As a vanilla WoW player who also played Tabletop Warhammer Fantasy, Warhammer Online was a dream come true. I absolutely loved it, though imho as a mass-pvp game all the CC destroyed the pvp experience. I remember playing world PvP was just getting knockbacked constantly
Just started the game the other day and by far the best MMO out there right now. Nothing else feels more freeing and fun, community based, and MTX-free. It's not perfection but its damn good and very fun.
If this game’s PvP had been ready to handle the massive amount of people going at it in world PvP the first weeks, would have exploded for a while The lag and desync was so so so bad 😢
Agreed, that was my experience at release. Had an absolute blast leveling up and engaging in small scale pvp, but then when I reached the high level zones, there were so many people and the servers just couldn't handle it.
I was there on opening and the RVR and scenarios were awesome. Not too many people, just enough. I think the best complaint in the first 1-2 weeks was the clunky graphics, which they fixed in a week or two.
I think one of my favourite aspects of Warhammer ROR is the fact there is both instanced and open world pvp zones that people actively take part in, something about low-mid level pvp is just very engaging for me. (probably because I am bad)

IMO this RvR is still one of the best, it is not balanced for 1vs1 duels, it is more balanced in group play. And it is one of the few MMORPGs where a Tank make sense and can guard his teammates so they take less damage, what makes it easier to heal when huge damage is taken. That makes Battles longer and more interessting. How I loved my Chopper while getting Guarded and healed. Killing machine :D Shaman heal I loved too, very unique and cool looking Gits :D

The problem with the original game imo was the way it segregated the community. Between the 4 tiers of rvr lakes and the race variants and scenarios, it basically split people up into about 12 different areas in addition to those questing etc. It was a great game but hideously flawed in this regard. The way return to reckoning allows you to port to the active rvr lake is how the original game should have done it. Also shouldn’t have added scenarios in until max level imo. Way more valuable having those people grinding rvr than scenarios.
I play RoR since 2016 and never even thought about locking Scenarios to T4, that would actually be awesome because t1-t3 has always been impossible to balance

It is a shame because the game could have been massive. ROR is trying but it just will never have the resources to make it as great as it should have been.
I picked this up a couple of years ago... no disk drive, just wanted the mini. Looks like it was on point of warhammer fant, seems cool. Also the real WOW killer is Ed, Edd and Eddie online
I remember playing this and age of conan while off from WOW This blew me away, public quests and the tome were great but the fluidity of the cast bar, action bar was years beyond WOW so it felt "bad"
Back in the days I waited for this game so bad it hurt. I loved it but I had to stop playing after a little while because of financial stability issues. :( Maybe I'll join the fight again someday. :)
might not be dead, but it's pretty sick. you can zerg only till a certain point, than you're out. Also population is getting lower and lower as we speack.
A lot of what gave races and classes their identity and flare in warhammer online got directly translated into star wars the old republic.. sadly another mmo that turned out to be pearls before swine
its a huge problem with todays mmos, they are not social at all anymore, you dont sit down and chat in fornt of a dungeon, you dont chat in a dungeon, you dont make friends, there is nothing of that in modern mmos anymore, its all about battlepasses, p2w shops, timegating and extract as much time and money out of the player as much as possible. the golden age of mmos was truly the golden age of mmos.
I think the mirror system really hurt this game. it puts off a lot of people and did. No one wants to play a weaker version of a class, even if their faction has a better version of another class.
When I gave RoR a whirl a few years back, I was pleasantly surprised to find that they'd done some extra class balancing. The mirrors feel more equal, and the more egregiously OP builds were brought down to where they're no longer fun-killing nukes, but still feel powerful. (Yes, I'm talking about YOU, Bright Wizard.)
I've played on WoW private servers that had worse population; it's not ideal but it's not the end of the world either. There are enough people, but more would be great especially NA players. What is there is solid; good people who are super friendly and will bend over backwards to help you and include you. You see so many people who complain about how they want to play and wish the population was higher, that I feel like if all those people riding the fence logged on then they'd have nothing to complain about. XD
If only RoR dev team would do things the right way... If only. It's like there's a fire in the kitchen and they are cleaning the bedroom, Non sense all over the place.
Warcraft annoys me because there are no truly "bad" guys in the Horde, (unless you count the Forsaken) just a bunch of lovable misfits. Warhammer is proof that people want to play the bad guys, because theyre far more interesting.
It's not what it was lots of players have left the game is being drawn further and further away for what it is its a dark mmo. It's being run on a snowflake server the list is endless but you will see the longer you play :)
Idk, never was a big fan of the whole massive PvP trend. Its messy, chaotic, laggy, you got some fat nerd who thinks they're genius at the game barking orders at you, sometimes you don't even know how you died, and these things go on for hours. If I wanted to have sweaty PvP, I'd play a Moba or a shooter. MMOs are supposed to be chill and about world exploration, character building, environmental ambiance, resource collection and crafting. But instead they use this cheap trick of "ooohhh look at the SCALE, look at how many people are here, don't you feel so insignificant as you're part of something so big?" I know MMO stands for MASSIVE multiplayer, but sorry, not sorry, ain't my jam. If I wanted to congregate with a bunch of people I'd go out to some shitty club on a Friday night. There was an MMO I played a long time ago, and several servers got shut down but were picked up by other companies. Its called WYD or With Your Destiny. The graphics are shit, but you can run multiple accounts on one PC, and the best part is, they have an auto farm system (that still takes some strategy, because the system is janky). I could leave my PC on at home running a tank a healer and an archer farming one mob spawn spot and I'll check in via teamview remote access while I'm at work on lunch break and I can clear out the inventory. You can buy stuff from other people, form parties with your friends, so yeah it's still better than a pure single player Gacha game, but the game isn't barebones UNLESS you're willing to do the massive PvP stuff. There should be multiple selling points of an MMO. It's an online sandbox almost. But too many companies rely on the crutch of massive PvP to sell an underdeveloped game. (Cough GW2 cough) In Guild Wars 1, in order to get an elite skill, you had to find the monster with the skill, kill it while having sigil of capture equipped, then use the sigil on the dead monster to take the skill. You could assign any mix of skills that matched your primary and secondary classes, giving rise to almost infinite combinations of playing a character. In GW2 they removed all that. Skills auto unlock, you're straddled with certain skill combinations based on ur class and ur weapon. Basically just told the playerbase to stop being creative, don't think so much, and once you're done with the slim content of world exploration and campaign, you have nothing left but to jump into World vs World. So much wasted potential, Arena net. I played GW1 for years after the launch of GW2, because I "finished" GW2 in about 3 months.
Please note for anyone getting all excited about this (as Ive seen ALOT of small content creators suddenly blitzing RUclips all at the same time... Im guessing its paid advertising ) What you see is all there is. There is NO PVE groups, NO dungeon crawls, Nothing else. You either go immediately into PVP or you sit in empty zones soloing what quests you can. Unless you're a die hard pvp guy.. its a pass.
for a pvp focused game, the pvp is boring edit > I only experienced t1 and a bit t2 but I guess I have to get used to the game first because it feels old schooly paced. maybe later on things get better
Believe it or not, it's not super complicated in this game... but it's REALLY fun. Everything is built around PvP and that is what you do to level up, so it's easy to get into instead of most games where you quest and do dungeons and later on you try to get into it and it's overwhelming.
WAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!

WAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!! Man I miss the chaos Marauder it was such a fun class if you played rogue type class in WoW or DAoK .. Fun times, might have to give this ago again, it was a mess 4 years ago, half of the teams then didn't wanna work, getting kicked as soon you ventured into RvR
the lore is very strong we all love warhammer world
It is a shame because the game could have been massive. ROR is trying but it just will never have the resources to make it as great as it should have been.
Glad I returned to the game, it's better than ever!
The game is really solid, hope more people will try it out after watching this.
I picked this up a couple of years ago... no disk drive, just wanted the mini. Looks like it was on point of warhammer fant, seems cool.
Also the real WOW killer is Ed, Edd and Eddie online
I remember playing this and age of conan while off from WOW
This blew me away, public quests and the tome were great but the fluidity of the cast bar, action bar was years beyond WOW so it felt "bad"
The bestest mmorpg. WAAAGH!!!
Yeah Goblins!
Waitting for their new MMO
The game didn't feature GROMBRINDAL
I am in fact the White Dwarf that their product catalog is named after.
I wasn't in the game.
If you played the original... you know who i am 😂
Glad to see this on my timeline. Brings back memories.
Back in the days I waited for this game so bad it hurt. I loved it but I had to stop playing after a little while because of financial stability issues. :(
Maybe I'll join the fight again someday. :)
Well you can play it now for absolutely free and it's a ton of fun.
DWARFS OF EKRUND!!!
might not be dead, but it's pretty sick. you can zerg only till a certain point, than you're out. Also population is getting lower and lower as we speack.
A lot of what gave races and classes their identity and flare in warhammer online got directly translated into star wars the old republic.. sadly another mmo that turned out to be pearls before swine
i love this game , and i already loved it when it released (with all its flaws)
Where do I go to get this? I threw my disc out a few years ago.
Here ya go: www.returnofreckoning.com/forum/install
bro, why no link to the community keeping it alive :D
its a huge problem with todays mmos, they are not social at all anymore, you dont sit down and chat in fornt of a dungeon, you dont chat in a dungeon, you dont make friends, there is nothing of that in modern mmos anymore, its all about battlepasses, p2w shops, timegating and extract as much time and money out of the player as much as possible. the golden age of mmos was truly the golden age of mmos.
@Deuzen is correct; you see people still complain about balance issues but the truth is it's WAAAAAY better than the original game.
Super fun; well worth your time.
is there a good player base it sounds like an interesting game. I would like to start but i am just curious
How do i fix the chat spamming this annoying error code i chat every second?
how i can use ather keys exept numbers can i change them?
If you press escape there's an option for keybinds :)
i still got my discs :D how can i play?
Not sure if the original discs are any use for the private server, but you can download the game here :) www.returnofreckoning.com/forum/install
I tried to download it 6 times only error 😢
Warcraft annoys me because there are no truly "bad" guys in the Horde, (unless you count the Forsaken) just a bunch of lovable misfits. Warhammer is proof that people want to play the bad guys, because theyre far more interesting.
This mmo refuses tô die but actual deva keep killing It whit stupid decisions
It's not what it was lots of players have left the game is being drawn further and further away for what it is its a dark mmo. It's being run on a snowflake server the list is endless but you will see the longer you play :)
Wtf i started playing today and didnt know it was a private server lol
wish they made a new warhammer mmo.
Apparently they are doing just that. =)
@@naejimba age of sigmar? dont want more 40k stuff
@@johanwinnem7532 , hasn't been announced yet.
How do I play this?
www.returnofreckoning.com/forum/install :)
Look up Return of Reckoning and you will find the website. Have fun. =)
w time to play fr
The only people I knew who played this game were too toxic for WoW, which is a real achievement
That's funny because of how nice the people on the private server are. XD
too bad the private server is run like an insane asylum with insane people for admins.
Its funny i just downloaded the free version yesterday gonna enjoy it
its great
god I wish I had pc
❤️🔥
Is it anything like the real game? These fan servers are usually a disaster.
🎉
I recently played a bit. Got a Squig boy upto 16, then you get T1 chicken and game kinda sucks coz there is no T2/T3 pop.
I agree.
The only thing to do at that point are Scenarios or go to Tier 4, find an open group and gain experience/renown.
I played for a few months and the game was just not for me
Idk, never was a big fan of the whole massive PvP trend.
(Cough GW2 cough)
In Guild Wars 1, in order to get an elite skill, you had to find the monster with the skill, kill it while having sigil of capture equipped, then use the sigil on the dead monster to take the skill.
Im guessing its paid advertising )
What you see is all there is. There is NO PVE groups, NO dungeon crawls, Nothing else. You either go immediately into PVP or you sit in empty zones soloing what quests you can. Unless you're a die hard pvp guy.. its a pass.
Your second paragraph I can agree with. The first paragraph is completely false, at least from my perspective, but thanks for stopping by either way.
for a pvp focused game, the pvp is boring
edit > I only experienced t1 and a bit t2 but I guess I have to get used to the game first because it feels old schooly paced. maybe later on things get better
The real experience is T4. T1 is like kindergarten comparatively. The game really starts feeling right at T3, but T4 is *chefs kiss*.
yess we love RoR
It's funny how you just roll right into the game and not talk about the stupid BS you have to go through to download and install.
End game is broken last time I looked at this game
Meh i prefer pve. Pvp just seems complicated
Believe it or not, it's not super complicated in this game... but it's REALLY fun. Everything is built around PvP and that is what you do to level up, so it's easy to get into instead of most games where you quest and do dungeons and later on you try to get into it and it's overwhelming.
looks pretty dead to me
