Except the released game isn't complete and you only get one route. plus you need a £1000 PC to get it to run smoothly. DTG again have messed up with performance and choice in the game.
I'm glad to hear from an actual conductor that this is accurate. That's great! I've loved trains all my life, since I was a little boy, though I've never worked around them. I pre-ordered this as soon as it came available!
Unbelievable! Having run before and going through an actual startup procedure, I can tell you that this for sure feels real! And to think that this is just beta. Hopefully they fix the sounds for the SD40-2. As it stands, it sounds more like an SD60 or something in idle.
I cant wait for the game to come out...I was a conductor working for CSX and they really got alot of things on the engine correct and also how the train car act when they are being pulled...now the breaking was a little strange because I was not sure of the speed he was at but it stopped real quick in a little bit of distance....which I ca tell you it will take longer than that...But overall it was very real like and I cant wait to see the finished product.....Great Job!!!!
Yes the braking is really quick. Especially the airbrake. It needs tweaking but I was happy how the independent stopped it pretty decent. I think DTG is heading in the right direction with this.
This is beautiful. I've wanted a train simulator like this since train simulators became a thing. I've worked in the railroad for a few years, and man, did Dovetail nail this.
One thing I might suggest to the developers is if you haven't done so already. Create the option for the player to manually lace the train up. Meaning manually connecting air hoses and angle cock operation. Other than that, I am impressed with it! keep up the good work.
It would be nice in the real world that the air hoses automagically connected themselves when the cars coupled, but alas. I suppose you can't simulate black ice.
This gave me the chills its so real... IM NOT OLD ENOUGH YET TO DRIVE A TRAIN SO THIS IS THE NEXT BEST THING (I can drive a train as long as it's started for me!)
multiplayer would be nice to have someone doing all the switching and coupling rail and lines for you telling you when to stop and such over a radio!! hint hint
MP will be coming. im not sure if its on release day or soon after it. but TSW will have it. i dont know how it will be. like if it will be the same as SP and you can just roam around, helping others, joining others in their trains or even giving them a push. thats what i hope it will be like and what i think it will be like. either way thats what it should be like lol
Off Topic : I remember a space ship simulator, which had as many buttons as this game does to control a space ship, but it was quite a long time before, I kind of forgot the name. Any of you SimKings able to recognize which game I'm talking about ? One more thing, the space ship didn't have any windows on its cockpit, its cockpit was like the one in TitanFall ! Completely solid, but becomes transparent when powered on (more like a TV screen).
SOU6900 well it stalled on me twice and both were right after a stop. I took off rather quickly because I wanted to see the reaction of the train cars when they were jerked. Shortly after the engine stalled and i was just coasting. I thought i may have accidentally hit a key that may have turned it off but i didn't. So i go out of the cab (while im moving lol) and go into the engine compartment, prime her up, then start it again. Finally functioning again I proceed to take the mountain climb. I stop near a siding to try something, i disconnect the train, and i go on ahead about a mile. Reverse and it stalls shortly after recoupling the train. Do the same thing again turn it back on and away i go. This time when I get close to the end of the beta destination, i come to a stop exactly right before the Nav point, it makes the sound that I arrived but it doesn't end the session. I am wondering to myself, dis it do this because i decoupled the train again on the way there and i didnt bring it with me? So I try to reverse to go pickup the train again, nothing, so im like ok forget it. I go into the helper engine, start it up and proceed to reverse and it doesn't budge. I had it decoupled and brakes free and everything. Wouldn't budge. It made the sound like it was accelerating but did not move even with brakes released. Bug? Possibly! Fun? Oh hell yes. I never had so much fun operating a freight train in a simulator. I cant wait to operate scenic steam excursions when this is released.
Dustin Lehman I'll have to look into this sim but I doubt by old 9500GT graphics card could handle the game. In reality a diesel electric stalling would probably indicate a issue with the load regulator or something else in the load control system.
Dustin Lehman I'll have to look into this sim but I doubt by old 9500GT graphics card could handle the game. In reality a diesel electric stalling would probably indicate a issue with the load regulator or something else in the load control system.
I have a 16 gb, GeForce 970, 2.TB hard drive, 128 ssid, 4.0 ghz processor speed and liquid cooled. can i use the train in this video with TS 2016 or is it strickley for 2017? thank you for your reply.
this looks awesome. my only concern is how it will work I. conjunction to track ir. hopefully there will be a way to navigate with mouse look, then have the track ir kick in when you actually sit down.
Two questions, what would be some good PC specs to run the game and will this CSX addon work with Train Sim 2016 or do I need 2017? Thank you , great video.
Even the beta did not run too good with my GTX 960 SSC. I don't know what to recommend sadly. It may run on medium for me hopefully. This game is separate from Train Simulator.
Sorry to bother you again but if this game is separate from TS is possible that I can buy just the train your video's are showing (CSX) without having to purchase anything else? Thank you for your reply's.
Are you a conductor lol, you started that thing up like a pro. I saw like 20 people on twitch trying to figure out how to reset after tripping the alerter
Since this game is designed to be as realistic as possible, the author probably looked up the procedure to start this train online. I found the operators manual including starting procedures (section 3) for the SD40-2 locomotive at www.kirara.co.uk/info/SD40%20-%20Operator's%20Manual/
Nope, I just know which switches to touch. Alerter is easy, after 2 minutes you put the airbrake handle all the way to right. Then reverser in neutral, and pull the airbrake handle all the way to release. PCS light should go off.
wow freaking amazing ! I cant help but wonder, why is a train so complex to drive , where as a car is as simple as it can get ? Can we just put all the controls in one place so that you dont have to move around so much, and you know, reduce the number of button switches ? (I mean in real life, not ingame !!!)
From the main menu, hit services, on foot, weather, spawn at the Cumberland turntable. There will be a locomotive to the right and behind the roundhouse.
How are you getting that sort of fps? I have a 4Ghz 16-core with 16Gb of RAM and a GTX1070 and the game struggles to get 9fps at 1600x900. I can't even run at 1920x1080. All my other UE4 games run maxed out at 60fps without any problem. I don't know what DTG have done to UE4 but it doesn't run worth a damn on my machine. So I'm really curious to know how many cores and cards you have stuffed in your rig to get that smooth an experience. I gave up in the end because the lag and FPS were simply unusable for me.
argh, I can't stand that blank non drawn part about 20 feet ahead of you, then its showing drawn again after about 10 more feet. Was that cuz of the angle of the sun, or is it a problem with the LOD graphic engine?
I bought this game for PS4, this may be a crazy idea, but could u do a tutorial on proper train driving, braking, acceleration? Thank you, and awesome video
Nice, thanks for this overview of start-up. There aren't any tips for train-sim noobs yet, are there? How did you come up with the start-up sequence? Real life experience or ... ?
Well usually all the black switches in the panel are the ones to touch along with the battery knife switch and 3 switches on the control stand. Might need this: www.rr-fallenflags.org/manual/sd40-2i.html Section 2
You're gonna have a heck of a time slowing down if you don't couple the brake lines and also the cars could disconnect if you don't lock the coupler again.
Really, I hate it when people say I have a $1000 component, $1000 component and $1000 component PC, will I be able to run this? LOL! Ok just kidding. The game hasn't been optimised, but Squrrel was running this on an lone GTX 1080 and it looks absolutely fine. So if you SLI GTX 970 is comparable to a 1080 then you should also be fine, but I would reserve judgement until the game is closer to release.
Looks great, however on my setup I have really nasty black shadows that are almost like oil slick. The game runs really smooth and I have a Geforce 970 GT but them shadows are horrible
Yea, that's why I never run high shadows. I run Medium. This video was taken on a GTX 960 running on I think Med. settings while it was in Beta. I got a 1060 to run it now. It's mostly on Med. - High stuff.
I have two question first I have a i3 6 GB of RAM (memory) and 1gb of video is that good to run this game. and the other one how much does this game cost and we're or how can I get it. can I get it on steam!???!!
What... The... Frick! Why have I not heard about this until this very second?? This L.. I'm.. Like.. What.. How are buttons.. You have engine sounds too?? Shut the front door! (I know, you actually did that xD)
It doesn't lag as bad in the yard compared to the summit.PC Specs: Intel Core i5-4690k 3.5ghz EVGA GTX 960 SSC 2GB 8GB RAM Windows 8.1 64bit 2x 1TB WD Black HDDs
TrainSimUSA i get maybe 44fps in the yard but my specs are higher than yours and i dont get that smooth playback... i7 4790K, 16GB RAM, GTX980ti, Samsung 840evo SSD, Asus Hero VII
No multi core support, no proper lighting & shadows, abysmal FPS, tracks are drawing 30 m from the train on ultra settings, wipers don't work, snow is falling in tunnels, physics are all over the place, bad braking mechanics, instrumentation doesn't work, no map, frequent game crashes... i could sit here and count failures and bugs better part of the evening but what is the point? Only good thing is actually concept that you can interact with a locomotive, and walk around. And yes i know it is beta but it shouldn't be called even pre alpha in this state. Do you really believe that they will be able to fix all this in less then 2 months for Feb. release? I would love to be wrong on this, but i think they will fail.
NKato So is calling someone kid how you insult someone? If you are gonna Beta test a game you should get the beta free so you could give feed back. It was just another way so DTG could be make more money, because overpricing DLC's wasn't bad enough. Their whole company is a scam.
I've waited my whole life for a Sim like this to exist. This is going to be so awesome. I can't wait to give my salary over to this sim.
Miami FFA who said he'd buy the dlc's? I think you are just being a dick to him for wanting to buy this game.
40 for a route, 20 for a locomotive.
Pfft don't get into HO scale then.
Maybe just a tad overpriced, but I usually wait for sales to get things.
Now THIS is what a train simulator should be. Can't wait!
Agreed.
Harman Motor Works
This is the cities:skylines of train simulators.
Except it's made by the same company haha
Except the released game isn't complete and you only get one route. plus you need a £1000 PC to get it to run smoothly. DTG again have messed up with performance and choice in the game.
As a conductor for csx I can tell you this simulator is very accurate!! I am amazed they went into this much detail with it!
I'm surprised CSX let them on the engines. :3
TrainSimUSA..That is true to..they are kinda picky about that stuff but as long as the engine wasn't moving then I guess they were cool with it!
I'm glad to hear from an actual conductor that this is accurate. That's great! I've loved trains all my life, since I was a little boy, though I've never worked around them. I pre-ordered this as soon as it came available!
Finally a train sim that is not only push forward click 2 buttons and go in a straight line :)
Unbelievable! Having run before and going through an actual startup procedure, I can tell you that this for sure feels real! And to think that this is just beta. Hopefully they fix the sounds for the SD40-2. As it stands, it sounds more like an SD60 or something in idle.
Whoops, missed your comment Hamhari. Sounds better than the Kuju SD40-2s.
No problem. I know things get busy. That's for sure though.
after watching this dovetail train sim feels like call of duty
this is also by dovetail to...this is the "upgrade" they have been talking about for a few years now...

It's like upgrading from GTA San Andreas to GTA V.

Thanks for all the comments, likes, and views. I enjoy responding to them.
Awesome work, look forward to playing it someday!
TrainSimUSA realistic
their sound engineer deserves some kind of medal
not for the bell...lmao
True.
Yeah seen the big hype for it on train sim but didn't expect it to be like this
That start up sounds so good! I'm getting special feelings for this game...
Its surely better than the kuju sounds.
Sounds could be better, but this certainly looks promising
It does.
Wurlitzer 153
What's wrong with the sounds?
Glenn Small OTG Video Productions
Yeah, the breaking seems a bit too easy, but it has plenty of work left to be put into it.
if they ever include steam locomotives and their starting procedure, that would be one hell of a long start up and likely a full scenario on its own.
I don't want to think about it.
4 hour long scenario, on basically sitting there watching the engine. Probably could be used by museums for training purposes.
Corbin Young
Train sim world: steam trains (AKA coal shoveling simulator)
This is beautiful. I've wanted a train simulator like this since train simulators became a thing. I've worked in the railroad for a few years, and man, did Dovetail nail this.
Nailed it, except for a few things.
This is beyond cool! I mean the realism is amazing! I would love more videos like these :)
See what I can do..There's not much more to show though.
TrainSimUSA that's alright :) I just love all of the intricate details
Now THIS is what we need for zeppelins. If they can do this for trains they can do this for zeppelins too...
One thing I might suggest to the developers is if you haven't done so already. Create the option for the player to manually lace the train up. Meaning manually connecting air hoses and angle cock operation. Other than that, I am impressed with it! keep up the good work.
Has been suggested.
Awesome!
My only real complaint is that bell..everything else is damn near spot on!
Mine too.
It would be nice in the real world that the air hoses automagically connected themselves when the cars coupled, but alas. I suppose you can't simulate black ice.
Would save some time, that's for sure.
It would also eliminate the need for trainmen to step between the cars, removing perhaps the most dangerous aspect of railroading. Hmm ...
Better than link and pin system a long time ago.
conductors or carman
This would be great to play with friends as a crew, or you could even have people spread out throughout a system, manning towers and everything.
Yup.
This gave me the chills its so real... IM NOT OLD ENOUGH YET TO DRIVE A TRAIN SO THIS IS THE NEXT BEST THING (I can drive a train as long as it's started for me!)
It's darn near prototypical.
Great game. Still waiting for truck game made like this ;)
multiplayer would be nice to have someone doing all the switching and coupling rail and lines for you telling you when to stop and such over a radio!! hint hint
Yea its fun in Run8 when you got a buddy.

Finally a train sim with working circuit breakers! Wonder if they also have it simulate things like a locked axle or engine overheating.
SOU6900 well i do know you can make the engine stall, i had to manually restart the engine twice after two stops.
Dustin Lehman How do you make it stall and did the No Power light and alarm come on?
SOU6900 well it stalled on me twice and both were right after a stop. I took off rather quickly because I wanted to see the reaction of the train cars when they were jerked. Shortly after the engine stalled and i was just coasting. I thought i may have accidentally hit a key that may have turned it off but i didn't. generally you'd want to leave the generator field switch off unless you are at the controls. reverser out, isolated and gen field off :)
Can't wait until the full version is out
Indeed!
thank you very much, keep up the great train videos
Ok boys better start learning for that train engineer degree if you want to play this game. I like
Make a nice simulator IF they get the physics right. They're not right at the moment.
Let's hope the horn and bell get better, and lets hope it's just as easy to customize or even easier to customize for this game.
The file system is complicated.
***** I can already tell it is gonna be way harder to customize things in this game...
This needs VR and the VIVE
Hehe. Yea.
Yes We need VR
i Have one V1 Rotate
So far so good, But I really recommend waiting until the Full Version gets release.
I doubt that I can wait. I'd rather play it the beta.
Hopefully will be optimised in the full version; however, we are taking Dovetail here!
Yea but its hard to notice the low frames in the video.
This game is gorgeous.
I have a 16 gb, GeForce 970, 2.TB hard drive, 128 ssid, 4.0 ghz processor speed and liquid cooled.
can i use the train in this video with TS 2016 or is it strickley for 2017? thank you for your reply.
Don't take my word for it, but it should do nicely.
I'll be very curious to see what can be done with steam engines... such as oilarounds and rod tapping...
No thanks. A diesel locomotive is enough work.
Fuelling while the engine is running? It's very unsafe...
It's alright. Diesel isn't as explosive as gasoline. You can google that.
Any chance to show some old steam train's gameplay? And what about parts failing and fixing modes?
There wasn't s steam engine to play with in the beta. I didn't notice anything failing, and I have no idea if it would be in the game.
How do you play this? I have the TS pioneer addition???
Well the beta was from Dec. 10 to Dec. 21. It's too late.
they gotta make the walking audio better, it sounds like walking on soil when actually you're walking on the train
This is the beta version, not the release version. It was fixed in the release version.
this looks awesome. my only concern is how it will work I. conjunction to track ir. hopefully there will be a way to navigate with mouse look, then have the track ir kick in when you actually sit down.
Yea, would be cool.
Nope. The CSXT is for TSW only.
What, no opening of the engine cocks and rolling it over to make sure there's no water in the cylinders?
lol! This is pretty good.
Would have been nice to do that, the game doesn't have those modeled. :(
Is the Santa fe going to be in there?
wow freaking amazing ! I cant help but wonder, why is a train so complex to drive , where as a car is as simple as it can get ? Can we just put all the controls in one place so that you dont have to move around so much, and you know, reduce the number of button switches ? (I mean in real life, not ingame !!!)
It would be a pain in the butt to make it compact.
How did you get a cold and dark setup? All locomotives I walk into is already running.
From the main menu, hit services, on foot, weather, spawn at the Cumberland turntable. There will be a locomotive to the right and behind the roundhouse.
Thanks!

Nikola16789 yes, this is more like a preview
There's a hump yard down the way. But you can't get close to it, yet.
How are you getting that sort of fps? I have a 4Ghz 16-core with 16Gb of RAM and a GTX1070 and the game struggles to get 9fps at 1600x900. I can't even run at 1920x1080. No idea, and its way inferior to yours xD. I don't think they got around to the performance yet though.
Do You have a time frame when the finished product will be ready for purchase?
Suppose to be sometime in Feb. but I think it will be pushed back. Of course, I could be wrong.
So is CSX going to be the main railroad on this simulator?
Hard to say at this point. I really think the other class 1s should be added as well. Maybe a British route or two.
Is it still possible to get this? :( I used to work for CSX as a conductor and I'd love to at least enjoy something like this.
No, sorry.
TrainSimUSA thanks for the answer, any idea as to when it might be released to the general public
Matt Patt It’s available now on Steam. Train Sim World 2020
when is this out for us this is best and unbelievable
argh, I can't stand that blank non drawn part about 20 feet ahead of you, then its showing drawn again after about 10 more feet. Was that cuz of the angle of the sun, or is it a problem with the LOD graphic engine?
LOD most likely.
this attention to detail needs to be in America truck simulator!
All games need this.
I bought this game for PS4, this may be a crazy idea, but could u do a tutorial on proper train driving, braking, acceleration? Thank you, and awesome video
You can find that information the web.
Thank`s but how did you start this szenario? Did I miss the free roam?
Edgar
Main Menu, Services, On foot, weather, cumberland yard fuel. :)
Thank You
How do you get this game?? It said on a website that it would be in my steam library on 8th december... but nope.. no game here..
Send them a ticket here. dovetailgames.kayako.com/Tickets/Submit
***** Thanks :)
No problem.
You're gonna have a heck of a time slowing down if you don't couple the brake lines and also the cars could disconnect if you don't lock the coupler again.
Suppose to be automatically connected. Meaning the pin should have dropped down after coupling. Almost certain the sim does this all automatically.
Really hoping that Dovetail gets their horns in order this time around. So tired of having non looping horns on $30 addons..
Hopefully.
Only one word: "Amazing".-
Damn it's a lot better than I expected, didn't they say it's also coming out on xbox one?
In Feb. of 2017.
I've got this sim but I don't have this scenario. Is it dlc or is it custom made for you?
Its in the services menu.
love the demo when will it be released
Feb of 2017 hopefully.
Looks pretty good, but you need a conductor. Is it available for Mac or PC only?
PC, Xbox One as far as I know.
When will this be available and where can it be purchased? Excellent video
February of 2017 and on Steam.
Thank you very much, it looks great and the most realistic of all that are out there.
I have an i7 4790k, 2x gtx 970. Will I be able to run this game just fine?
eh atm, its not optimized. I get anywhere between 15fps and 40fps. 30-40 in the yard. 25-15 while out on the mainline.
Oh, well. It's in pre-alpha so hopefully that will be fixed.
Cullen Tabaczynski *beta

So you drive off leaving air bleeding from your system do you?
Technically yes but the game don't simulate that yet.
MelioraCogito
It's still too new.
I mean, they only have one train so far!
They have a geep and a AC44 but we didn't get to see those.
you have a new subscriber
is this going to be on steam?
Yes.
Is it possible to open all the engine cabinet doors?
Sadly no.
That's awesome! When did this game come out? it says railworks 2009 down below but I don't think this is it?
***** That makes sense
Its not, YT tried to guess but failed. :p

Sometime in February of 2017. About 2 months from now.
Alright thanks :)
Sorry, just one more question with the specs of my laptop can a run the minimum requirements for TRAIN SIMULATOR 2017,!? And is it sold on steam
What... The... Frick! Why have I not heard about this until this very second??
This L.. I'm.. Like.. What.. How are buttons.. You have engine sounds too?? Shut the front door!
(I know, you actually did that xD)
Cool vid,but the engineer dosent have to get out of his loco,in real life,.They have workers that do the switching and other stuff.
Yup. No MP functionality yet though.
Well you can envision the too many chiefs and not enough Indians scenario playing out with that one...
I hope they add animated yard workers,Multiplayer would be stupid..
MP is fun at least it was on run8.
Maybe lan multiplayer would be cool, friends only multi, otherwise there will be too many chiefs and not enough indians.
Can u make a game like trucks simulater but like this buy ur own train pick up loads and deliver them for money
How can I play the beta?
Uh well the 21st was the last day soo.. you'll have to wait till February.
Cool video!
Thanks.
this is very promising but i want to see old train with mechanic probleme or electronic can be nice and this gonna add more realistic for a sim game
It would be nice if stuff did break :3
TrainSimUSA
And it would be interesting to see unique locomotives with unorthodox interior design.
Amazing graphics and gameplay! Unfortunately I've only got an Xbox one! Rumours going around it's going to be on Xbox in February!? Is that true?
It should be but I still think the release might get delayed.
How much is it, how long do I have to wait and where can I get it? This looks freaking AWESOME!
Feb. of 2017. Price unknown.
Ok thanks!
looks good, but still has several mistakes in it. But it's beta, so let's hope for the best
Yup.
How do you not get lag? What's your specs?
It doesn't lag as bad in the yard compared to the summit.PC Specs:
Intel Core i5-4690k 3.5ghz
EVGA GTX 960 SSC 2GB
8GB RAM
Windows 8.1 64bit
2x 1TB WD Black HDDs
TrainSimUSA i get maybe 44fps in the yard but my specs are higher than yours and i dont get that smooth playback...
i7 4790K, 16GB RAM, GTX980ti, Samsung 840evo SSD, Asus Hero VII
Dustin Lehman
Throwing shit at the wall here, but, maybe it doesn't like SSD? I got nothing.
Why no steam locomotives?
No idea. The game is in its infancy. I guess sometime down the road we'll see one.
inb4, you can park your train, have maccas, then just drive away in a car. (i'd buy that kappa)
Do you ever pass any trainspotters?
What do you mean? like in the game?
TrainSimUSA yeah, that would add realism. They are everywhere. Especially Crewe...
Might want to make that suggestion at their forums. But if you don't I will.
Does anybody know if this will have any kind of Multiplayer / Co-op? That would be great for this.
I think its possible, but we don't know yet.
Hope that VR is supported.
Its not currently supported but the potential is there.
Nope, it'll be pushed back, I think.
if I get this game do I have to go through orientation
Yes.
¿ is a free roam ?
One of the two places to free roam so yes.
thank you
you forgot to put the coupleing lock on so you drove of without the wagons
No it definitely coupled.
***** oh ok
I wanted the beta but I didn't want to pay for it, you should have to pay for a beta to test it...
You said should.....
***** It was a mistake damn it...
There is an edit button you know...
Oh look, another kid who thinks he should get free betas...he's been conditioned by all those free closed-beta-tests held by the MMORPG companies.
NKato So is calling someone kid how you insult someone? If you are gonna Beta test a game you should get the beta free so you could give feed back. It was just another way so DTG could be make more money, because overpricing DLC's wasn't bad enough. Their whole company is a scam.
Need different cameras thou "outside view" would be nice =P
Their are head out views, as well as moving around the cab.
Well, I was thinking more along the line of "chase(looking down) 360 view" like when you play GTA V for example.
***** I'll play the beta, haven't had a chance yet as im at work lol
Xbox One version coming out too, check the website.
crapdice what's the website I wanna see this for myself ?
train-simulator.com/the-future-of-train-simulation/
There you go.
crapdice I'm keen as heck for the Xbox One version!
crapdice
Xbox 1 would freeze with this level of details lol.
PC RULES!!
So..how you get in on this and stuff
Had to have the TS17 pioneer's edition to be able to participate in the beta.
what if nothing happens when i pull start engine to PRIME?
Did you check the Isolation Switch? If not re-check all switches again. Don't forget the three on the control stand.
TrainSimUSA yes, it’s not working after emergency cut off, maybe there is some procedure needed for restart loco
Hmm. Did you center the reverser? It's the only thing I can think of that would stop it from starting up.
