    Hello FeeShion.
There are 2 ways that you can do this, blind hem or attaching the lining to the hem, the neatest being the latter. If you are going to attach to the lining fuse the hem and attach from the inside just like you would with a jacket hem. If you are going to blind hem, again fuse the hem on the inside and blind hem by hand. Do not pull the stitches tight, just enough so that they are laying flat against the hem but not loose. This will give a really nice finished blind hem.

    Dress attachment continued -
Open the dress out and construct the vent, i would suggest pinning the vent in place and then hanging the dress up to see if the vent is lying correctly and not pulling, this way you can monitor and adjust the vent with pins before you sew it. When the vent is in and hanging correctly, attach the side seams together and you will be nearly there. If your dress has sleeves, set in now and the finish off the dress with the hem.
    I hope this helps you
    Regards Mike

    Hello.
The way that i construct a dress is to create the front panels first, then construct the back panels including a zipper if it has one. Then onto the lining, attaching the lining to the neck front facings and the same with the back attaching the back neck facings to the lining. When you have created all of the panels mentioned above you should have 4 sepperate parts, the front & back main panels and the front & back lining panels with neck facings attached. - Continued in next reply

If i was to make a strapless dress i would then adopt to make the outer body of the garment first, then the lining in full second. When complete i would attach the lining to the body of the dress leaving the lining as a floating lining (not attached at the bottom) I would then hang up the dress or put on a maniquin to attach the vent with pins first this way you can adjust if needed, when the lining is hanging and there is no sign of pulling, continued on next reply.

    Dress attachment continued -
Next attach both fornt and back lining panels together via the shoulder seams which will be part lining and part neck facing. Next attach the main body panels again via the shoulder seams. You will now have 2 sepperate panels the linings and the main body panels. Now attach the lining to the main body panels via the neck facings. Once you have done that every panel will be attached leaving only the side seams to go. Continued on next reply
