The old town is so picturesque. When there’s still daylight, exploring it is more enjoyable thanks to visibility. I like the old architecture and the long cobblestone path. When it’s rainy and dark, the path and house fronts are only lit by lanterns and light coming through windows. The town’s atmosphere makes me think of a movie set, and that thought makes me smile. Thank you for the video.
The cobblestone path used to go all the way to Tokyo, I can only imagine what it would have been like to stop here for the night while making the long journey on foot. In the darkness and rain it certainly is a moody place : )
I really like this village too. And yes I did not stay completely dry. The rain at the end was pretty intense, but luckily it was coming almost straight down so the gear stayed mostly dry. It was actually a bit refreshing to have a splash of water in the mid-summer heat.
@@ambient_exploration yes I believe Japan gets very hot during the Summertime. Phew !that must have been a relief that your camera did not get wet. The rain is heavy and everywhere this year. The plants are washed out. 😘
Thank you! Sorry I don't have a route map, but if you look at Magomejuku on Google Maps the walk is basically from the northeast side of the Old Nakasendo to the southwest side and back again, with a few detours to the west along the way. maps.app.goo.gl/aL1ZjrWG2V6ci1UA8
Thank you! I was wondering about that little guy as well. First I thought he was a cat, but the movements looked different, almost like a puppy. It was so dark there I could see even less than the camera captured. So I don't know...your guess is as good as mine.
Thank you for the suggestion, I will be upgrading my camera soon to better capture scenes like this with high dynamic range sunsets and extreme low light
Thank you for the feedback, I try to film in 60fps as much as possible but in extreme lowlight situations like this one I sometimes reduce the framerate and shutterspeed to allow in a little more light. I'm still experimenting to try and find the best settings and equipment for these kinds of dark scenarios.
This part of the Nakasendo is popular with tourists, but more so during the day. It seems like most shops closed around 4 or 5 and so most people left as well. I did see one restaurant that was full of tourists, and a few other smaller places with people inside. There were also some people walking out and about, even when the rain came, but not as busy as during the day to be sure.

Beautiful village ❤️
Stunning. Such a picturesque location.
Amazing Place! Thank you for sharing ♥
Such a beautiful country, I bless Japan's very existence. How sadder and even more boring the world would have been without Japan.
Thank you so much for such an atmospheric experience 🙏🌱✨

You find places with good feelings. I wish it was HDR, though.
Thank you, and yes my camera was at it's very limit here. I'll be upgrading soon though so hopefully the footage can match the feelings.
@@ambient_exploration i love your videography, gear is the only limitation i can see other wise everything is perfect, will wait till you upgrade
What is the creature between 47:27 and 47:45? Beautiful video as always!

Why are streets so empty? Where are locals, tourists?

@@ambient_explorationI particularly like that there aren’t many people in the video
