I agree, the best tutorials I found so far. Helps me a lot to progress my skills ! Even the 'simple' things I thought I knew, become more clear and makes you more aware of what you are doing. Thank you very much.
Superb video.. you guys have forgotten one other method .. place the kite on it's back, fold the bottom tip of the kite and cover in sand, go to your bar and hook in, pull the lines, the kite will erect and start flying, the tip will unfold and release the sand. Used a million times ;-) Works like a charm.
Nice video, thank you. For the drag method I'd also recommend keeping your chicken loop in your hand (unhooked) until the kite reaches the launch position. In case of tumble/bad drift and accidental launch just open your hand...
Thanks Sean, I'm trying to cover all the main kiting topics at this standard - it's a lot more work than I thought. If you think of any important topics I have missing let me know. Thanks, Alex.
it helps to not resist the kite I think, just before he launched it, he could have taken a step towards the kite and I think it would have dragged less through the sand. Great video :)
I agree with you! I experienced 2 hazardous self launches in strong wind without anchor , and had to eject to avoid dangerous issues, and did it with best results by making one step forward the kite when it just turned on its corner. Instead of drifting or launching immediately without good control it just moved a bit on its back side without launching. I had then plenty of time to adjust my position, my bar, and launch smoothly without risk.
I have to agree with the previous comments, very informative. Was this filmed in Boca Grande Aruba? I was fortunate enough to take lessons from Bechi of PKS there.
The leash is attached at 0:13 and then again 1:50, just before the chicken loop is taken. Anyone thinking about self launching should know how important it is to have your leash on before you launch.
Thanks for the feedback. Launching with your kite near the water will help give you cleaner wind. The wind is on shore at this beach, so either side is equally close to the sea. We launched the kite at 3 o'clock here in this case, as on the left side (9 o'clock) there are some large ditches and driftwood huts. Have you been to this beech?
Totally UNSAFE way to suggest the self launch & land :-| No safety respected interelly from the start up the end of the procedure. NOT RACOMANDE TO DO THAT IN ANY SITUATION

Great video yet again, guys. I'd like to point out that it's critically important to connect your leash before you hook into your chicken loop.

With the safety leash connected, chickenloop in hand.
By far the best tutorials on internet , thanks for taking your time to make this tutorials 🙌👏🏻🤙🏻

These tutorials are very well explained.
Very helpful for me, a basic kiter.
Thanks Dirk.
Very good tutorial. Thank you.
I'm amazed this beach has its own legit anchors :D
That is handy. Now I think about it, I've not seen another spot with kite launching anchors ready made. It's Boca Grande beach Aruba btw.
@@kitesurfcollege I'll definetly keep that in mind when I'll go to Aruba on a holiday 👌
Another excellent video. Nice one!
Thankyou very much. Alex.
Excellent videos!! Can please do a video on self landing?
Thanks & keep up the great work !
Thanks for the feedback. Yes self landing will be out soon. Need to get a few more clips first, to show self landing in a range of conditions.
Another great vid!

Hello Ron, yes this was filmed at Boca Grande, using the self-launch blocks down there.
Thank you!
Thanks ✌️🤙
good tutorial!!
Hello,
breathtaking film!
Have a good day :-)
thanks for this tutorial, is possible other tutorial vídeo , how to : self landing . like!
Yes, we have most of the footage for self landing. Hopefully will have time to make it soon.
** Always make sure to walk UPWIND of your lines incase the kite unexpectedly launches. **
i use a Carbihna Fireball, sorry no anchor :))
A Larkshead knot and a carabiner works great with a cabrinha fireball for anchor launch
What? No leash for the lady "anchor" launching?

My bad - watched it n my phone (first time) and missed these key steps!
good video, but again ... launch away from the parking lot and toward the water ALWAYS.

Can I get her number? Asking for a friend.
