Kokushibo was never satisfied with his life as human, he wanted more....his desire to surpass Yoriichi was too promising that he abandoned his humanity to become an immortal demon.
Douma was so empty inside, his only wish was to experience true emotions without having to fake them.
Becoming a demon only turned worse, the only thing he could feel was hunger and couldn't be filled.
Akaza had someone taken away and gave up his humanity.
His greed for being the strongest blinded his judgement to the point of losing himself.

Another point to note about Akaza is that he never laid a hand on any girl, due to his past. He only ate men
Reading Kokushibo’s backstory just made me fall in love with Yorichii.
Reading his backstory makes me pity Kokushibou and later hates him. Like I get that you're jealous and envy of your own brother and him wanting to be the stronger that him it's relatable but bro you don't walked out and abandoning your wife and children for that. You're not 10 stupid you're a fully grown ass adult so grow up from your inferiority complex already you got your own life to deal with.
What's more his reason behind wanting to become the strongest is not pure by any means he wanted to get stronger using anything necessary including betraying the Ubayashiki and the Demon Slayer Corp. He was always destined to become number 2 his whole life and even after becoming a Demon he is still second strongest right behind Muzan. But unfortunately even with 6 eyes he's still too blind and too stupid to realized that no matter what he do he will always destined to be in second place.
I wish the story of yoriichi was sort of like a generational "myth" kind of thing so in the infinity castle arc someone (preferably THE asshole who's there) would taunt him about living in the shadow of yoriichi. it would be funny.
Honestly douma might not have been so bad if it weren’t for his parents

I thought you were going to say how Kokushibo was ashamed and disgusted by his own true demon form to the point that he didn't wish to continue existence as a demon, Doma was actually fond of Inosuke's mom to the point that he didn't want to eat her at all but he had to because she found out he was a demon, Akaza completely lost his will to fight and become stronger after tragedy struck him in life to the point that after becoming a demon Muzan had to wipe his memory because his sorrow affected him so much that it would've slowed his progress through the demon ranks, not to say that Akaza (even though demons can never satisfy their hunger for human flesh) specifically chose not to eat women. Some more could be said about other upper ranks, for example how Gyutaro still was looking after his sister, Hantengu is literally all about emotions and Gyokko still had a huge passion for art

when i 1st saw the name "Douma" and the rainbow emoji i thought u were going to say smt about Douma being gay💀💀💀
Does that imply that Akaza probably asked so many people to become demons because he just really wanted a close friend?
Yes
I don't know why but I like Akaza more than others
Akaza is the only 12 Kizuki that had honor as a human. Even as a demon, he had a code that he lived by. Some of the other Kizuki had redeemable qualities, but none of them to the same extent as Akaza. For Instance, Kokushibo felt remorse, but as a human, he was very envious of his brother, going do far as to hate him. Doma was, and remains a psychopath, incapable of feeling anything for the pain of others.
Nah man 😂 Akaza straight up a villain... How we trade life stories and I still end up your lunch?
Well, the women are safe because apparently he doesn’t eat women and he doesn’t hurt them either he only eats men
I know Douma was born without emotions but here's something about emotions some face.

People only see Douma as a mindless monster who has no regard for life, but it’s just sad when it wasn’t his fault to begin with.
Dōma was born to parents who exploited his unique eye and hair colors to pass him off as a divine being, creating a cult dedicated to worshiping him. Dōma was also hamstrung by inability to feel emotion, which left him unable to care about anything. When he was still a child, his mother had a mental breakdown and stabbed his father to death for having numerous affairs with many other female cult followers. She committed suicide immediately afterwards by poisoning herself to death. When Dōuma saw what happened, he was only troubled by how dirty the room was.
When you think about it from another perspective, his parents basically created the foundation for Dōuma’s future as a demon. It’s just sad to see how unfair things turned out for many of the demons, whose human lives were ruined by other humans and were then forced into a life unworthy of heaven by Muzan.
Yeah I kinda feel bad for Doma his life could’ve been different if he could feel emotions
“Every upper moon” “only the top 3” you’re forgetting that doma is literally a sociopath. He has never understood emotions because he can’t feel normal emotions like everyone else. He never felt love etc because he simply couldn’t. As a demon he is still a sociopath and being turned just makes human emotions even harder to feel
Douma is a psychopath not sociopath psychopaths are known for having little to no emotions while sociopaths are known to have emotions like being way to angry
Psychopaths are usually born psychopaths while sociopaths are usually make sociopaths
He does have some.
He has sympathy for humans not for their suffer, but humanity’s weakness, futility and stupidity.
He pitied that they worshipped a mere child who cannot even hear gods voice.
He pitied how they Begged a mere child to lead them to a paradise that did not exist.
He wishes to make those people happy, he sees himself as their saviour and his mission to help them.
This is stated in the manga and official KNY databook.
Akaza even begged Renguko to become a demon so they could battle together
I hate when people say douma is a one dimensional character because he isn’t I actually want to do a writing essay on him because i find him and his backstory very interesting and kinda relatable
Kokushibo actually shed tears when he realized that he broke the flute that he gave yoriichi when he was a child.
And akaza asked rengoku to be a demom out of loneliness when we literally got daki crushing on him.
Daki had a crush on Akaza?
“Muzan can read demons minds”
That one demon
Muzan: you need them kibustuji you need them
I loved seeing akaza talk with rengoku. Especially loved hearing his view of not harming women and children.
i feel bad for douma, he was so unlucky, he just wanted to feel something
It’s fascinating that so many of these Demons held on to bits of their humanity!
Imagine it’s like 11 at night and akaza pull up has a good 1 hour long chat with u just to turn you into a meal
If Im abouta be eaten by akaza Im probably gonna talk about my favorite donut shop
From what I know, Akaza forgot his human memories that's why he did those things as a demon. But even without remembering his past, it kinda influenced his actions such as not hurting women. His desire to be strong has always been so that he can protect the people he cared abt but he doesn't remember that that is his motivation because he doesn't remember his past. He was actually a pretty nice dude as a human.
I think he was about to evolve or become stronger during his fight with tanjiro but memories from his past came back and he kinda regretted his actions and he realized that the reason he wanted to become stronger died years ago, so he lost the will to fight and didnt want to regenerate anymore and continue the fight.
I like that Douma tries to find a way to be good, but never does, such as when he ate Inosuke's mom. He said that he never intended to eat her and wanted her to die of natural causes, but his killer instinct didn't let him do that. Not like he minded or cared.
It's not killer instinct she discover his demon nature and probably want tell people about it. So he must kill her to keep his secret
He doesn’t have any killer instinct, he has no desire to cause harm or to hurt at all. All he wants to do is to save, to help those he believes needs him. But ultimately he does it in the wrong way.
Akaza has the most humanity in a demon's eye, and most demon-like in a human's eye

Akaza: You seem like a calm and reasonable person. Are you, a calm and reasonable person?
I honestly feel like every upper moon could change, except Hantengu.
I know they have backstory’s some are tragic, but to me that does not make up for what they’ve done after becoming demons. I understand why they choice this path but their still responsible for the destruction they’ve caused.
Honestly I think the more powerful the demon the more their sense of self they retain, or maybe that's just because we know them better

The Akaza one made me cry...
another thing about akaza is that when he was a human his wife was killed so when he was converted he doesn't hurt women since he thinks he's protecting his wife but she's dead
If I had a chance to turn Akaza back into a human, I would. I mean, he may have turned someone I like into a donut, but in my eyes, he still deserved a second chance to be a better person. :/

Douma: 👹👹👹
Doma even decided to leave Inosuke's mother alive.
In an alternate universe, Douma was found by Ubuyashiki first, making him a very powerful hashira, and then manipulates demons to the point they're questioning their whole existence (kinda like Tanjirou and his talk no jutsu if you think about it)
Everyone seems to hate doma but I find his backstory the most interesting of anyone. The top comment mentions his lack of emotions and how he was born that way. I would agree that he desires emotion. I also think that people overlook his backstory, minus non manga readers at this time. I feel like people would not hate him as much without his lack of emotions, but regardless, it’s just my opinion. To put it short I like his character and find it interesting. SPOILERS AHEAD:
He got some emotion after his death, although it was not exactly the way I would have personally preferred. He actually gained feelings for Shinobu.
Backstory: He was born with rainbow eyes and white hair. As a result his parents treated him as if he knew the gods, and created this paradise temple or something can’t remember what it’s called. He also mentioned that he never heard from the gods and thought it was stupid. Later we see that his mom murders his dad in front of him and kills herself shortly after. He however doesn’t have emotions and is annoyed by the mess and disgusted by the smell of blood (as a human). My personal view is that I feel some sympathy that he can’t feel emotions. He would be a lot less hated if he actually felt something, especially with his backstory.
Edit: sorry for making you read all that and going on a rant, I just wanted to get my thoughts out there
You forgot Douma’s comment on himself.
“I was always a kindhearted child, my parents however were so stupid. God and paradise didn’t exist, even a child like me could understand that. When I first saw my followers, I cried. This was so sad. God didn’t exist, nor did paradise, yet they still begged a child to lead them there. I WANT TO HELP THEM. I WANT TO MAKE THEM HAPPY.”
Douma never wanted to hurt anyone, he just wanted to save humans as he believes it is his mission. But he ultimately failed doing so in the right way.
