I have recently started playing bomber crew and got completely obliterated. But I did the exact same with the new plane and new crew by having a slightly different strategy. It’s awesome how much a single mission can change with slightly different tactics.
It would be cool if you could unlock and choose different models for your spacecraft to make your ship design more diverse. I played Bomber Crew and that was definitely something that me and some others players wish they had, like how in the USAAF DLC campaign you were using a different type of bomber. Anyways, great review! I am certainly going to purchase this and give it a try.
Also, I want to express my appreciation that your reviews come after DOZENS of hours of gameplay. There are too many hot takes, first impression reviews, and generally uninformative "reviews" on RUclips across so many games. This channel really is a breath of fresh air.
Thank you, my friend. Those are kind words indeed. I do make First Impressions videos, but I only usually do that with games I have had no chance to see until release day.
Excellent! Thank you very much. I look forward to seeing future comments. I wish I could make more reviews than I do, but they take a lot of time so I only do a few every year.
@@KnightsArcade I understand that mate. I write reviews myself and a lot of people (myself included) underestimate the time investment per game. Keep at it man! Even if it is only a few a year :)
Awesome review man! Love Bomber Crew, glad to see this one has a few more bells and whistles. Still need to beat the last expansion on BC but after that it looks like I’ll be getting my crew killed in space! 😂
Excellent review, I think you've done the game justice by it. Hopefully the devs can keep future crews from pulling a pilot with the skinny-spacewalking. Naturally my dude faceplants dead just as he goes out the door. Ah memories.
Glad to hear it. If you never make any major errors, I think you can keep going from strength to strength... because you can upgrade your ship, your crew skills and your equipment and keep improving as the game gets harder. But if you get sloppy in even ONE mission... you go back several spaces and everything gets really tough, really fast. The trick, I learned to my cost, with Space Crew, is you really have to use EVERY SINGLE THING in your arsenal. Need to make repairs before the next wave? hang back near the jump gate with your finger on the "Engage" button while fixing yourself up. Need a second to recover shields and health in the middle of a fight? Use evasive manoeuvres. Can't use evade because it's still recharging? Use stealth. Still need more time? Call for fighter assistance. You need to use absolutely everything and everyONE to their full potential, or you're gonna get owned.
Can take crew from bomber crew neat Forgot use space suit Only problem is front need use keyboard Don't use fast routes if you noobie Like purge switch Escape pods and like playability
Game tip: you can purge sections 1, 2, and 3, for easy fire retardance. Crew in those sections who are shut in their turrets will not be affected by the vacuum. You can also purge these sections to quickly get ride of enemy boarders.
Great review. Ashame they did not include co-op or more modular ships:) still impressive by two devs.. just like falconeer which just got one dev (like stardew valley)
I came here on the fence about this game, and I'm leaving still on the fence. I have Bomber Crew and was hopeful that Space Crew would expand more on it, but all I'm really seeing is a few extra features and while it will stay on my steam wishlist, it'll stay where it is at the bottom. I'm not criticizing your review, you did well to make it 13 minutes by the looks of it, I just feel that having learned more about the game that I'm no closer to wanting to spend money on it or abandoning it
Lol. I can understand that. It is basically Bomber Crew with a few more features. Still not really enough variety to make a HUGE difference, but I do think it's a slight improvement. Thanks for watching.
What the overall map size in this game? I know it probably doesn't even matter but I'm interested in the art style of the game and would like to know the variety of different planets, I've seen a gas giant and a black hole, and also a normal star too but is there anything else? Or do you keep going back to the same areas with the same planets and stars?
I honestly don't really know, because... the game is incredibly hard, so progressing outside the solar system is tough. But there are 3 main chapters, and 95% of what you see in this video is from just the first chapter. The chapters are The Solar System... Deep Space... and the Phasmid Nebula. Almost everything in this review is from the Solar System chapter. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but yeah... there's a lot more to the campaign than there was to Bomber Crew. A lot more variety in general.
@@KnightsArcade ahh that seems fair enough! I'm a no man's sky player so coming across a new planet frequently is very satisfying to me so I was just wondering how the layout of this game would be, cheers for the info though great review! And cheers for responding too that's awesome! Liked and subbed 👍
I like it but I cannot recommend it unless you are good at this kind of games, I'm doing just fine buy my gf cant get past a few missions and had issues with the tutorial, since the difficulty sometimes is just crazy.
Yes, the difficulty is insane at times. I'm having real trouble with it. I have mentioned a game's difficulty in reviews I've made of other games, but I try to avoid mentioning how hard a game is, if I can, because you get so much hate from basement heroes who can't wait to tell the world they're better than you. Thanks for watching.
Also... they announced yesterday that they are working on an update which will ad a few things to make the game slightly easier. I'm making a short video about it now.
The one thing that will totally kill my interest in this game is if it doesn't have a pause option. No way I'd be able to get used to managing all these crew and situations without a Pause and issue commands while paused, system.
@@KnightsArcade I think you might have misconstrued what XWolven meant, the devs said there's no active pause feature right? Like we had in FTL that allowed us to pause and still give commands/assess things? I'm going to assume you mean there's a literal pause when you hit Esc/options but I don't think that's what XWolven meant. Like me, I want an FTL-like pause feature not a slow time feature.
Not likely. Other reviewers don't tend to do that sort of thing, I don't think. More likely it's just people who didn't like my voice. Or the wind was too bright that day and they just wanted to troll someone. It happens.
Have they turned it into a proper rogue like? That was the biggest problem with Bomber Crew. No permanent fail state so you couldn’t “lose.” Making the game a test of patience not skill.

Yeah, there's a lot of replaying missions in this one. I'm finding it much harder than Bomber Crew was.
Powerless weapons are the best. They saved me many times in emergencies. Btw, I played on hardest diffeculties.

@@Estupitastico In my opinion... yes, it was harder than Bomber Crew.
