Great explanation of the difference between the different types of gauzes. Basic to some, very helpful to me. Thank you for taking the time to make and post. I wish you the best!

can i use 4x4 for bullet wound packing?

    • @SixEcho

The 4x4 is better for a smaller wound. A deep wound with arterial bleed needs a lot more gauze so rolled or Z-folded gauze is preferred here.

You could apply pressure with a gloved finger using the 4x4. I’ve seen and read about a few cases of people saving lives using quikclot 4x4 to apply direct pressure to an artery.

Can a crinkle kerlix gauze also be used to pack bleeding wounds like the rolled gauze?

In an emergency, almost anything you can find that absorbs blood can be used.

What do you think about non-stick gauze vs standard gauze for wound dressing? Same amount of absorbency?

I would apply a non stick on a wound/burn/ulcer then some regular gauze pad, then some rolled gauze and tuck or tape it.

I keep maxi-pad feminine pads in my kit for bad wounds.

Feminine products are designed to absorb blood. They are not meant to help hold pressure to stop bleeding. Highly recommend getting products designed to stop bleeding.
