buy the replacement model as it has worse specifications. You might still find some of the 6844R's on eBay.
Thanks for the video. I'm going to install a component system from crutchfield soon, I bought my m6 a year ago and everything's blown out. Very reassuring watching a good instructional before trying it.
Hi = ) So did you change the tweeter also? Do you know whats size it is? 1"? Is it just to remove the existing tweeter and put the new in there? Thanks! Mazda 6 2009 non bose
Hi just got this car and really want to replace the speakers as the bose ones really aren't doing it for me Can anyone recommend what speakers I should get. I've been told focal speakers are really good but there are a lot of options. Does anyone else hate the middle speakers on the dashboard. Is there a way to unplug these without losing parts of the audio that would be transmitted to them? I'd rather just have the audio come from the door speakers as it gives a better feeling of stereo left and right separation. A list of recommended speakers to purchase would be super helpful?!😄
Where did you get those handy Green "clip removers" (pry bar looking thing)? Also when checking the + and - for the radio signal with the radio on, how do you decipher what is Negative and what is Positve? What should my Multi-Meter be set to?
Steven Hoyer Canadian tire has the kit named "E2 Complete Car Stereo Tool Kit", also Walmart ! Set for Ohms ( speakers have 4-8 Ohms), my lowest reading was at 200 on the meter. On the video min.5:25 I have a negative reading, that means the + and - are the opposite way, then on 5:30 I confirm the right way: where the red from the meter goes is my + from the stereo.
Thanks for this video. I took my 2018 Mazda 6 GT to an auto body shop for minor bumper repair. Speakers on these cars are Bose. I noticed the Left and Right front panels were touched and put back incorrectly which has nothing to do with the repair of my front bumpers. I suspect that my Bose speakers were replaced by cheap speakers.
RC Should really consider adding a hidden camera when you leave your car to the shop. I was the only owner of the car but when I replaced my dead battery I find out that was not the original vehicle battery.
Do you require speaker wire adapter/harness for the aftermarket speakers or did you splice the wires? There doesn't appear to be an adapter to suit the Mazda 6 GH1/2.
Hey man I just got a Mazda 6 2010. I'm looking to replace the 6x8s in the front and back with Rockford 6x8s. Do I just mount them in the holes in the doors outright? I bought speaker wiring harness' that plugs into the stock adapter(the white thing you unplugged) for all 4 door speakers. How do I run the wire out from behind the speaker to plug it in? Just have it coming out of the rim of the speakers that are screwed down? Creating a little bit of a bridge from the bump of the wire. Also if you know, if I replace the tweeters with new ones(kicker or infinity) will they fit right in? How do I wire it in? I never saw the back of a tweeter before so I don't know how to plug it into the car. The tweeters i'm looking at already have bass blockers. Where is the bass blockers on the stock tweeter? Should i just cut the wires behind the stock tweeters and connect the new one to those wires? Sorry if it's a lot of questions but i'm having trouble finding information on this stuff. Thanks
Some speakers will have the magnets too big and might get hit by the window when open all the way down. That's the reason why the factory speakers have that outer ring, to create that space. If that's the case, then remove the original speakers form that casing and install the new ones right in that spacer. If your speakers won't hit the window, then you are fine.
The depth on the Rockford Fosgates I ordered are less than the Pioneers that say(custom fit for Ford/Mazda). In that case should I use the factory speaker mounts or will it be fine? Also I found 6x8 speaker depth extenders here on amazon that are stackable. 8 of them that are a 1/4 inch thick each. Half inch more clearance for each speaker. I think I will get those and cut little notches in them so the speaker wire harness' have a way out.
Try the speakers first! If they fit without interfering with the window, then you won't need the extenders. This is not the case, but these extenders or bigger speakers installed in the door panels can push the panel out creating a gap in the door seal and allowing for water to get into the car. As per your tweeters, I would just cut the wires and have the new ones connected. Tweeters have only 2 wires, nothing fancy, and can be added to any speakers.
I just want the extenders so they don't sit as deep and I'll have something to cut holes into to run the speaker wiring harness' out from behind the speaker. The speakers wont stick out further than the stock ones thats for sure. The stock mounts are like an inch plus?
waste of time doing it like this .Firstly When the speaker is removed .ADD some sound deadening panels to the inside of the door skin . about 3 x A4 ( paper size!) worth per door. Then ....why add a COAX speaker to a door that has a tweeter ????? you now have 2 x tweeters !! You should fit COMPONENT SPEAKERS . I
Stop by ! I could do it for you for 1/2 price! Same issue in my area, for a $50 part I got charged over $500 with labour and that's the reason I decided to help others. Emil Carlover - Instagram, Facebook.
It's so easy! I'm not mechanically inclined AT ALL but I always replaced my own speakers in all my cars. Sometimes it takes a while because there are stubborn clips that don't want to come out, but I've never managed to break anything. Just make sure you use the right tools (ie $5 panel removal tool instead of using a screwdriver so you don't damage the plastic or scratch the metal door) and buy wiring harnesses for your car so you don't have to cut and solder/splice the wires (you might want to replace the speakers again in the future). Replacing the factory stereo is a little harder, depending on the vehicle, because you might have to remove the dash and make sure you have a bracket that fits, but I've also done that with little trouble. The only thing I haven't done myself is install an amp or subwoofer because I don't really want to run wire through my car to the battery. It's probably not too hard though, there are videos all over youtube.
I bought new speakers for my mazda 6 2010, and do the extra 2 wires for the tweeters from the front speakers matter? I cut the wires to the connector and just soldered the two wires that were showing resistance and that let me figure out which was pos and neg. other than that, should I have done something with those 2 tweeter wires or no?
Hi ya. Was there an issue with the OHMS?? I've always thought Bose ran 2 OHMS. and most aftermarket stuff was 4 OHMS? I'm looking to replace a broken speaker in left door. not sure which way to go an the net is awash with bad info. Thanks.
@@jamesbirch6522 You don't have to do anything with the tweeter wires. I just found the 2 wires with resistance and it worked. Also no problem with ohms for me. I didn't have a bose system and i don't think it makes much of a difference. Plus i have installed a subwoofer system since then and everything is working fine.
i have bad experiences changing the stock audio of my ex car (or maybe the speakers was too big for the stock radio), how did the sound changed in the car? it was a notorious difference between the stock speakers and the new ones? i mean, did the bass get stronger? more fidelity?? i have a non-bose mazda 3 GT 2012 and the sound is good, but i want to change the whole car speakers with something like this pioneers!
José Ignacio Domingo Arruferia I like it a lot better! The bass is not as crazy as you might think, but is much better than stock. With these you won't get any vibrations or distortion at the higher volume. Tried many brand names in last years but I couldn't find such a strong and perfect sound as I did 15 years ago from some Panasonic 6/9s. These days, you need a sub to get that strong bass.
so what the colours you need to connect together with 4 wires, 2 for speaker and 2 for tweeter, but I'm not sure wich colour is speakers and which tweeter, help please.
+Andrej Novikov YOU can follow up the wires that goes to the tweeter and see the colors. Then the other 2, form the same socket are for the speakers. I was reading the 2 from the speakers with the radio on to see which on is + and which one is - ( with the positive reading you have the right signal, with negative is reverse- no good). Is not very clear in the video, but what I can see is that the 2 wires in the middle are speakers, and the left one is + and right is - when the connector is facing up with the locking guides.
It's simple! The aftermarket speakers have different plugs than the ones from Mazda. I cut/ removed the factory plugs and soldered new plugs. If not comfortably with soldering, you can purchase adaptors for few $.
Pro Tip: Mazda is using sound staging. Meaning rear speakers are there only there to "fill up" the space. They sound like crap even if you buy best speaker. Don't waste money, buy two front COMPONENT(only low and mid)speakers and 2 tweeters at least. While you are at it add some vibro filter sound proofing or similar because increased base will rattle.
+Nick ZoomZoom ASUMING the new buttons have been installed right, check connections, not lose, then try with the key in the contact to turn on start without starting the engine, then keep the driver side button up for 5 sec until you hear a click. If you don't hear the click, then you're missing the power in the button. Then check you fuse box, in case you blew one. Other options: remove the plug and check if all the pins are straight and connecting right/ remove battery negative to reset all computers
+Emil Carlover it blew 2 fuses 2 times..I have the 1,8 liter petrol mazda 6 and the buttons are from the 2,0 liter Mazda and I believe it doesn't fit and blows fuse every time because they are different..I opened them and checked the board inside and they are different 😞

Will a 5x7 inch speaker for in the doors?
I recently bought a 2013 mazda 6 and the dealership and multiple online stores and my local store says 6 1/2 are the stock size ? hmmm

6/8s for the non Bose system. Feel sorry for not buying 6/9s, and making some adaptors as there is plenty of space in the doors
