      What do you want? As a relative, i know that you do not have my best interests at heart. When you speak of the grades of your children, you do so to try and flex your superiority over me and my parents. It is only i and my parents, who have my best interests at heart.
      And the best part is that after a while, me and my siblings regularly started getting much better grades than them and their children. We never flexed on them, and we frankly did not care. For me, it is to uphold my own high status. But, having a bad mark every now and then does not diminish my status at all. It's about wanting the best for yourself.

    Passed my accountancy exam in the UK. A passing grade was something like 55% and far more difficult than anything I had in the states. The states is only a bunch of multiple choice and basic regurgitation. My accountancy exam was a series of timed essays. But they also graded on the curve so it’s not like you actually earn the grade. It’s just how you do compared to the group. And then this group has the audacity to brag that they have consistent % of passing grades.

    In the Netherlands it goes from 1 to 10 (so 9 increments and those are subdivided into tenths) and below 5,8 is insufficient. This is because at the end of the year the weighted average is rounded up to whole or half numbers and 5,7 would be a 5,5 which is equivalent to 50% and you need to know at least more than half.

    To elaborate about the German system because people don't seem to get it: It's like the US system used to be with A-F and E still being present (as it was in the US until the late 1900s), E and F both being failing grades, just replace the letters with numbers.
    The distinction between 5 and 6 is that if you get a 5 in a class at the end of the year, you can average it out with a 3 (you can do that for 2 subjects). But if you get a 6 in just one of your classes, you have to repeat all of them and lose an entire year.

  • @mollieirvine1026
    @mollieirvine1026 4 дня назад

    In the UK it's not so much a specific percent you need to get: all scores for everyone sitting that subject across the country are collected and ranked from highest to lowest. The top 5% will get a 9 (or A* at A level) the next however many an 8 (or A at A-level) and so on. At GCSE, a 3 or below is a fail, at A level, I'm not actually sure what the passing grade is, which is ridiculous since I'm halfway through mine now, but try not to get below a C I guess. Basically all that means is that the passing percent will be higher if the exams were easier that year and lower if the exams were harder.

    In Germany, we have marks from 1-6 and everything above 4 or 4 is passing and 5 and 6 is failing. We also do it like this:
    1,0-1,4 = 1
    1,5 -2,4 = 2
    2,5 -3,4 = 3
    3,5 -4,4 = 4
    4,5 -5,4 = 5
    5,5 And under that is 6

  • @maxvandenberg955
    @maxvandenberg955 18 дней назад

    In the Netherlands anything under a 5.5 is a fail. Lowest being a 1.0 and highest a 10.0. Normal passage rate is 50% and yes our exams are quite difficult.
    We even have a mathematical formula to calculate whether the person has passed. Normally it’s x/y*9+1.
    If the test was made horribly by everyone they may change it to x/y*8+2
    A stricter formula is x/y*10 (+0). This requires 55% for passage.
    It is possible to score a > 10 but that would be marked as 10.0 and then the bonus point will go to the next test but their is no guarantee that those questions will be on the test (mostly those questions aren’t there).
    Also different tests can have different weights per test.

  • @hatrez3679
    @hatrez3679 Год назад +1706

    For those who are curious:
    In Germany 🇩🇪 the the grades are indeed calculated as 1 - 6 (1 being the best possible grade you can have and 6 the worst).
    You can have a 2+ which is basically closer to a 1 but it wasn’t enough for the better grade. Or you can have a 1- which means that you rocked it but had 1 or 2 minor errors.
    In highschool(Abitur) we have a slightly different grading system.
    It begins with 15 (best grade) till 0.
    15 points = 1+
    14 points = 1
    13 points = 1-
    12 points = 2+
    … you get the idea.
    If you have decided to go to university you will face another grading system. But again still very similar to those mentioned earlier.
    1.0 being the best grade and 5.0 the worst (technically it’s 6 but you will only get a 6 if you don’t show up to the test or smth.)
    You can have a 2.0 which actually translates to a 2+.
    2.3 = 2
    2.7 = 2-
    3.0 = 3+
    3.3 = 3

    If you get anything worse than a 4.0 you will fail the class and it will count as a 5.0
    Most of the time you will get 4.0 if you have 50% correct answers. Some professors do it differently. Sometimes it’s 49%.

    The idea behind the 6 grades here in Germany is, and that's how it's originally been used as far as I know, that 6 means "ungenügend", which means in no way sufficient. 5 means "mangelhaft" or partly sufficient. 4 is "ausreichend", what means it is sufficient, but just barely tolerable. 3 is "befriedigend", which says mostly satisfying. 2 is "gut" and means there are no shortcomings ("gut" translates to good, just fyi). And 1 stands for "sehr gut" (translates to "very good") and means it is written in such a style that, even for something with no mistakes or shortcomings, it stands out. "Sehr gut" is used synonymously to "hervorragend" or outstanding. But we also have a percentage system behind it, so 50% of all points is the passing mark and gives one a 4/"ausreichend".

      When did they change that when I went to school on Bayern a 1 was equivalent to a A and a 6 was F this was in 2014

      @@BF4ClanTBS it's still that way, just until grade 10. When you reach grade 11-13 it's the 0-15 point system

    Over here at least when I was in school, like six years ago, the failing grade was 70%, but if you failed you could take another test worth 10 points. If your previous points plus the new points averaged are 70% or above, then you still pass.

    Most exams in the UK have their grade boundaries set by the cohort themselves. The top X% of students will get the highest grade (9), and the next percent will get the next grade, which is an 8, and so on. A grade 3 is a fail, and a 4 is a low pass. This is for GSCEs at least.

    Here in Brazil, the grades go from 0-10 (some exceptions go from 0 to 100). For most Public schools, anything below 5 is a failing grade. And for most Private schools anything below 7 is a failing grade.
    Just keep in mind, private schools are much more common here than in North America or Europe...

      Here in Argentina is similar. Anything below 6 or 7 (depending on the province) is a fail.
      That's only high school and below though. For college and universities it's actually anything under 4 (though exams are hard).

      Similar here in Argentina but for some reason 4 is the minimum to pass a university exam or at least in the one I go to

      @@enzopastrana9043 Eso es porque en las universidades un 4 es igual a 60% del examen correcto.
      Esto es para reservar los 10 para los exámenes verdaderamente sobresalientes. Dependiendo de las materias, algunas te dejan promocionar (es decir, aprobar sin hacer exámen final) si tú nota general es 7 o más (7 equivale a 80% de la nota).
