Definitely the Brassavola
The orchids I purchased at Houserman Orchids were Species nodosa's and I got them for the foliage.

......very nice additions to your collection....I understand your concerns with moss on mounts.....If I use moss, its over the roots not under the roots......so it can fall off naturally over time.....Fill a tote with water and 100ppm calmag, add 25ppm of kelp/seaweed....Keep it covered when not using it......When ever you get a new plant, and mount it.....toss it in there for 30 min....do it to all your mounts.....let them soak in it between feedings.....They will grow crazy roots, and black rot will just be a bad memory....if you have good roots......the rest is easy......Melissa we will keep you and all the Florida growers in our prayers.....be safe.

Omg I found a B. Cucullata at my Lowe’s and it was the very last one too. I couldn’t believe it, i mounted mine hopefully she loves it.

Hi Melissa! I found one Brassavola like yours at my Home Depot too 🤗It was like 20 days ago and it’s already about to bloom. I repotted mine in lava rock and charcoal. Love your videos❤️

Hi Melissa I found the same brasavola at Home depot but is mouth in a short wood basket and after two weeks it bloomed for me I’m so happy , two blooms they are beautiful and special found another 3 beautiful mounted orchid the same way I got very lucky that day .😊
Love the way they look mounted I sowed one at K. Smith the same way, I believe they will do better mounted.
I have found baskets like that too. They are nonstop bloomers!

Hi Melissa,
very nice roots on the brassavola. I've grown the brassavola from seed and I can tell you that yours is pretty old, it has lots of mature pseudobulbs already which is good. The picture you showed was actually a brassavola appendiculata. They get confused with each other all the time, not even AOS judges know the difference.
They are very similar, the appendiculata has more of a yellow tinge to the white flowers whereas the cucullata has a red tinge to the white flowers.
Some love the smell, others do not but it might just be the difference between the two species or some just perceive it differently.
Incidentally you showing the appendicullata, it is most likely that is what you bought since they get micxed up all the time and in the US the cucullata, the real one, not a mislabelled one, is riduclously rare. Like nobody has one. They all have an appendicullata instead.
@@tomfurmby88 oh wow! That’s good to know. I guess I’ll have to bloom it to know for sure. I have seen many mistakes with labels from Better Gro. It was the only one they had and I feel lucky to have found it. How are your orchids doing?
@@Melissa-loves-orchids good find for sure. Orchids are doing fine overall. Still a few mite cases here and there. Admittedly it's not been the best year for them due to the mites but I've been through pretty much the lot, next year they will shine as a result. Well not all maybe lol. Like my cattleya trianae. Meh. My Sea Breeze is still doing nothing. I watch monstera growers and they go "this one is ridicuously slow, only one new leaf in the past month." Well.... heehee. How bout one pseudobulb per year? But it's not all bad. I have grown practically everything else by now, orchids might be slow but that just means they won't outgrow their pots too fast and don't need as much attention at times. Only things blooming here are my Lou Sneary and a couple of phal bellina's still which is not much but they are looking so much healthier than last year so I'm hoping the lack of blooming overall is due to the mites and my treatment for them.
