- The Super Bowl winning LA Rams had a parade today, after a two-year hiatus Coachella is back and the masks are coming off, Trump’s longtime accounting firm has dumped him and he fired back a response, the big new bombshell that the wingnuts are pushing now is that Hillary was spying on the White House, little Don Jr gave a sneak peek at Daddy’s new social media project, Meta (the company formerly known as Facebook) is changing things up and calling employees “metamates,” the RUclips video “Baby Shark” is being made into a movie, and after a teenager named Zach Montana uncovered a song his dad wrote and sang 43 years ago, and never released, he posted a video of him listening to it on TikTok and it went viral - so we invited him and his dad Curly Smith to tell their story and perform the song “Surrender to Me” with their band Fire City Funk later in the show.

His dad was the drummer for the band Boston, and has worked in the studio with Bette Midler, and some other famous musicians. This kid already knew his dad is a very talented musician, but it is cool that he is able to connect with, and appreciate the music he created. What is even more cool, when the dad found out how people were receiving his song, and the video went viral, he was more excited about what this kind of exposure could do to introduce people to his sons music.

I just discovered the German pop group Dschingkhis Khan (Genghis Khan in English). So of course once I watched the original Eurovision show, RUclips keeps suggesting more and more of the original group, the newer incarnations, and other language/national versions. Just saw the Mongolian version (with real Mongolians) and awfully realistic blood was even shed in the videos in the background of the enthusiastic dancing Mongolians. It’s all really fun - music, costumes, singers, dancers.
Don’t know how I missed them 40 years ago, but I don’t think I even had cable back in 1979 when they first started. I didn’t even have a color tv. (Grew up with fuzzy b&w, it was a big deal when my mother’s cousin got a big color tv and we would go over to his house to see shows in color.) Anyway - I only read technical German, so I have to use a dictionary a lot.... Good practice for me, I guess.
I do worry a bit that in later centuries, some of the well known invaders of our time will also get a fun upbeat musical treatment....
