I have the green swords in my outside tub. Not sure if they have fry. Also have gold mollies and they have a ton of fry. Hard rain and thunderstorm right now. All natural for those guys. Thanks Andrew!
Bob Caylor's Fish Hobby Thanks for watching Bob! How many names do you have on here? I may do an outdoor feature next summer. A little tough with the brand new baby. Hope you get lots of fry in your tubs!
Just the one name. I started out with Bob Caylor. Switched to The Other BOB aka Bob Caylor as a nod to Bob Steenfott, and with thoughts of posting some amateur vids, modified it again to reflect my fish keeping. In fact, there is a very short clip of my Variatus and Mollies on the channel.
When you say unheated what temp do you get down to in winter.my platys and sword tails live in temps that get down to 12 degrees thought winter and up to 32 degrees in summer ...i live in south Australia
Andrew Piorkowski yes gets me as well. He is farm raised I'm sure it breaks my heart it hurts the genius of the species. As far fish keeping goes there really is not much here in Northeast Vermont.
Melissa Wedin You could look into the American Livebearer Association. The person in charge, Leslie Dick, is out in Connecticut. Many people ship as well! Hope you can get your hands on something amazing!
@@AndrewPiorkowski Cool! I really love wild type livebearers in general. Variatus are my no. 1 fav.. In Australia pures and rare livebearers are few and far between or non-existent or mixed/crossbreeds/hybrids. Even normal wild type guppies are hard to find now...I've been to dozens of shops to only get 20 normal looking guppies (with only 4 boys)...you might only get 1 in a tank of hundreds! Cheers!
I have always loved the livebearers as well. I still go into the local chain pet stores to look at their domestic strains of platy. Even with all the rare livebearers in the fish room, I still love keeping these. Thanks for watching!
Today was my personal favorite because I'm a swordtail fanatic! I have kohaku, sanke, and longfins,I absolutely love the Black Platy all of them actually but I've never seen that black with the orange eyes😍😍😍👍🌿🍃🌱😁
Absolutely terrific video!!! I'm just a domestic keeper with my two kids picking out the typical Mickey Mouse platies and red/marigold wag swords. I almost got my hands on some sanshoku swordtails but it looks like that fell through. Great stuff Andrew!
BuckAnEar69 Aquatics Thanks man, I keep a number of hard to find species but I have always loved swords and platies. Good luck! There are a lot of spectacular varieties out there!
Lovely fish mate . I'm still quite new to fish breeding I'm breeding highfin varaitus kohakko swordtails. And some guppies and white clouds . Thanks for the video I just subbed👍✌
I am absolutely stunned by those wild type orange swords (you say they are domestic? never seen them anywhere before like that) - any chance you have a breeding trio I could buy? Nice to know my green swords aren't the only ones that eat algae. Also - thank you for pointing out that the xiphophorous don't need heaters under most conditions (mine get as cool as 68F overnight in the winter) ON TO THE NEXT! (Ghosthunters reference?)
Fantastic! For the tanks that you say are "unheated/no heater", what temperature range are those tanks? And where did you find the Ilyodon whitei? We would love to raise some of those! Thanks again!
The temps are ambient to the house, anywhere between 66 and 72 F. Actually found the Ilyodon females at a local pet store. Wish I had more info about them. The males came from a friend. I am breeding them so if you check back in the spring, I may have some available.
Hello i also love live bearer.........i just want to know is that how to groww the fries in uniform size.....the fries that born in my aquarium grows in ddifference size some grows pretty soon but some grows slow why.........
Those variatus I love them I have a few….
Super!
You should add any spare wild variatus males you have and place them in with your domestic variatus strain.
Your tanks and fish are just gorgeous.
Jad Orsey Thank you so much! I am glad people are liking them!
All are lovely fish
Thank you very much! I can get lost watching any one of the tanks!
Any new videos on swords?
I always love to see your amazing fish!!

3:45 are Corydoras paleatus (peppered not panda) in case anyone looks them up
Misanthropic Mammal I have Corydoras panda in a different tank. Did I say panda in the video?
You did or your accent is such that I can't differentiate panda from peppered :)
Misanthropic Mammal OMG, I am so embarrassed! Thanks for catching that!
Nothing to be embarrassed about, only pointed it out on the off chance a new hobbyist wanted to look it up.
Really enjoying your content. :)
I really love the green guys.
Melissa Wedin I love the greens too! Basically wild type (my favorite) but a domestic strain. The spotting is what gets me! Thanks for watching!

Again.... great info and variety. thank you for sharing! - Little Bobby
Xiphophorus! Probably my favorite genus. That black variatus is so cool. Love the green swordtails.
They both are pretty sweet! Super cool genus!
Nice! I love Variatus Platies, but those Green Swords are so friggin' cool! Love it! Cheers.
Green swords have always been a favorite of mine. Before I got into goodeids, swordtails were my go-to fish. Thanks for watching!

They are so beautiful!!!
Do you plant your guppy grass or just let it float ?
Beautiful! My love for fish started at age 11 with platies, so they have a special place in my heart!

Beautiful fish as always! My favorites are your green helleri
Bradford Aquatics I was so happy happy to find the original trio. Thanks for watching!

Eddy Ortiz Thanks my friend! I have always loved swords as well. That black platy is pretty special, hard to believe she was born in one of my tanks!

where did you get your xiphophorus pygmaeus
I actually had X. continens in this video. They came from my local fish club auction, the Chicago Livebearer Society.
Super!
