To think that this great man has pursued artistic excellence his whole life and to see the fruit of his labor at 90 years old is such an incredible blessing.
Amazing is hardly adequate to describe this. The entire voice is all of a piece with especially stunning WOBBLE-FREE high E flats. He must & likely will be a Guinness Champion for some time to come. Finally his earlier work is pretty easily accessible on CD now.
A testimony to great singing technique: 90 years old! and still singing without a wobble, clear vowels, even vibrato, chiaroscuro... there are clips of other great singers like Lauri Volpi, Martinelli, Melchior, Bechi singing in their latter years on YT. Of course they are not what they were but never the less still rather amazing.

I often come across Ms. Greene's comments which I see as mostly eccentric, but that is still my problem. What saddens me is when I see how many rude words she's receiving in response. Is it possible that the opera community of fans can be so easily provoked? Then Emily has not so negligible a power! - and " il vecchio Nicola" making everyone tremble... The wonderful Mark Reizen is one of my favorite artists; in his old age with an astonishingly healthy voice still full of beauty, an unquenchable instinct for phrasing and his nobility, is THE example of a real opera royalty.
It's insane to think that he was born only 2 years after Tchaikovsky passed, and we have such a good recording of him singing excellently!

The language may be Russian, but, like Lisitsian, the technique is pure Italian ‘bel canto’. The tone always on the breath, never pushed by it.
