When Robert Kraft hired Gerard Mayo as the head coach, I thought it was Make-a-Wish type deal. I thought Gerard Mayo was maybe dying of cancer or aids, or something like that. And they were going to let him stand on the sidelines for a preseason game as a thank you for his years of service before he goes to be roommates with Jesus. I was wrong. Honestly, I'm surprised they won three games. I figured squeaking 1 tie out of the season would have been a bridge too far

They beat the mighty Jets and Bears - two of the leagues most disappointing bottom-feeding dogs. Most of our losses are HUGE blow-outs. Know who gets blown out a lot??? Teams NOT prepared.

As a 30+ year season ticket holder I believe The Pats need to make major changes starting with the front front office. Outside of Maye their draft was awful and the guy in charge of the draft, Wolf, is not new to drafting. He was there when Belicheck drafted terrible wideouts and he did the same thing in the last draft. Our #2 and #4 picks are awful. And to think we could have had McConkey! LA picked up a number of good free agents, had a great draft, and hired an experienced coach. As a result they are a respectable team with a bright future. No one wants to come here and play for coaches and a front office with no experience and no direction. Time to clean house. Wolf and everyone else needs to go. We are now the laughing stock of the NFL. Time for the adults in the room to take over.

On the Bright Side, Drake Maye has shown spark under a regime who is just completely dismantled right now. For him to come in and play like he has especially for the second half of the season is spectacular and a needed bright spot on the NE squad. Id also say that Demario Douglas is another piece NE can build around. Someone just needs to come in with a specific blue print and follow it to a tee. Drake can be that guy to steer the ship 🚢 As a Vikings fan I'm still very interested in how this is all going to turn out in NE, crazy to see a powerhouse for more then a decade turn into a team with no direction. I'm actually rooting for them and for Drake.

I'm curious what happens in Minny...they spent a high pick on McCarthy - who's the future - but Darnold had been surprisingly good (to some, not me - I saw him in SF)...tough to move on from winning to rolling the dice. Do they tag and trade Darnold? Who'd make the deal? Is it Darnold or the combination of O'Connell's offense PLUS JJ, Addison and Hockenson...and McCarthy is not just totally unknown, he's coming off a big injury...
Maye has been OK - what is VERY bright is how good he can be if NE can put a LINE in front of him and give him a LEGIT WR - like Higgins - but there are a several older vet WRs who could help Maye AND a young WR room

I remember not one but TWO lies coming out of Foxboro after BB was axed. First was Belichick and Kraft had some sort of secret agreement: if BB was fired, Kraft had to hire Mayo. No way that's true. That's called a poison pill...Bill is fired and as a last f*** you to kraft, Krafty is FORCED to hire a totally incompetent unqualified guy as HC - making the team will be WORSE - which is hard to imagine.

Once the team starts really losing money and fan base, ownership MIGHT consider a change at HC but by then it's not likely that there will be any decent candidates available and they'll end up with another stiff.

It's like New England is now paying the price for having been so dominant for so long with Brady/Belichick.

I have read that Belichick put this team together on his way out as a way to continue his legacy, and that it was his weakness as a talent spotter - with rare exceptions - that led to this. The more paranoid version is that this was his big FU to the Krafts for interfering with his decisions. Whatever, I grew up with a Patriots team that was consistently awful. It was embarrassing. Parcels and Bledsoe helped to change the culture. Then Belichick and - after Bledsoe’s injury - Brady, started on a historic run that was a nearly miraculous transformation. Now they’re in the depths again. I remember when the Detroit Lions were consistent contenders and I remember when they could hardly win one game. Now they’re back up. It happens in every sport. The Patriots can rise again but you may have to be a little patient. Bob Kraft was one of the miracle workers, but he’s now 83. I would like to see him shift more responsibility to Jonathan. When the coaching staff is such a mess, it takes top management to make the moves and it needs someone with energy to get on top of it. Hope we don’t have to wait too long.

Robert the doddering woke old fool went DEI and hired unqualified, inexperienced Mayo because of color THEN doubled down on his woke stupidity by hiring a broad - Robyn Glaser - as "Assistant to the Head Coach". Her "experience" before that promotion working with the NEW HEAD COACH was 'helping players with social justice issues'. I'm sure she was a HUGE help for unqualified Mayo...

When HALF the losses are blow outs - and they mostly came after a close game, but still a loss - that is clearly indicative of a coaching staff that is incapable of having their team PREPARED.

Mayo is getting a Guaranteed next year, BB only one 2 more games more then Mayo current record in this first season. After that year BB had a winning record. Your silly if you think no one else remembers that. But i believe that Mayo has BB imprinted on him hard enough that he going to revamp this team big time in the offseason. People forget that Wolfe did go after elite targets with some even getting better contracts then what they actually chose. We seen Wolfe go after targets to try to improve this team midseason with the OL. Patriots are going to be even more dangerous next year as Wolf and Mayo are a sleeping giant. Watch Mayo pull a coach prime in NE.

Don't get me wrong, I like Jerod Mayo. I really wanted him to succeed. However, as the season went on, it's clear that he just wasn't ready for the job. He needed to gradually increase his responsibilities much like Mike Vrabel. I think Bob Kraft should swallow what's left of his pride and let Jerod go. I'm not too sure about Eliot Wolfe as GM. He does have a great mentor in his dad. I'm just shocked how bad this has gotten.

    • @Mark-wo9yt
      @Mark-wo9yt 18 дней назад +2

Please, first of all RON Wolf has been out of football for DECADES and is 85. After the last Wolf draft, if dad is helping, he needs to stop. Maye was handed to us @ #3. My dog could have made that pick. Every pick AFTER that? Whiff. Zero. What about FA signings? Just as bad. The big not-former-NE-player was Austin Hooper. Brilliant.
Mayo wasn't QUALIFIED or experienced enough to be promoted to DC, never mind head coach. But good luck getting rid of Mayo after one season without the woke msm mob ripping the Krafts and Patriots as 'racists'. Van Pelt will be made scapegoat - maybe Covington - but Mayo should get the boot. The D got WORSE under him, there's a new culture of losing (we know we're bad...) and Mayo is a disaster in front of the media.

Without talent on the FIELD, it doesn't matter who coaches this team. Anybody remember the last few years of BB's talentless bunch. No, stop panicking everyone. If they lose to Buffalo, they get the number 1 overall pick. Shit teams are supposed to get the number 1 pick...and the top pick in each round after as well. Plus, there is also Atlanta's 3rd rounder as well...thats not a small chip. Do the smart thing that rebuilding teams do...either pick the best guy at every draft position OR find a team that goes mental for one of the QB's coming out...theres always someone who falls in love with a prospect and will overpay...and speaking of overpays...this team HAS to overpay for free agents with the millionaire tax and shitty weather. Hey, who has the most monet under the cap for 2025? The Pats. If the Krafts want t a new GM and Coach, go for it...but be prepared for someone who wants control over everything...thats how its done today.

It's ALSO racist to spew there is a different standard for him because he' black. First of all, donkey, no experience, no qualifications - HIRED because of skin color. If he was white, he NEVER would have been considered as HC, never mind hired.
Second, he played LB and had a couple years coaching INSIDE LBs so the ASSUMPTION was the tiny expertise he MIGHT have would be on DEFENSE...and the defense is WORSE, not better.
Third - everybody assumed he'd change - IMPROVE - the 'culture' which soured in Belichick's last couple seasons. Players hated him, didn't want to play for him - and it SHOWED. Mayo was SUPPOSED to change that - young coach, a 'players coach'... the culture is worse if anything. The team is unprepared most of the time and players are regularly thrown under the bus by their HC. Finally - Mayo is TERRIBLE in press confs...rips everyone but himself.
When you hire based on COLOR ONLY - it's not 'racist'...it's dumb

Nobody forgot - I know I didn't. Belichick the GM killed this team. In Brady's last 3-4 years - when NE was still winning go back and look at BB's horrendous drafting. NE continued to win (thanks to Brady AND a top 3 defense) BUT, as soon as Brady (and others) left via free agency, the players DRAFTED and/or signed expected to fill holes couldn't. They stunk. BUT as long as Brady and NE was winning, nobody looked at the horrific drafting...
For years BB cried 'it's not just the QB (Brady) it's the system!'. To PROVE that he plugged in washed up sCam Newton to replace Brady confident if sCam followed his 'system' NE would continue to win - in part because they STILL had a top defense - NE's D ranked 7th that year.
How'd that work out? Horrendous. Brady was a MUCH bigger piece of the puzzle, Newton was a disaster who didn't want to follow ANY system and years of poor drafting started this team's nosedive. No QB, little talent and the D getting worse every year.
