    I hope a pandemic like this never repeats again.
    As someone that had COVID-19 along with my whole family I can say I don’t wish this on no one. Thanks God we’re all alive and well now but I can’t say the same for a lot of people from my hometown unfortunately. This year has been a big eye opener for me personally and I think it’s time the people finally realize that we’re all humans, one essentially. After witnessing so much pain and suffering the past 10 months I realized that no matter what religion, nation or skin color you are, we all collectively face this invisible threat. Trough all the turmoil and conflicts all over the world I’ve never seen people help and support each other like this crazy year we have behind us. I think we should take this year as a lesson that when shit hits the fan like this, we stick together no matter what. When the shit storm is over we can start blaming and pointing fingers at each other.

      @@Someone-ij6ob I have no idea what business people have fiddling and experimenting with genetics of bats or any other animal for that matter. I don’t trust the media one bit now, not that I did before bit this has gotten way out of hand. The government of my country first told us that the virus is nothing to be afraid of and we should live normally. Two weeks after that they scared us saying that of we don’t practice social distancing our graveyards won’t be big enough. Than they said that the virus os gone just so they could have their bull shit elections, meeting and celebrations. And when finally in the summer my hometown became the became the epicenter of it all they tried to cover up the number of deaths. They even tried to cover the fact they’ve never supplied all the equipment for the medical staff they claimed to have in abundance. And than they had the nerve to say we’re at fault because we didn’t practice social distancing. Life is too precious to be disregarded like that for ones personal gain. I’m afraid that it’s just the beginning of our real issues with the global economic crisis we’re facing.

I was in survival mode with kindergarten distance learning, an increased work load while trying to figure out how make spaces for my son to learn/me to work, making sure we had food and supplies, trying to wrap my head around what was happening while shielding my son from the horror of those first few months. Now I look back and cry. We have all gone through so much. Our lives are forever changed. It’s been interesting to see how people have responded to this trauma. Either denying it completely or being overly cautious to this day (September 2022). A couple months ago I was in the ICU for a week due to organ failure. My nurse was amazing. We chatted and she shared how she worked through the pandemic before deciding to become an ICU nurse. She was clearly traumatized as she explained that everything on TV was true but it was even worse. Now she is assigned 2 patients at a time in the ICU which she said is worlds away from the amount of patients she had on a daily basis. She kept me positive and helped me keep my dignity during a very vulnerable time.

    I was so disappointed by Netflix's "Death to 2020" because it was such a narrow and self-centered overview of the year from the perspective of the West. So much more was happening around the world. Refugees starving and dying in their hundreds stranded on ships; 300 pupils kidnapped by terrorists in Nigeria; kids in india dying from vaccine testing; a deadlier and more contagious strain being found in South Africa; to name but a few. These stories have rarely been given the attention they deserve, yet we hear Trump's name everyday almost everywhere you look

    • @maxtuning9844
      @maxtuning9844 3 года назад +4

      while I agree that it did not encompass news that needed to be addressed and it does more harm than good to silence those other world events, it did a good job at making fun of America because we are the ones that failed hardest and continue to fail harder than most other countries, and that is all anyone every heard out of America, we were failing. No one else had Trump as a leader and if he were not in office those stories, I like to believe, would have been given the time they needed to be known by the world. I don’t think Death To 2020 was meant to encompass everything, just make fun of America because it was and still is a shit show that somehow managed to overshadow an entire global pandemic. I hope for a new day when I will know about what is happening in the world without hearing about my own country’s shortcomings everyday by seemingly every news source. Live from Colorado

    • @meloworx221
      @meloworx221 3 года назад +1

      @@maxtuning9844 suppose you have a point about it being a self aware parody, but then the title was misleading and inappropriate. Because at the end of the day, the sum of 2020 was far more than America's demise. And I think to focus on a purely that, as opposed to the real humanitarian and world crises, is a little self indulgent. I'd imagine that anyone with perspective on the bigger world issues would be sensibly underwhelmed by this movie. But seeing how people were totally enthralled and captivated and shocked by the programme, I wonder how much they actually know about the other events occurring beyond the west.

    It’s crazy because never in a million years did I ever think I would live at a time where going to the grocery store was hard. I remember there was an elderly man who was in this Walmart I was at and all he wanted was sanitary items just like we were there searching for the same thing. There was absolutely nothing. He said “all I wanted were the things that could help safe my life at this point.” He was so sad. That will always stick with me for the rest of my life. It’s crazy that we had to live through a time where there was literally nothing on shelves. I never thought I’d see so much death. I’m sorry to all who have been affected by this. All I know is something has to be done about the way serious viruses like this are detected way sooner. Don’t even get me started on WHO. I feel like they could’ve gotten answers sooner than anyone else if they cared about the health of the world. Idk if this will ever be truly over, but I don’t wanna be in another lockdown/quarantine. Everyone needs to oaky their parts even us. We needa stop panic buying like that. We all gonna go through it together. Y’all ain’t the only ones gonna struggle through it. Literally everyone else is in the same boat.
