I attended Forman Elementary, which had opened a few years before this story ran. Now the district is considering closing Forman and several other schools as the city has gotten built out and the population is aging.

Plano kept growing for another 25 years after this story ran, and Plano ISD *did* become one of the region's largest districts, as the superintendent here predicted... they opened at least one new school pretty much every year through the 80s and 90s until around 2000, when growth began to taper off. The last new campus (McMillen High) opened in 2010. Now the district is effectively built out, and four schools built in the 1970s (including Davis Elementary, shown in this report) will be closing down as enrollment starts to decline.
