    Dear Gunjan,
    As a frequent viewer and subscriber of your videos I can honestly say I have learned a bunch from you. I thank you for pouring in your own time to teach youtube about the different variety of openings and specialized games that you show (the most attacking game series); and also for those who say that your videos are inaccurate because there are other moves to be played you can just do your own analysis since there are so many lines but little time to put all of them in 1 video. Keep up the good work though. :)

    White Pawn to e5: 5:09 (White accepts d6 9:09)
    White Knight to c3: 13:00
    White Bishop to c4: 14:31
    White accepts gambit: 15:50

    Guys please dont play this opening cause after f5 ,exf5 d5, Bb5 Bxf5, d4 the e5 square is very weak & that position is completely lost for black you all can check on any engine & this was said by GM Avetik Grigoryan! The colorado gambit is literally the worst gambit ever & wont help improve your chess in any manner

    I certainly will. I played blitz game straight away with this strategy. I always have a problem in the early game, since I am self-taught in chess, I don't know how to counter usual openings. With this strategy, I can get to the middle game without most of the usual threats. I think my main problem is that in early most players who studied chess at least a little bit have a huge advantage against me.

    I'm sorry, but I do not speak English (thanks to the Google translator!); a small contribution with an old game. Colorado gambit refused: 1. e4 Nc6 2. Nf3 f5 3. Nc3 fxe4 4. Nxe4 d5 5. Ng3 e5 6. Bb5 Bd6 7. Bxc6+ bxc6 8. Nxe5 Qf6 9. Nf3 Bg4 10. O-O Ne7 11. d3 O-O = Boros - Krivos, Budapest 1925

    My friend, I think U might have missed this move: if the Gambit was accepted, and Black plays 3... d5 Then White would respond immediately with 4. Bb5, and If 4... Bxf4, Then 5. Ne5! So how Black should respond, 'cuz if the Bishop drops back to d7, then the whole gambit is almost worthless 'cuz White is ahead in development!
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

    25:20 First off, "sooner or later the game will be open". Did you literally dismiss the whole Nimzo-Indian with one sentence?
    And second, there is absolutely no reason for white to give up the bishops trying to further cripple the black pawn structure, since the backward e pawn on the half open file is already a big weakness

    Gunjan, my opponent always plays Qh3 at 7.10 and not to h4.. after that, if i play f4 checking his queen with my bishop, he takes my pawn with his knight (checking my queen also). Well, the next moves destroy the game. I manage to undouble my pawns after queens are taken out, he doubles his pawns in h-file buttt i am 2 PAWNS down . Is there any other choice except f4 which could give me advantage ??

    Thank you !!! Your Colorado Gambit video gave me a lot of wins Gunjan.. But i want to ask something from you.. there 's no Nimzowitsch defence video on RUclips..most of us know the 3 or 4 variations of that defence but noone till now presented an instructive way to use that defence against e4, d4 by white, unless there is another way to deal with that opening... Nimzowitsch Defence hides many tricks and tactics !!!!

    I suppose those at this level of game play really should know the rank and file id by heart, but I don't -- I would have liked to see the letter-numbers on the board since they were continuously referenced -- just my point of view.
    Loved the game play though, very informative. Keep doing well.

    It seems to me that the critical refutation of this opening is the position at 23:12, but instead of white giving black a tempo with 7. Qh5+, immediately go 7. Bg5. In this case, black cannot break the pin with 7...Qd6 because of 8. Bf4, introducing the threat of a discovered attack on the Queen with Ng6, and without the tempo gain from 7. Qh5+, black has a hard time developing his bishop on f8 without getting his other bishop trapped.

  • @norsage
    @norsage 11 лет назад

    I stand corrected, thank u however when I play this line as black, my computer responded at move 4 with N-h4 defending the pawn after 3... d7-d5. instead of Bf1-d3. I did manage to win the knight in exchange for three pawns. 1. e4 N-c6 2. Nf3 F7-5 3.PXP D7-5 4. nf3-h4 ng8-h6 5. Q-h4+ g7-6 6. PXP PXP 7. NXP and after Bc8-g4 whites Queen moved to G5 and I pinned it with Rook to G8.

  • @jeffpokorski5451
    @jeffpokorski5451 11 лет назад

    Hi, at 6:23 you give 6 Bc6+ but this allows bxc6 which protects the queen so black can win a piece after 6. Qh5+ g6 7Nxg6 Nf6 when any knight discovery appears to lose material such as 8 Nf4+ Nxh5 9 Nxd5 exd5 etc. But what if 6 Qh5+? Then it appears that black's best chance is 7.....Qe4+ 8Kf1 Nf6 9 Qh4 and white seems
    better I think. I like this line but do you have anything better for black in this scenario? Thanks

  • @philWynk
    @philWynk 11 лет назад

    At around 22:30, when you're just about done considering ways to defend the pawn on f5, you do not consider the move 4. g4. I play the King's Gambit a lot, and frequently encounter players who are comfortable with the complementary position for black, with pawns on f4 and g5. Do you recommend undermining the structure with h5, do you develop the knight to f6, or do you ignore the structure altogether and do something I haven't thought of yet?

  • @LebendigerGeist
    @LebendigerGeist 11 лет назад

    I find the opening very exciting although I must admit it does seem a bit suicidal to me. I'm unconvinced of your version of the accepted gambit:
    1. e4 Nc6
    2. Nf3 f5
    3. xf5 d4
    4. Nh4 Nh6
    5. Qh5+ g6
    6. xg6 xg6
    7. Qxg6 Nf7
    8. Nf3 Rh6
    (20:27)
    I'd suggest 9. Qd3. Black can chase the queen around a bit, but then if white manages to develop and castles on the queen's side, he is 2 pawns up, I doubt the awkwardness of white's position is worth that much.

    1 e4 Nc6
    2 Nf3 f5
    3 exf5 d5
    4 Bb5 Bxf5
    5 Bxc6 bxc6
    6 Nd4......attacking bishop and pawn on c6
    .........correct move for black is Qc8 ...
    (if now white is foolish enough to take the pawn on c6.....then to his horror....black would play Qe6+ winning the knight) apologies fr using ur language...

  • @fuckingSickOfCreepyG

    6:30 Bb5 looks just fine to me, what's not so good is Qh5+? (patzer check) then Nxg6?? then Qh4? After these three consecutive blunders, yeah the trap is vicious.
    That line is absolutely fine for white after 1. e4 Nc6 2. Nf3 f5 3. e5 d6 4. Bb5 dxe5 5. Nxe5 Qd5 6. Bxc6+ bxc6 7. Nf3 with the only problem that queens are going to come off early and some people find that rather annoying.

Today i tried this opening in a online chess site with a high rated player 1800+ . he accepted the gambit and i given d5 in reply , Immediately he played Bishop B7 which turns out to be shocker for me and i lost the game . what should be thebetter move in that case .

  • @LebendigerGeist
    @LebendigerGeist 11 лет назад

    Instead of Qd3 I'd probably try walking back to d1 with the queen (but I'm not using a search engine). It's just that it doesn't seem like best play from white in your video, it seems d3 instead of d4 after Bf4 would have been more stabilizing. I see no compelling reason why, with best play, white shouldn't be able to pick himself up and win the endgame.

  • @rookenforcer

    My timing was off a little, at 6:20 when the queen basically forks (Qd5) the bishop and knight. Then Qe2 for white, I notice the black knight would've made a nice little attack on the white queen except that its pinned. what are the possibilities? even though at this juncture, whites g2 pawn is under suicide watch.

  • @POGOTEL

    Another new trap, which "accidentally" came to me during the attempts in practice games.
    1. e4 Nc6
    2. Nf3 f5
    3. exf5 d5
    4.Bb5 Bxf5
    5. Nd4 Bd7
    6. Qh5+ g6
    (if now white is foolish enough to take the pawn on d5.....then to his horror....black would play Nf6 winning minimum the knight or bishop) apologies fr using ur language...

    Are you sure that black is more than equal?
    Black has some weak squares and some targets and white has a wonderful knight on e5. White can even win a pawn in that line, though slower play may be better due to black's weaknesses.
    I've just checked and Houdini gives white a +0.6 advantage.

  • @rookenforcer
    @rookenforcer 11 лет назад

    also if you look closely and analyze the game at 6:10, both bishops for black player are block hence executing the queen check on the h file later in the game seems rather foolish as it opens the game more for the black player - thanks again for a great video

    Thakns for the instructive video. I use this opening a lot. First of all because indeed it confuses most of the white e4-openers. Also if white's second move is not Nf3, the Nimzovitsch defense is a completely sound opening which isn't that hard to learn and which has also the big advantadge of confusing white from the opening on. This video is to me great because it covers the declined lines as well. Great job!

    Colorado Gambit attempt at chess club, but I lost very quick.
    What if e5 d6 then d4 ? I lost very quickly against an experienced player.
    Game went like this.
    e4- Nc6
    Nf3 - f5
    e5- d6
    (Didn’t show if white plays)
    After
    D4 -Be6
    D5 - Nxe5
    Dxe5 - Nxf3
    Qxf3- Nh6
    Bxh6 - gxh6
    Qxf5 - Bg7
    Qf7#
    Fast lose for me. What do I do if white plays d4 after d6? I know many mistakes, after d4 -dxe5* would have been better, but does this gambit still work and how from dxe5 ? This line gave up my pawn structure. I would like to use it but when do you abort and what line can you go into and survive?

    it might be "aggressive", but i don't like the looks of it at all... trapped behind one's own pawns. it's like playing the fun killing stonewall, or being straightjacketed by the advance variation in the scandinavian... two of the reasons i quit playing chess because there isn't a book editor/study tool that works intuitively

    The critical line in the Colorado gambit is 1.e4 Nc6 2.Nf3 f5 3.exf5 d5 4.Bb5! Bxf5 5.Ne5! when White has a strong hold on the e5 square. It is hard for Black to equalize in this line. I have analyzed the very sharp 5...a6!? 6.Nxc6 Qd7!? 7.Nxe7 axb5 8.Nxf5 Qxf5 and though White has the extra pawn, Black has a free and open game with pressure down the a-file. White has to be careful how he continues in this line.

    22:29 what if you're opponent played bishop to b5 instead of pawn to d4?

    I don't remember when I subscribed to your channel, but I'm glad I did. Did you change the name of it?
    Anyway I like learning gambit lines even if they are unsound because I think that it helps me try to get the most out of other openings, and also to realize in some positions where in the past I would just think "I'm losing" I now can see the position for what it is and take advantage of the compensation I have in it.
    A case point is when I played a certain game and my opponent went pawn hunting with his queen and at first I thought it was over for me.-(this was a good 5 years ago) But then I started to really look at the position, even as my opponent told me I should resign. I discovered a different way of thinking and seeing, and I developed pieces while attacking his queen, and about 8 or 10 moves later I was not down 2 pawns but up 2 pawns with a great position and he resigned the game.

    At 7.36 what if white plays NC4 - discovered check then black replies NxQ and white follows NXQ, Black follows with c6xQ and white castles...giving white an advantage of having a good pawn structure ...

    Yes! d4 seems to be the response 90% of the time and gives the most trouble. We await your video.

    @ 7:06
    Do you have a reply to ...Nf4+? (after Nxh5 Nxd5 ofc...)
    That kinda looks bad for black there. :(
    P.S. Gunjan, you have to be the happiest chess player on Earth!! :)

    I was wondering how play would proceed if play was
    1.e4 Nc6
    2.Bc4 f5
    3.exf5 d5
    4.Qh5+
    is 5) ...g6 appropriate?
    How should Black respond? Thanks

    GJ_Chess, What "Jesus" was apparently trying to say was that after black moved his Nf6 , at minute 11:12 , white can play dxe which either gains a pawn or forces black to forego castling.F. Augart

    19:38 can white not just play h4 and if ..Qd6, h5 and white keeps the monster knight on g6?

    Colorado gambit is simply bad for black. It is crucial, however, to play Bb5 pinning the knight on c6 before playing d4. It is an important mover order finesse. This positional variation, which basicaly refutes the whole ideaof the gambit, has not been covered in this video.

    Teach the JEROME gambit! A friend of mine and I worked that out over the board when we were fifteen.

    Hello mr. Gunjan i am IM. I found that ur analysis is good no doubt u have revealed fine aggresive lines, bt i found some loopholes in ur mating tacties which is not possible here to define your opponent response to defuse your tacties. There may be a better response which might be reverse for u. U r actully missing/hiding those moves.. I am sorry to say, but it's true. Ur tacties might work against beginners but not against intermediate..so my humble request before making video do more analysis/calculations so that ur chess lovers can learn every possible moves most from you. You can win through tacties only by opponent blunder, otherwise it's the game in which you need to see the every side of a corner(8*8)

    Hi Gunjan! When white plays 2.Nc3 instead of usual 2.Nf3, is it wise to continue with the Colorado gambit, 2...f5? Thanks!

    hey GJ Chess, you're a legend, but, i keep trying to play this and no one ever plays the example lines shown in the vid so i keep getting beat, arrggghh! hahahaha! i try to study my games afterwards and see what i could have done better, but can't always figure it out? LOL nothing beats experience tho i guess.. i think i need to adapt to a different type of game when the colorado gambit isn't on, and not just hope it's going to happen the way i'd like... Love..

    Hi Gunjan, at 6:34 what should we do if white plays Nf3 instead of Qh5+ ..because for black there are double pawns in C file and c7 and a7 pawns will be a weekness for black... can u please suggest any line from there?
