Excellent video. I have the exact same setup in my 1973 Baron and have watched your video many times. It has helped me greatly, more than any other training video. Thank you !!
I made an error in the video when I said the GI 275 can display the GFC 600 annunciations. This is not correct, I believe Garmin may be adding that capability in the future. Additionally at 24:34 when I said the GFC 500 cannot fly a VNAV descent to the FAF, this is no longer the case. There was an update to the GFC 500 which added VNAV to the FAF.
Thanks for taking the time to show a real flight and see the PDF and GFC at the same time. It says in the GFC manual it will display when coupled "ALTV". Have not seen that yet. Still trying to figure out how you got the 2 mile final Callout...
Honestly I don’t ever recall seeing ALTV. The manual says it is when it Captures the Vertical Path Constraint Altitude. My guess here is, there was a time when the GFC 600 could descend using the VNAV button without lowering the altitude preselect. So you could descend directly to a constraint. This was changed so that you need to have your altitude preselect set lower than your current altitude in order to descend. I always see ALTS because I am always descending to a preselected altitude. Regarding the 2 mile final call out that was a ForeFlight call out, you hear it because I have it connected via Bluetooth to my audio panel.
@@RMAG Thanks for the reply - FYI: got an email from Garmin and they tell me ALTV will display if there is a constraint that has a flying level portion till the next waypoint before descending again.
We are currently in the middle of our all Garmin panel upgrade, I really appreciate this video. You are an excellent communicator, please keep making these videos. I have a few questions. Which headset are you using? Is it active noise canceling? What mic input setup do you use for the camera’s? What video editing software are you using? Thanks, Chad
@@TwinTimeVentures it is a Clarity Aloft Aviation Headset. No active noise canceling. I was using it due to low headroom clearance in the Baron. I have since switched to a Lightspeed Zulu. The audio adapter is an nflightcam. Video editing is Adobe Premiere Pro
Thank you. The clarity aloft has a great microphone, I’m considering that for my “day job”. Any particular reason that you’re using the GTN 650 for the primary?
@ Because I was filming the GFC 600 and the GTN 650 is right above it and has a smaller screen to get it all on the video. It would have been tougher to use the GTN 750. Not trying to film things I would use the 750.
@rmag just curious…I’m about to do a panel upgrade on my BE58, setup will look a lot like yours, with having the GFC 600, is the rudder bias included with the autopilot or is there extra cost? I’ve looked and looked and haven’t been able to find anything about cost or it being included.
With the 'CDI/DVI Preview' option on in the G500TXi, I have seen the DVI hollow grey diamond appear on several approaches. But have yet to notice the equivalent preview for the CDI.... am I missing something, or perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place? Love your videos!
If you are flying an RNAV GPS approach the line will always be magenta because you are always on a GPS course. If you fly an ILS and you’re currently on a GPS intercept, the CDI will be gray depicting the localizer before it turns green when you intercept it.
@@kencamp858 Another approach where you will see this is if you are flying a VOR approach. You can fly that whole approach using the GPS magenta needles. The requirement is that you also monitor the VOR during the approach. The VOR will be overlaid on the CDI with ghosted needles for the entire approach.
This is a great help. I have a B55 1972 baron. I have the GFC600 with a G600 pdf. I was told that Vnav and Bias are not approved yet for the Baron but Coming soon. I was wondering how you got it so soon in yours?
Very good. You have a gift for efficient communication.

Excellent video! Thanks a lot for the demonstration.
Excellent explanation; I think you covered all major features. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent overview! Clearly done!
i'm "like" #63? Crazy. This is really good stuff. I'll definitely go back and watch your other stuff. Thanks!
Excellent video. Thanks. GFC600 install pending for my Baron. This is most helpful.

Excellent video. Very informative. I'm currently installing a GFC600 on my 1984 Baron. Thank you.
Did you need to install the yaw dumper? I mean, for a baron 58 is mandatory to install an yaw dumper? Do you know that?
Excellent instruction and video

Awesome video!
Man that was so clear
Great video. Exceptionally clear pictures of the panel. Would you be willing to say what camera was used?
GoPro Hero 6 and 7’s
Hi Rmag. I saw your previous videos that you were able to setup voice command for”show flight timer page” for your GTN750? How did you set up?
You need a Garmin GMC 35c audio panel to do that and it is set up by your dealer

You need a G500 TXi, GFC 600 with yaw damper, and a switch to enable or disable rudder bias. The rudder bias is not an extra cost.
@@RMAG ok, thank you, I will have all that, so that is good to know
Awesome setup. What year is your Baron. ?
2001. In 2005 they switched to Garmin G1000 cockpit. I purposely wanted pre-2005 because I think the aftermarket avionics are better.
Excellent !!!!
Great thank you
