Fellow Whooper! :) I just got my Whoop Bicep Strap on Monday, it seems the Active HR is MUCH more on par with Apple Watch + Polar OH1+ when the Whoop sits on your bicep or higher up on your forearm
Whoop measures HR 100 times a second, all the time. Apple Watch only once every few minutes until you exercise. If your HR is off, then the pulse band is not tight enough.
@@MrBenzcdi HR on whoop is poor and very inaccurate, compared to industry leaders, such as garmin, suntoo, polar and apple. If you want to test it yourself, so a hiit workout or high intensity run/bike workout and compare that to any garmin HR chest strap over the last 5yrs.
I’m on about week three of my whoop trial and really liking it so far. I was trying to be healthy but I feel like it really keeps you aware what what you’re doing with your body...sleeping, etc... well I do tend to agree with you regarding the subscription model I also have always felt like companies who charge a subscription have more of an incentive to continue developing a good product to keep your business.

I am not hardcore enough about training/exercise to make this make any sense to me. I am interested in the sleep tracker aspect but I don't see me being able to sleep with that on my wrist. If I could sleep with something on my wrist I would be wearing my Garmin Fenix while I sleep now. I am pretty happy with the Oura even knowing the accuracy is not that great for REM. Every video is getting better. Thanks for the info on WHOOP.

Hi!! Wow this is fantastic feedback! Thank you so much for watching and I'm so happy to hear that you got the Oura ring! PLEASE keep me posted on how it works and what you like about it. I really try to be as honest and impartial as I can in my reviews on all the amazing devices out there (probably from my years as a journalist!). But ultimately, I really think that no matter the type of device (i.e. watch, ring, headband), it's really got to fit into your routine and habits in order to work. The Oura ring has just become a seamless part of my life and although I love the capabilities of the Whoop - their pricing system just wasn't reasonable enough for me at this time!
@@katie_moore Hi Katie, I will have to start with a little bit of my history. In college I ran cross country and track. After graduating and getting a job and responsibilities, I let my fitness slip. I decided to try and make the most out of the COVID19 shutdown by starting to run and play as much golf as possible. The mind is still willing but the body is not. Also, the worst thing you can do at the beginning of a new workout routine is hurt yourself. I was watching an old golf tournament where Rory McIlory was commenting on how he used the Whoop to help monitor his fitness readiness. My new workout routine and the introduction to the Whoop piqued my interest into activity and sleep tracking. I was looking for a device that monitored HRV, tracked my sleep and gave me a prediction on my workout readiness. I looked at three HRV monitoring devices. They were the CorSense, Whoop and Oura ring. I liked how the last two gave me an easy to use app which predicted my workout readiness. Also, all I have to do with Whoop and Oura is wear the device, whereas I would have to remember to test myself if I used a CorSense monitor. I didn't like the monthly subscription on the Whoop. At $300 for the Oura ring, the breakeven cost between the two devices at the most reduced Whoop rate would be approximately 17 months. I am in this for the long haul and the monthly subscription adds up. From your videos the Oura ring also seems to be best at tracking sleep and monitoring fitness readiness. The one downfall of the Oura ring is that it isn't great for activities like lifting weights and golf. Now the Whoop would monitor activity during weight lifting or golf, but your video with Shervin concerned me regarding its accuracy. I eliminated the Whoop and I investigated at the Casio Protrek wsd-f21hr (released date for Sept), Fitbit Charge 4 and Apple watch 5. A driving factor was integration. The Oura ring can import data from both the Android based Casio through Google Fit and the Apple watch through Apple Health, but can't sync with the Fitbit app directly. The smart watches were quite a bit more expensive than the Fitbit and I didn't need/want the extra bells and whistles. Luckily, I found the Fit2Fit app which can sync Fitbit data to Google Fit. This app eliminated the integration issues between the Oura ring and the Fitibit. My plan is to use both, the Fitbit and Oura ring, for sleep tracking, the Oura ring for tracking workout readiness / HRV, and the Fitbit for activity tracking (i.e. running, lifting, golf … and maybe hockey). I have started using the Fitbit and should receive the Oura ring next week. The engineer in me is excited to start tracking the data. Wish me luck, Woo

hey! thanks so much for watching and leaving such a nice comment! I totally agree on the battery life, it's about the same as my Oura ring. I will say that it was nice to just charge the battery pack and slide it on/off rather than take off the whole band, so they've got that going for them. Do you currently track your fitness or sleep with anything??
Katie Type A actually yes. I’ve been using Fitbit for years. I think it’s pretty good. But the problem is that recently google bought it. I’m not too keen on having the biggest data company in the world buying the minute and second and hour I am working out, sleeping, my heart rate information. They already track all of my movement with my phone and now combine that with how I felt, how relaxed I felt in a place of moment. They could even track your heartbeat while showing you ads to see how you react to it very easily since they know which ads they show you on RUclips for instance and what time... so I’m on the market for a new tracker for when this one poops out on me. I don’t like smart watches, I much prefer a fitness tracker. That’s actually how I found you!
I would use the get by function when i dont feel like going so hard. i love whoop but too many people are having too many issues, im going to wait til they work out more of their bugs and see where I am at fitness wise before I decide to pay a membership fee for a device that i may not even need
Totally. I think the main value of fitness tracking (if your not a pro athlete) is just the habit and accountability of tracking! in that case it doesn't matter how accurate it is as long as it's consistent with itself and you enjoy using it.
I absolutely love the strain coach concept! The whoop is really getting close to that “ultimate” health tracker that knows more about you than you do yourself! Can’t wait till my watch is telling me what to eat and when to relax. Almost there! ;)
100% agree! I think for the price right now, it's just quite there. but give it another year and I think we'll see some incredible real-time feedback tech emerge onto the space :)
Curious about the Whoop but I’m really not a big fan of the subscription factor either. You end up spending more on that if you just got an Apply Watch. Thank you for such an informative video! 🙂
so happy to help!! i completely agree...especially since the apple watch series 3 has come down a TON in price. i actually talk about this on my newest video where i review the new Polar Unite. spoiler alert: skip that one too :)
Great review! I’ll defo stick with the Oura. Also aren’t you worried about EMF being so close to your body/organs and head whilst sleeping with the whoop and Apple Watch? Crazy amounts of studies out there showing the negative effects of this. This is where the Oura currently stands out strong and much healthier in this regard ✊🏼 Aeroplane mode all the way when sleeping 😴
Hi Rob!! Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment! HELL YEAH I'm not a fan of the EMF situation with the Whoop - I really don't know why they didn't factor that in (especially when you're intended to wear this thing 24/7!) @@katie_moore Hey Katie :). So nice getting a reply from you hehe. You are one of my favorite RUclipsrs. Thank you so much Nadia!! Honestly it's a combo of a lot of things...I take magnesium (and sometimes lion's mane) before bed, I try not to eat 3 hours before bed, I meditate before I sleep, and I sleep with the chili pad to keep my body cool during the night. Some nights are better than others, but I've found that consistency is key for getting high deep and rem scores!!!
I am here because I am unhappy with my whoop. Heart rate accuracy isn't good. Connectivity is awful!! The method by which they measure HRV is flawed IMO, here's why. HRV is measured during the first part of your last SWS. Sometimes this occurs early for me so the data is gathered when I'm not rested. I've woken up with a recovery of 20 gone back to bed and had SWS and woken up with a 90! The first month I had it I wore it on my dominant wrist and it was giving me a strain score of 20 from washing my car! This screwed my data. Also there messages are frequently conflicting, you need rest, hey you're not doing much. Cost is the icing on the cake. Thanks for the review though, I think I am going to give the oura a try!
happy to share my honesty about the device...and yeah...the pricing model is just not sustainable for most people right now. i've been in love with the Oura for almost a year and a half now and don't go a day without wearing it. but if you're looking for a great device on HR accuracy, you might want to consider a chest strap while working out? I'm about to take the plunge on the Polar H10 to see how the data compares to my Apple Watch (which I'm pretty sure will be WAY off). But I don't think the H10 will help with sleep. I'm hoping we'll see some new products emerge in the next year that really nails sleep, exercise, and recovery without costing an arm and a leg!
@@katie_moore Thanks for the reply! I use a wahoo ticker for heart rate monitoring while riding my bike. The whoop gives inaccurate HR compared. Mostly I want the oura for HRV, RHR and sleep, oh and the temp feature! I'll make my own determination about how I feel concerning performance readiness.
Too expensive ... as in wayyyyy to much $. HR is not accurate. Takes too long to sync in the morning. Connectivity issues with BT. Great sleep and recovery monitory. Not worth $30 per month. Thanks for honest review.
couldn't agree more...especially since there are so many high quality/less expensive trackers on the market that can help you track similar metrics. in fact, i would argue that the garmin vivosmart 4 (which is only $100) worked better for my lifestyle and tracking than the whoop. i'm also excited to get my hands on the xiomi mi band 5 (under $50) coming out next week! stay tuned for a review on that!
Bluetooth EMFs? The whole day? Really? How much then? How bad is it anyway? Whoop records up to 100mb of data every day so it will take a bit to load it to the phone.
Seems like you’re paying $30 a month for a bunch of semi-accurate information. I can monitor my own sleep by noting when I go to bed and when I wake up.
This comment absolutely made my day! Thank you so much -- so happy to have provided some relevant info! Stay tuned for my Viome Part 3 coming up in the next month!

my concern is the constant background exposure. It's been shown to impact calcium channels and cause stress on the body. Some people are more sensitive than others but unfortunately we really don't know the short OR long term effects of EMF exposure.

Thank you so much I watched all other videos didn't reach me like yours did!❤❤❤
wow! thank you! I'm glad you were able to find value in this! I try to be as honest, genuine and thorough as I can be in my reviews.
I have to get this now too...By the time it's all over I'll look like a robot lol.
HAHAHA wait til you see my instagram post on Sunday!!! :)
wIting on your full sleep scan!
me too!! i'm waiting for this whole pandemic to be over so i can get back to work on that :)
Digging the content Katie.
thanks so much, Parker!! Appreciate the love!
Bluetooth EMFs? The whole day? Really? How much then? How bad is it anyway? Whoop records up to 100mb of data every day so it will take a bit to load it to the phone.
Thanks for the honest and detailed review. I’m with you and don’t think I need this.
Awesome glad to hear my review helped you! That’s my goal: to be honest and help people get the right devices to transform their health.
Good insights
thank you!
Great video
hey thank you so much!!! appreciate the feedback :)
Thank you!!
thank you for watching!!! would love your thoughts on any topics you're interested in seeing me cover down the line? 😀
Thank you!
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment :)
Seems like you’re paying $30 a month for a bunch of semi-accurate information. I can monitor my own sleep by noting when I go to bed and when I wake up.
I cant even get the damn thing on
Oh no! Is the productive defective? Did you email the company?

my concern is the constant background exposure. It's been shown to impact calcium channels and cause stress on the body. Some people are more sensitive than others but unfortunately we really don't know the short OR long term effects of EMF exposure.
Katie Type A what is the cause of the concern Katie? What research shows there is such a thing as EMF sensitivity?
