The BTR is not designed for that, my friend. You will need to be in the second line, supporting friendly tanks with fire from the 30mm against lightly armoured targets, or try to flank the enemy *without* overextending when you get the APDS round. You are forcing it into a role it is not intended to play - and as such you suffer accordingly. Try to not base-rush, as you will also be spotted on the enemy minimap in real-time: The Centurion/British tank clip is an example - if it had used the hull to turn, you would've been fucked before even getting a shot off.
The name of the BTR's game is careful flanking, scouting, and support.

One thing I notice is that you consistently overextend the moment you get the vehicle capable of doing such thing.
The rule of effectiveness is simple: Always be the SECOND line. First line gets shot at, third line (campers) get bombed. Even if you lose, you usually get to try and clutch against offhand vehicles (Since the best vehicles are already destroyed).

Bro, you made a critical mistake by not taking a high-explosive shell. I'll tell you how much ammunition you need to take on Soviet tanks so that it fits exactly into the automatic loader and that you would be as effective as possible. For tanks of the T72/ t90 family, you need to take only 23 shells (20 sub-caliber and 3 high-explosive. For tanks of the T80 family, there are only 28 (24 sub-caliber, 3 high-explosive, and 1 rocket). Guys, remember once and for all, ALWAYS TAKE HIGH-EXPLOSIVE SHELLS WITH YOU!
And also, given the huge power of high-explosive shells, they can be killed in the roof, for example, if you only see the roof of an enemy tank (no matter leopard, Abrams, etc.), you load a high-explosive shell and shoot it into the roof, preferably closer to the center of the roof, and with a 90% chance you will kill the enemy. And if you see lightly armored vehicles, always charge a high-explosive shell, it will kill 100%.

I have had the BTR-80 for an entire 24 hours as of posting this comment, and I have only managed to get a single kill with it. Gaijin, why the hell did you send it to 7.0, because it is nothing but pain
I was so happy when I unlocked the BTR then was so sad when I've brought into like 15 matches and I have 2 kills with it. The most useless vehicle in dunder.

The BTR80 is perhaps the worst vehicle at this BR. Like its over 7 and it has a slow cannon, bad traverse, no stabilizer, no rangefinder, no armor, speed is there but it could be better and its pen and spall damage is abysmal. This vehicle is not very good
