I was so disappointed by Netflix's "Death to 2020" because it was such a narrow and self-centered overview of the year from the perspective of the West. So much more was happening around the world. Refugees starving and dying in their hundreds stranded on ships; 300 pupils kidnapped by terrorists in Nigeria; kids in india dying from vaccine testing; a deadlier and more contagious strain being found in South Africa; to name but a few. These stories have rarely been given the attention they deserve, yet we hear Trump's name everyday almost everywhere you look
while I agree that it did not encompass news that needed to be addressed and it does more harm than good to silence those other world events, it did a good job at making fun of America because we are the ones that failed hardest and continue to fail harder than most other countries, and that is all anyone every heard out of America, we were failing. No one else had Trump as a leader and if he were not in office those stories, I like to believe, would have been given the time they needed to be known by the world. I don’t think Death To 2020 was meant to encompass everything, just make fun of America because it was and still is a shit show that somehow managed to overshadow an entire global pandemic. I hope for a new day when I will know about what is happening in the world without hearing about my own country’s shortcomings everyday by seemingly every news source. Live from Colorado
@@maxtuning9844 suppose you have a point about it being a self aware parody, but then the title was misleading and inappropriate. Because at the end of the day, the sum of 2020 was far more than America's demise. And I think to focus on a purely that, as opposed to the real humanitarian and world crises, is a little self indulgent. I'd imagine that anyone with perspective on the bigger world issues would be sensibly underwhelmed by this movie. But seeing how people were totally enthralled and captivated and shocked by the programme, I wonder how much they actually know about the other events occurring beyond the west.

By June of 2021, the death toll stands at almost 4 million people and the infected at 181 million people. However, many epidemiologists have raised concerns that these numbers might be largely undercounted
In many places they are likely undercounted but remember this varies from country to country as the requirements for reporting a death are different in different places, so in some countries they could be overcounted.

For everyone who’s made it this far, bless you and your families bc not everyone was so lucky
Watching this it’s hard to believe I lived through it, it looks like a scary movie
you’re more likely to survive 2020 than die statistically though and worse will come
@@memrman8331 okay your point? Is it any less meaningful that you survived 2020, if it isn’t for you that’s cool but I know how to appreciate my blessings
i cried watching this. hope everything gets well in this year.
Born - 1984. I never thought that I would ever experience such an awful global scale crisis in my life time. And all the other tragedies that 2020 brought with it didn't help. 🙁
this video was intense, covid will change the way we see the world on different ways , we are now a part of modern history
This brings back so many memories..
oh wait this was just last yea-
this had no right making me cry so much, such a crazy, surreal year. chills
I like the fact they showed videos of the entire world, and not just America 💕✔
Even if 575000 people have died that's still nothing when you have 400 million just in America
That was the time we will never forget, and it changed our lives forever.
I just ignored it...until it hit home. I lost Mom to it(RIP MOM). I never got to hold or hug her again. I nearly lost my father.
i know its been basically 4 years but its still scary to think about
Imagining my grandkids if I ever get any watching this in horror in history class like I did learning about ww2
every day of 2020 gave me chills but now looking back at it, it gave me more chills
I wish you all a Happy New Year. I'm not sure if this is finally the end of a horrible nightmare, or a sign of things to come. I remember 2019 wasn't a very good year, until compared to 2020.
I wosh it was but sadly 2021 is horrible than 2020 😔
For the first time I understand what the word hope means:
A wish and an effort to imagine a better future even though it seems unimaginable at the moment.
When I have kids I will show them this video when they’re teenagers
RIP to the 1,500,000+ 💔
It is nostalgic kya din the woh bhi. Kisiko kuch idea nhi aage kya hoga bach payenge ya nhi. When ever I remember first lockdown 2020 I get goosebumps.
January 2020: “We are working closely with China and we think this is going to have a very good ending.” 🤦♀️ Oh gosh...
Sadly, your gov really don't care about ordinary lives... they only care about their stock price...
They pretty much ignored every piece of advice from China...
March 2020: It will go away stay calm it will go away
The 2 sentence that was not what God expected
December 31st, 2019: The 2020s will be a promising decade
Also that day: WTF is going on in Wuhan?!
3years later still recovering...202 a year which made humanity realise...develop nd revived humanity
Someone let me know when it's out in theaters.
So chilling. Cried. We've all been through a lot
Imagine in 20 years, us teenagers children watching what we went through…
My last day in school as a schooler was in the end of march. Ive never been in school since as a schooler, only as a visitor and as a freshman from a university
itll be good to come back to this video years down the line see what the outcome was
So many sacrifices behind this. Thank you.
Thanks for recommending this, we will buy this entire roll footage for an upcoming apocalypse movie. The actors did a great job on this one! Although some suggestions, maybe less depressing news?
2020- the year hopes got shattered for many, multiple times.
We are going through history which later would be studied by our future generations
My flesh and bones still shivers watching until this day 😔
Probably the BEST rewind out of any other rewind.
Thing is , there are so many people still suffering effects from Covid 4 years later, I know so many people including myself that have health issues from it to this day but i imagine the same thing happened in the years following the Spanish flu..
I- I can’t find any words to describe how I felt watching this video 😞
Chills ran down my spine just looking at what we have been through.
Soooooo underrated! Such a nicely done video, gave mi chills
Probably the most surreal year in most of our lifetimes.
sadly my dad was one of those million people who died, rest in peace who were killed from this pandemic.
im sorry for your loss
2020 is literally described by year of the Covid-19 pandemic, but now that I think about it, it's had a lot more beatings than I remembered. That said, I hope everyone keeps their spirits up because it will hopefully end. Thanks for the video.
If you think you had it hard you didn’t, imagine being a health worker! We owe it to them
everyone had it hard, some had it harder. I'll admit I was quite lucky.
A year we will never forget.
Friday March 13th 2020 was the day I will never forget. the school ended early for me.
Same bro, I miss the early days of quarantine where it was “scary” now it’s just normal at this point
@@bigfrogfella yeah for real i miss the normal days before the stupid lockdown and quarantine.
@@MilesRobinson2001 but it was a holiday year for all the teenagers/studenst only. Which class are you in
@@offbeatsofficial I was a senior at the time it happened I already graduated in June of 2020.
@@MilesRobinson2001 oh man I feel sorry for your batch, hope it doesn't happen to me
8/28/2022 -- Good work to everyone who has survived this year, and may those who have not rest in peace. We made it together, even if the world is not in the best place. A lot of things are now reopened, many people are now vaccinated, and we are now back to living life as we have. Let's hope that humanity can continue to work towards success and fulfillment as we have attempted for millennia, especially considering we never let 2020 stop our progress.
Got this in my recommended, and I am happy I clicked
Could somebody please tell me the name of the song they used in the background? Especially at around 00:59
I SHAZAM it and the result is "Redemption" by Planet Ronin
This video will make history
2020 feel so unreal still.
This is the longest 7 min of a video I have seen in my life.
I definitely didn't cry no heh......
*cried while watching the video and is still crying*
By June of 2021, the death toll stands at almost 4 million people and the infected at 181 million people. However, many epidemiologists have raised concerns that these numbers might be largely undercounted
In many places they are likely undercounted but remember this varies from country to country as the requirements for reporting a death are different in different places, so in some countries they could be overcounted.
Gosh this was soooooo hard to watch :(! Reopened a wound that wasn’t even closed but I was avoiding looking at
Where's season 2?
This hurt to watch and it gave me chills
this is probably an impossible question to ask, but does anyone know which news outlet the woman is from at 0:39? I've been endlessly searching for that soundbite but without the dramatic music underneath
It's such a shame that people still deny the realities of what happened to us
We could have prevented this if we worked better TOGETHER. And with better leaders.
I am sorry for your loss.
History books in 2019: people used rocks as tools
History books in 2100: people bought LOTS of toilet paper
Wow !! 2020 feels like ages ago and at the same time it feels like it was just last year 😲
i am so proud of us. so proud that we made it to the end of this.
@Basically Al Capone in legal I don’t mean the pandemic, i mean 2020 lol-
My birthday is 19 march and I had no clue what was happening but I still get so emotional by remembering my class singing me happy birthday on zoom It was the first day when the zoom classes started 😢
Here to say that I’ve lived through this whole thing
In June of 2020, I contracted the virus. I didn’t have any symptoms. But once I got that call from the doctor, telling me that I was positive for COVID-19, I was scared. I have many health issues. I am an open-heart surgery survivor (was 4, almost 5yrs old when I had the surgery), I’m anemic, I have lupus, I have RA; I was terrified. But I made it through, surprisingly. This virus is ridiculous and unfair.
Everyone, we are living through history. Right now.
