Kyle is always so reserved and not dramatic/impressed looking when exciting things happen but that definitely changed in this video. It's awesome seeing him so excited running that mr2 down the track. That mr2 is a beast great job on the build and props to humble and 4piston for taking absolutely amazing care of Kyle and the car.

I was at the w.c.f. and got the opportunity to stop and talk to Alex the first day on wensday. They were still unpacking he took the time to stop and talk to one of his fan's and shake my hand... we talked about him hopefully just running his personal-best little did he know that he would break a world record I'm so happy for him and the team. If you watch the Nov 6, 2019 episode and jump to 5:05 he describes how he is running his staging break to the Rear Tires. It is used to pre-load the drive line for the rear tires to stop from shocking the trans and axles. It is not a line lock that would be used to lock the front tires for a burnout.
@@craig2963 I'm glad someone here knows what he's talking about hahaha. This car does not have a line lock, even though it would be a good idea. It's staging brake ran to the back wheels to hold him in the staging beams and preload the drivetrain. Just like almost every other fast stick shift car.
Its a normal handbrake to preload the drivetrain, not a line locker. The reason he's pulling it near the end of the burnout is to prevent a sudden shock when the tires heat up and grip up, so its kind of like a secondary clutch between the tires and the rear end so he can use it as a buffer to ease into the load of the tires grabbing by using rear brakes to simulate fading in the traction before the tires actually grab as they heat up. I believe it’s to prevent “creep” so he doesn’t red light.... basically a manual line lock that can be used during burnout AND staging ... and they can be routed to the front brakes for rwd cars or rear brakes for fwd cars... I personally prefer a line lock wired to a solenoid but manual or electric, they do the same task

Line lock,2step,trans pressure sensor and wheelie sensor and the MR2 will run bottom 8s no problem. Congrats on the PB Kyle and we can't wait to see more of the car soon

It's great to see you all over come the problems from transmissions to axles and even just to get a 1000 hp out of a 4 cylinder is awesome. Keep up the great work Kyle and all of you guy's.
Not taking anything away from this car because these results this early are super impressive, but 7’s are a long way away. Realistically with a better 60 foot and getting the gearing figured out I see this being a solid mid 8’s car.

I am just going off of this being like the 2nd time it has made a pass and there is sooo much time that can be made up just by not short shifting or actually launching.

Yes, he is. Its a normal handbrake to preload the drivetrain, not a line locker. The reason he's pulling it near the end of the burnout is to prevent a sudden shock when the tires heat up and grip up, so its kind of like a secondary clutch between the tires and the rear end so he can use it as a buffer to ease into the load of the tires grabbing by using rear brakes to simulate fading in the traction before the tires actually grab as they heat up. Its kind of like preloading a front wheel drive car at the line, except in this case you are easing the blow from the tires spinning to grabbing, instead of from not moving at all into grabbing. He can use it to preload the drivetrain before the burnout starts, also, or to preload fro a launch... the same way it works on a front wheel drive. It works for preloading the driveline for both entering and exiting the burnout, because there are sudden jolts to the driveline as the tires both enter and exit the process of breaking traction. But since there is a water box, you don't really need it for the beginning of the burnout quite as much as you do at the line. The way you preload the driveline on a launch is much different though, because the beginning part involves letting out the clutch a tiny bit and holding the car in place with the brake, but it's still just a rear hand brake. Better to wear the shit out of the brakes and the clutch than to snap cold parts that cost thousands of dollars. He could also use a line locker too, but that would be set up for the foot brake with a switch to turn off the rears only for burnouts.
