As a 14 year old I was in love with her. They were a great band with great songs and lyrics, but a shame weren’t around for long. I feel Catalonia took over and followed after them. I personally liked both bands, but sleeper just pip it for me. She still looks amazing at 55
This is the shit that scares me, because both of them are 50+ years old now, and it doesn’t seem that long ago to me 😂 Although she must have been a lot older than I assumed (when I was a kid). She was 31 in this video. I always kind of assumed she was about 22 or 23
Currently 80% through reading "Just For One Day: Adventures in Britpop" - Louise Wener. Felt I had to stop to find out what Sleeper sounds like. I am pleasantly surprised by the gutsy sound and the pert pokey nipples. Reading the book I felt it might be a product of imagination. I shall now read on into the dawn and probably engage in some downloads. Cos I do love the sonic tenacity.

Interesting fact: the girl on the wall behind Louise, wearing knickers and a pink t-shirt, is Samantha Womack - she later played Ronnie Mitchell in Eastenders. Samantha was in her 20's when she posed for that photo, she was about 40 when she joined Eastenders as Ronnie Mitchell.

that short era of about 1993-1997 was a good time for music and TV. TFI, the word, the white room, before the spice girls when kids mostly listened to indie bands. We all used to watch this show every week religiously to see who was on. This was sort of an upgrade of the big breakfast. The loutish behaviour around at the time was a bit annoying (not malicious) but overall i prefer that to the cancel culture of today. Louise always seemed like a nice lady and was so cute
She is a old school tough geezer women . Who is nice and polite and confident. And has a fun sense of humor and personality. But she will take no crap. In the 90s people were themselves and didnt pretend to be perfect and weren't conceited. Young pop stars care more about what they look like and being perfect. We need real people in the media. To stop young people thinking its normal to act like reality stars. And fake popstars and people on daytime TV pretending to be prim and proper. Real people are themselves and are still nice and polite. But dont care what people think about them . And are respectful and can mind their own business. And dont need to be the centre of attention.
Excactly my thoughts on Louise Wener. Down to earth, intelligent, a good sense of humour and a positive charisma. Sanest and most refreshing thing I’ve read today. Gives me back some hope for humanity. If you’re not exposed to enough reality illusion becomes reality.

Best was dubbed "The Fifth Beatle" and "O Quinto Beatle" by the Portuguese press after scoring twice for Manchester United in a 5-1 victory at Estádio da Luz against Benfica in the 1965-66 European Cup quarter-finals, mainly due to his Beatles-style "mop" haircut.
This is depressing, the fact the 27 years have gone so quickly
She's an absolute living DOLL❤ . Loved Sleeper ...great band....with incredible songs.
Isn't it weird this was so cutting edge in the 90s, yet you could never have anything like this in 2022?!
It was a freer time, you were allowed to make daft jokes that didn't mean anything. People were generally easy going and game for a laugh.

Pete Best, not George Best!
Telstar62a There's only one Best, and that's George.
