- Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that has multiple functions in the brain and in the body. A deficiency in Serotonin can cause depression, insomnia, gastrointestinal motility issues, and many other dysfunctions. SSRI medications will not fix a serotonin deficiency. Only finding the cause and addressing it will lead to a cure.

I think most people can figure out what a healthy diet is. It's a matter of doing it.
Thanks for the videos. I'm going to keep watching in the hope that it helps to motivate me and keep me on track. OCD and A.D.D. sufferer, btw.
Wow. Exactly my problem. Atleast I think. I went to my gynecolgist with symptoms that I thought were perimenopause symptoms at age 39. She told me she feels I have a serotonin issue and to start ssris. I have been on celexa in the past but after being on them three years and got better, I weaned off. Been off of them now for about 11 years but symptoms coming back . I think I have leaky gut causing it all. I'm low on B12 and vitamin d. Ferritin is a little low as well. I want to treat it a natural way and plan on seeing a functional dr like you. Wish me luck. Wish I was in Nc
100% true and happen to me. Thank you!
I wish you were in Australia.
Id love to visit. And New Zealand too!
Hello Dr. John my doctor currently put me on Zoloft but I do not want to take it. what can I do to avoid taking them? what kind of Magnesium because, I know some does not absorb into the body as well as others? what 5htp brand would you recommend? and other natural ways to boost seretonin and dopamine?
+anne perry (africanamericanprincess) Without examining you I cannot tell you what specific solutions you need to pursue. As mentioned in the video, there are many potential areas in the pathway that you could have a hiccup. Correcting those go beyond 5HTP and magnesium. There are multiple systemic issues that can interrupt serotonin production, including blood sugar dysregulation, iron deficiency, stress, etc. These all need to be assessed and addressed based on findings and priorities.
Ok Thank You!
Thanks.
